Botox? Botox only lasts for about 3 months so it needs to be injected roughly 4x a year.

Can you have juices?
Nurse_Lenora replied to rimmarrufo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I avoid juices because it's too much sugar. Even if you squeeze and orange to make OJ I personally would not drink it. I try to steer clear of fruit also because even though its naturally occurring sugar, it's still sugar. -
Fabulous NSV....whats yours ?
Nurse_Lenora posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
This time last year I was 265lbs I wore a size 20 pants/skirts and a 2x shirt. Today, I am down 90lbs (since January, sleeve February) Weight this am is 175 lbs I wear a size 10 shirt or MEDIUM and in pants Im a 12 or MEDIUM... did you notice that I said MEDIUM!!! OMG I can't remember the last time I wore a MEDIUM anything! lol I ordered new scrub pants from Amazon....medium petite and agonized over my size decision until they arrived and I swear I held my breath when I tried them on...completely expecting them to be uber tight. I almost cried when they fit perfectly! OMG who is this person?? hahahah Happy holiday weekend to me! What is your NSV for the week??? -
I have chronic migraines and have used Imitrex, migrinal, etc as well as had Botox. Botox was amazing! I also avoid my triggers.... The best thing to do is do not go to just any neurologist. Go to headache.com and find someone Board Certified in headache medicine. They will help you find the correct treatment for you. Migraines deserve a sub specialist Good luck, migraines can be hell.....

Congratulations all! I was sleeved Feb 2016 and it's the best thing have ever done for myself! You will not regret it [emoji4] -
I would ask surgeon for a referral to a primary. Assuming you have met with surgeon or just call surgeons office, tell them of your problems and ask which primary docs are agreeable and refer frequently to surgeon

Does anyone own a Fitbit?
Nurse_Lenora replied to haveyoumetalexx's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a friend who does Iron man competitions....she had a Fitbit and then bought an Apple Watch....the step counts were wildly different now between the two so she tested one day....minute she got out of bed she counted her steps then checked each after 100 steps. The Apple Watch was right on ! The fit bit was off by at least 50%. That did it for her and she has since been dedicated to her Apple Watch. I personally use an Apple Watch but have friends and my partner who use and love Jawbones. I love the Jawbone UP app and have my Apple Watch sync to it. On a side note I have an extra Jawbone UP , black size large with charger if anyone is interested. 25$ OBO I think maybe nothing will be 1000% accurate but the gist is motivating yourself to move more and be healthier in general -

I realized that as I today I have lost 61lbs since January 1st 2016. That means I am more than Half way to goal! My current goal is 130 but it's subject to change as I progress but that means 54 lbs to go! I can do this!!! Anyone else half way to their goal weight???

Ok bunch of city rants... I love tourists, I love that other people chose to vacation in my beautiful city...what I don't like is when they choose to stop dead in the middle of the sidewalk to use google maps to find their destination. I'm all for google maps but move over to the side against the buildings ! Stopping in the middle of the sidewalk your liable to be trampled. Also, for the love of God! I take public transportation and no, I do not need to hear your phone conversation because you must use speaker phone. Really???? Get some damn headphones or oh, I don't know PUT THE PHONE TO YOUR EAR! Like a normal human being.... Rant over for now but I reserve the right to post in this thread again

Agreed! Or the people who MUST walk side by side with friends....your walking through a tunnel to get to the EL....its narrow and two way so walk in a damn single file line and b respectful of others. DO NOT shoot dirty looks at those coming towards you as if they are the inconvenience. Welcome to the big city people!!!

Pre-op goals
Nurse_Lenora replied to jennmonterrozo's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
When you make dinner monday night, make a little extra chicken for Tuesdays lunch and make a big salad to go with it. Also, now is the time to cut out carbs as well as sugar! Cutting the sugar addiction is hard but so worth it! I felt it was very freeing! -
Question for fellow nurses/hospital staff.
Nurse_Lenora replied to CardinalsGirl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I did not have surgery at "my hospital" I felt there was really no way from keeping gossip from spreading. One of the other Nurses I work with had a sleeve a few years ago and advertised the fact and her new body to everyone at the hospital and it was nothing but negative for her. People became resentful of her and her flaunting of her body etc and she was very "out" and in your face..... "oh I can't eat that much anymore because you know I had a sleeve..." "oh I just can't keep any food down since my sleeve...." I was personally happy for her and she doesn't know this but her success is what prompted me to consider and eventually have surgery. Unfortunately, her attitude made people very angry and tired of hearing about her procedure and new body and her weight loss. I decided right then and there that no-one would know about my surgery! lol I did take time off of work and said I need to have surgery but I said i was having a hiatial hernia repair. I started spreading the word about 6 mos before surgery that I was seeing a dietician and making better food choices and lost weight before surgery so no one has suspected anything! It may seem like I went through a lot but it was worth it to me to protect my privacy. That poor nurse that was ridiculed for having surgery and for flaunting her weight loss etc eventually left and went to another hospital. It was sad because she had been at my hospital for about 20 years. -
So as I creep closer to the puréed food stage I am researching recipes for purse and beyond. I'm Italian so Pasta WAS a way of life for me. Now that I can no longer have it and will not have it I'm thinking about the sauce. I would happily eat just the sauce with a spoon. So, I need to ask my nutritionist but what's with sausage? I use Italian sausage in my spaghetti sauce. Maybe I need to modify my methods....

Net carbs vs actual carbs ....
Nurse_Lenora posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
So I found a recipe for making Quest bars into Cookies. My partner has a taste for chocolate chip cookies and I thought I would use the Quest bar cookie recipe to try it out. So I was checking the nutrition info and it has 20g carbs but... 4 net carbs because 20g - 14g fiber- 2 g erythritol =4g net carbs So which do you count ? Carbs or net carbs? I'm torn on this one....also, has anyone tried the cookie recipe??? -
I have been thinking a lot about how I want to alter my style post op when I am able to wear "whatever I want". I want to wear boots, lots of skirts, leggings and in general be even more girly than I am now. (If that's possible lol ) Anyone else thought about this?

Who do you want to be after?
Nurse_Lenora replied to Nurse_Lenora's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I understand! I felt like I stuck out when I was 245lbs but now even far from my goal I feel like just another face in the crowd and it's wonderful!!!! You will get there too!!!
