I have been overweight all of my life. I have NEVER been what's called a "normal weight". I have lost weight, but then have gained it all back and then some. I have done Weight Watchers, Lite Weighs (medically supervised), pills, potions, you name it. I have yo-yo'ed up and down since I was ten years old.
I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes about a year and a half ago. My cholesterol was out of control, as was my triglycerides. I have tried battling these conditions with meds and diet; it works for a while but then I lose control...again! Both of my parents died of heart disease at an early age, and I would like to overcome that family tradition. So mainly, I am having surgery to resolve (hopefully) my diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure (guess I forgot to mention that) and be able to move more and have more energy to chase my beautiful great-granddaughter around.
I found Bariatric Pal on line, and have been reading the information and stories (good and bad) from persons who have gone through the surgery. I am hoping to have a great outcome from WLS. I know it is not a magic potion, but I'm hoping it will give me the tools - through a physical barrier - to keep my from over eating.
Please wish me well as I wish you well also. Thank you.
