    Goodbye 300s!

This was the best feeling when it happened to me too! I cant wait for ONEDERLAND!

    Major stall

It is probably because you are building muscle by working out. If you are losing the inches from your body, that is still a good sign, though I understand when you are close to onederland I'm sure its frustrating. Stick to it and focus on your body feeling better!
  3. I am 4 months out and am eating about 2.5 oz of food at a time at the most. At one month, I was doing about 1.5 oz. I do 3 meals per day, 1 Protein shake per day and 1 - 2 small protein Snacks per day. I cut out almost all carbs though. I find that they fill you up very fast and don't give you any of the protein that you need. Focus on lean meats, cheese, nuts, and Protein Bars.

    Just Checking.....

I originally thought that I wanted the band because I liked the idea of it not being permanent. However, after researching and speaking with my surgeon, I decided to do the sleeve. I couldn't be happier already with the sleeve (im 4 months out). Some of the things that were pointed out to me about the band were: - While it can be more restrictive, it can also be less restrictive if you aren't getting it adjusted constantly - One person I spoke with who had it said in the first year they had to have it adjusted 20-25 times. (imagine all those appts) - The statistics of gaining weight back are larger (no pun intended) I think that either surgery is a step in the right direction. It is what will work best for you. I am extremely happy with the sleeve. No complications and I feel GREAT!

    6 month out:(

Every doctor and facility is different and will require different things. I can tell you that even without a waiting period, by the time my paperwork and all testing was complete, it was about a 4 month process for me, so not much less than yours. I know it seems endless to have to wait 6 months, but trust the plan that they are setting forth for you. Six months is nothing compared to the permanent new you once you are able to have the surgery. Pass all of their requirements with ease and take this time to prepare yourself and research. Don't get discouraged. Let this decision empower you!

    Full or Eating too fast?

I noticed that I had a back pain during my 2nd week post op. I think it was just that I was putting more stress on my back to be careful of my stomach. It went away a few days after that and never had it back. (I think for me it was also because I was relaxing a lot and laying down) I definitely can tell when I eat too fast or too much though. It feels like someone is sitting on my chest. But, I am happy to say I am 4 months out and have not gotten sick at all after surgery. Good luck to you!

    Happiest Moment

My happiest moment was going camping a couple of weeks ago and not having to worry which chair that I was sitting in by the camp fire. I bought my own a while back that could handle a heavier capacity and always stressed about only sitting in that one. Also, I have always loved pictures, but panicked sometimes when one would be taken. Now, I worry a lot less. This entire experience has made me happy!! Forgot this one too... realizing that my current weight is less than my weight on my drivers license (which was a lie to begin with!)
  8. I was in the hospital for less than 24 hours and walking around about 2 hours after surgery. I walked off and on all night. I took a week and a half off of work total and in that time took it easy. Went for daily walks (about a mile) and relaxed a lot. I preferred being alone, it gave me time to relax and focus on my new journey. I didn't take the pain medication after the 2nd day. It feels a little sore for a few weeks but after that goes away. Focus on your body. Everyone is different. I am lucky that I have had no issues (im 4 months out) but I follow the plan pretty particularly. I still go out and have fun, but just make the right decisions for myself with food and drink.

    I'm so tired

Wow! Your weight loss is incredible!! For my protein, I do one shake per day of ISO 100 (I buy it on Amazon because its cheaper) and I also eat a protein bar called Pure Protein every day. The shake has 28 grams of protein and the bar has 20 so between the 2 things I get 48 grams just in those not counting my food intake is getting me to my protein goals. For the fatigue, are you drinking caffeine at all? I stopped all caffeine at the time of surgery and I work out regularly and do the protein and I rarely feel tired now. Try those things and see if it helps! Good luck!

    Had sleeve surgery yesterday

Congrats on your decision to do the surgery and welcome to your new life! Take it slow with the liquid diet. It got hard for me at the end of 2 weeks. I was ready to eat by then, but just know that they tell you to wait for a reason. Trust what your doctor is saying. You will get through it and the weight will fly off during those 2 weeks. Welcome to the club!

    Newly Sleeved

Exciting for you to be starting out! Sounds like you have it all under control. Just take one day at a time. Focus on the foods you are eating (lean meats, Proteins, etc.), drink your Protein shakes and once you feel up to it start walking around and excersizing. My first triumphant moment was when I had to go through my closet and donate about 75% of my closet because nothing fit anymore. Now, I am enjoying shopping (just buying a few things here and there in between). Its such an amazing and positive journey. Enjoy it!

    Protein Shake Questions

My nutritionist suggested a protein powder to me called ISO 100. I order it online with Amazon because it is so much cheaper. They have lots of flavors, never taste chalky and is pretty cheap compared to others. I drink the orange dreamcicle every day since surgery and im not sick of it at all (been 4 months). Hope this helps!

    - 100 lbs today:

How awesome for you! Congrats. And you are right about the foods. I am 4 months out and could eat whatever I wanted at this point, but now its about choosing the right things. I find myself caring more about preservatives, lean meats and proteins. I never thought I would be that person, but I am loving it!

    Your body is a wonderland!

Congrats to you! I cant wait to have that same feeling. Im sure it was a great one!
  15. Oh, I think most of us can relate to this one. I have had this same issue in the past. Let me tell you though, doing this surgery is the best thing that I have ever done for myself. I feel healthier, care about what I am eating now, want to be active and don't have to pre-plan for all of these things that become normal to us like having to get to the restaurant early to get the right table. Its amazing to not have to think of those things all the time anymore. I was like you too @@nikkiperezcassar and didn't share those thoughts. Good luck with your journey, I hope it is as much as a life changing experience as mine has been.
  16. I was very embarrassed and shy about telling people leading up to the surgery. I told my close friends and family slowly leading up to it as well as my coworkers. After surgery, I care a lot less about who knows. This is my journey. I have never had any negative feedback about it. I don't shout it from the rooftops, and don't tell strangers about it, but I am open if it comes up. I became more proud about my decision afterwards, but I completely understand being nervous now. Hopefully you have the same positive experience I did and it wont matter much afterwards. Own it! Be proud of it! Its the new you!

    Calling Las Vegas Sleevers!

Hi @@Omla No, I haven't been to any of them. Im not opposed to going though. I know that Dr. Soong's office offers them. I find that I more just go with the flow and see how Im doing. I have been going to my check up appointments and Dr. Soong is great. Honestly, can not say enough great things about him. No complaints here! You will love him and love the outcome afterwards. I will be 4 months out tomorrow and down 70 lbs! Its a very fun journey!

    Carb questions

I typically stay away from most carbs, however, I do eat a wrap sometimes with a thin whole wheat tortilla. I think that if you are making it at home it would be much better for you so you know what you are cooking with. Don't try it for the first time at the restaurant. But, the reason I love this surgery is because of what @@Elode said above that you can eat what you want, you just choose to eat better now (atleast that's how it is working for me).

    3 month weight loss

I am 4 months out and down 70 lbs. Starting weight was 322. I am losing anywhere between 2 - 5 lbs per week now but typically 2 lbs. Good luck!

    Calling Las Vegas Sleevers!

Hi! Im from Vegas too. I had my surgery from Dr. Soong in April and let me tell you all, its the best decision I have ever made. I am almost 4 months out and feel amazing. The actual surgery went great, I healed fast and was back to work after a week and a half. As long as you educate yourself with the things that you need to adapt into your new life (protein shakes, Vitamins, eating healthy) you will do great. I am determined and the weight loss is a huge reward for that. I go to the gym a couple of times a week, walk a lot and focus on putting the right foods in my body. As far as insurance, I had BCBS and they were great. Dr. Soong and everyone in his office was fantastic. I did all of my testing and then scheduling surgery happened pretty fast after that. Good luck to you all!

kicked off of a fair ride....

Last year I went to Universal Studios and while I had fun, I spent most of the day on google looking up forums that people had posted about bigger people and if they could fit on the rides or not. That was one of the last straws for me in deciding to have this surgery. I didn't want to think about all of the things that had become "normal" for me to have to think and worry about but weren't normal. I cant wait to go back and not have to pretend like I don't enjoy riding the rides to get out of worrying if I would fit!
  22. Its an exciting day coming up for you! I had mine three months ago and feeling great. I have been told by multiple people that I have a new passion for life and its true. I have always been a positive person, but my new found confidence makes me feel even better. Take one day at a time. Pay attention to what you are eating and drinking (and how fast you are doing them). I work out a couple times a week too which makes the weight come off faster. I have had no caffeine since surgery and doing just fine without it. As long as you focus on your lean Proteins and are active, the weight will come off faster than you could imagine. Good luck!! Hope your journey is as positive has mine as been.
