Surgery isn't a guarantee that you will no longer be hungry or never hungry again. I still have cravings and I have hunger. My hunger isn't the same as what it was before surgery. What I have found in the short weeks since my surgery is I have one bite of that craving and realize it doesn't taste as good as I expected. Then I don't want more. I had a craving for a DQ Blizzard. I ordered a mini, took 3 bites and gave the rest to my mom. Craving gone. Cravings and hunger happen. You just have to learn how to use this surgery tool to incorporate it into life. It's not a diet, it's life. There is no cheating, it's just good or bad food choices and that it totally under your control.

The salt intake is something to watch. That's why I asked Santa for a dehydrator so I can play around with it and lower the salt content.

If you are serious about this then reopen discussion about Mexico. There are reputable businesses down there that do a great job. I had mine done in Tijuana in October and don't regret an instant of it. The surgery was $4600 and all inclusive except for the flights to San Deigo. I am hoping to convince my sister to have it done in the coming year.

Well, your stomach probably came out on the left side of your abdomen (fyi). However, you had several incisions and all of them went through muscles. You are healing and the pain is normal as those muscles heal. I was sore while walking for at least 3 weeks. My jiggly belly aggravated it.

I think you may want to speak with a professional about the emotional issues you have connected to your weight. Not eating enough is dangerous at any time, but especially after being sleeved. It is not uncommon for people to swap addictions after weight loss surgery and it sounds like you may have done that. Your new addiction is focused so strongly on gaining weight that you are walking the border of anorexia. That is not a tight rope walk that you want to fall off. In fact, not eating enough WILL damage your metabolism to the point that you cannot lose more or stablize. Not eating enough will throw you into starvation mode and your body will hoard every calorie you do ingest. Please please think about seeing a professional before you cause serious damage to your health.

360+ pounds?!? help!
Yaberhoo replied to allyrenee's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I was 410 at the start of pre op and chose the sleeve. Research to figure out your best option. -
I tried it when I was cleared for all food. I fully expected Runt to take me to task immediately. Nope, I swear she purred. Weirdest sensation. It was like a relaxing sigh.

Does Your Family’s Kitchen Support Weight Loss?
Yaberhoo replied to Alex Brecher's topic in Food and Nutrition
My mom lives with me. I made the decision before surgery that I would not force my new way of eating on her. She is at a healthy weight and is not in need of dieting. My cupboards look exactly the same as they did before surgery. I still do all of the cooking so I will make the usual stuff but only eat the part that is consistent with how I choose to eat. For example, I made chicken enchiladas and dug out the chicken goodness inside the tortilla instead of eating it all. When I find myself browsing the cupboard for something to eat, I step back and eat a hard boiled egg or some cheese instead. I acknowledge that I am browsing out of boredom or whatever and make a good food choice. The temptation of the yummies in the cupboard goes away. -
You probably pulled the stitches, but It would be a good idea to call your surgeon's office just in case.

Bowel movements after sleeve surgery
Yaberhoo replied to amandyr1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
liquid in, liquid out. I was the same way. It lasted until I started soft foods. It will pass (bah dum bum!). -
If those vitamins contained Iron, that is probably the reason why. It is common that iron in the tablets makes people vomit. I had the same reaction from a chewable vitamin for bariatric patients. The only time I've vomited since surgery.

Does anyone struggle from swollen legs?
Yaberhoo replied to healthyamy's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
My ankles were typically swollen before surgery. I'm now 7 weeks out and they went waaaaay down. I can see muscles and bones and everything! They went down about 3 weeks post surgery. -
How far out of surgery are you? Need more info. Vitamins are available in chewables and most prescriptions are available in a liquid form or something better for you to handle. You need to speak to your doctor or pharmacist about changing the type of pill for your prescriptions.

Depressed don't know what to eat
Yaberhoo replied to scarlep's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's understandable that you miss rice, but you should really consider trying not to focus on it. One of the critical parts of being sleeved is to relearn how to eat and make that emotional shift away from food. I miss Diet Coke and Pasta, but those were two things that got me needing surgery. Substitutions are not exact replacements just like spaghetti squash doesn't taste like real spaghetti noodles. You have to figure out what works for you. Start researching new recipes! Get your Julia Child on and start experimenting with new foods and find out what you like. -
Your coldness is residual from the crap they pumped into you during surgery. Anesthesia, etc. Your body is in shock and healing from surgery. It's normal. Bundle up and drink some hot chocolate with Protein powder!

Just home, feeling terrible
Yaberhoo replied to Cheeselife's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I slept in a recliner the first week home because laying down on my bed was not an option. That was the only time I was uncomfortable. It sounds like you have gas to work out and walking is the best solution. -
How long does 3 week stall last?

It takes as long as it takes. Mine lasted almost 2 weeks. -
Wish I hadn't Told Some...

I am so sorry this happened. It appears that this person wasn't a close to you as you thought. I wonder if it is that she is threatened by your potential weight loss? Whatever the reason it, it is HER problem. Not yours. Hugs to you right now. -
Just home, feeling terrible
Yaberhoo replied to Cheeselife's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Instead of the Protein shake, why not just try apple juice or Water? Hydration is your priority the first week, not the protein. Water needs to follow a sugar or a salt into the body to be absorbed so that is why I recommend the apple juice. Your body is in shock, sweetie. I was still in the hospital for two nights and in a hotel recovery floor for another two before released to go home. NO WAY could I have swallowed a Protein Shake. I barely could take three spoonfuls of broth. I drank water and juice to give me some calories and keep my sugar levels up. -
What’s Your Relationship with Caffeine?
Yaberhoo replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
All I drank was Diet Coke. I was a huge addict. I've been hooked on caffeine since I was a kid. It was practically etched into my DNA. The day I decided to have WLS I gave up caffeine cold turkey. I have tried a million times to ease off of it and I would fail and it would be worse than ever. Cold turkey was the only option.. It took three full weeks for the withdrawal symptoms to start fading. I looked and felt like death. Caffeine withdrawal migraine for a full three weeks is something I don't wish on most anyone. That was back in September. I miss it so badly. I stopped drinking the little coffee I did have and all sodas and fizzy drinks. I think the part I miss is the fizzy. I love it. It's still a fight every day not to go pick up a soda. -

In my care packager from the hospital there was a t-shirt in it. It had a picture of a cartoon stomach holding a sign that said "help!'. It said, "I left my stomach in Tijuana." I can't wait to wear it.
