  1. I like Crystal Light but most times just drink water. I cut out all caffeine too so don't do tea or coffee.

    Exercise victory!

Awesome! Good for you! Its things like this that mean the most!
  3. I have always wanted to travel to Europe, but I was afraid I would be too tired or not be able to be accommodated well due to my size. I am only 5 months out now, feeling GREAT and I just booked a Europe trip next summer for myself and my husband. Here's to celebrating new life!

When I look in the mirror

I would definitely recommend taking pictures and doing a side by side of a photo that you hate (we all have some) from before and you now. I take them once per month, full body shots of front, back and side and look at my previous months photos. Guaranteed to make you feel better. It will truly show you your progress. Another idea is take yourself shopping. Doesn't have to be expensive or buy much but when you are trying things on in a smaller size and it is fitting, it will boost your confidence. Recognize how far you have gotten and be proud of that. Work it!

Can't wait for before to meet after

Yes! I think that we have all felt moments like this. Thanks for sharing! I had a very hard time fitting in the plane seatbelts and the last few times I flew, I did the same things as you! I am happy to say I am 5 months out and I flew last week and the seatbelt fit just fine with a little extra room. It made me smile.

    NSV shout outs

Buying regular size clothes that did not come from a plus size store. It really showed me how far I have come already! Great feeling!
  7. I loved reading some of these. I am also the same about drinking water. I want to gulp a whole glass, but slow and steady wins the race. I am surprised by my willpower to not eat things some times. Though there are times when I slip up, I try to really think about what I am consuming. I am shocked that I was able to cut out caffeine. They didn't tell me I had to, I chose to give it up, and you know what? I have more energy now than when I was drinking tons of coffee and soda!

    Yoga post-op

I started working out (cardio) at about 2 months out. I felt great, never any issues. I haven't tried yoga yet, but my surgeon suggested it because he said that it can help with loose skin over time since you are stretching with yoga poses. I say try it when you feel comfortable and just take it easy in the beginning.
  9. @@Jefferyc79 I know how you feel! I have the same situation with my husband. He is the right one for me because no matter what he never made me feel like that. But, its hard when you think it yourself. Go us for making this decision and not having to worry about that anymore!!
  10. @@Comicbookguy That's awful. Sorry you had to experience that. You definitely got out as the lucky one though cause they aren't worth your time anyway if that is the case. You will find someone who will love YOU for YOU. Not because your weight fluctuates, but actually love the person that you are inside and out. Thanks for sharing!
  11. I typically order a side of something that would be high in protein, low in fat. Hummus, grilled chicken, cheese plate etc. Sometimes its not worth it for me to order myself a meal though and I will just eat some of what my husband gets but typically only eat meat if that is the case.

    Below Drivers License weight!

Isnt it great? I had this same thing happen to me! Its amazing. Congrats!
  13. I would suggest increasing your Protein. When I drink my Protein shake or eat a Protein Bar, it keeps me full for longer. When I don't do those things, I am more hungry during the day. Also, try more lean meats and cheeses too. Good protein will keep you fuller longer!
  14. As the others have said above, it definitely depends on what you are doing, eating etc. However, I noticed that my first month the weight was flying off. Now, I am typically losing about 2 lbs per week for the last couple of months. I have never gained, but I have had weeks when I don't lose any.

    ONEDERLAND! YES ME!

Congrats! That is amazing. Be VERY proud of that.
  16. It definitely will get better. Trust me. I find that the protein shakes are too sweet for me too. So, I add lots of water to mine. I drink it every day like that. With 24 oz of water. As long as you drink it all, you are getting the protein and the added bonus of more water intake. I would try that if I were you. I buy ISO 100 protein online on Amazon and its cheap and good (I prefer the Orange Dreamcicle one) Good luck!

    Something new

I know its tough. I had moments in the end of my liquid phase when I thought I would go crazy. But, you will get through it. Just know that soon the world of food will open back up and you will have an entire new set of challenges of choosing the right things for you. This phase is just part of it. Stick to it! Good luck!

    Feeling Like a Failure

Don't let yourself feel like a failure. Where you are at is still much different than where you started. Its hard sometimes to always remain positive, but just do it! Look back at pictures of the former you. Realize how far you have come. You can always get back on track like the others said above. But, don't let yourself feel like a failure!
  19. Congratulations! You look great. So exciting to have a new found spark for life. Im feeling the same thing and loving it!!

    Weight loss at 6 months?

As everyone said above, it completely depends on age, starting weight etc. Though I haven't reached 6 months so far (im at about 4.5 months post op) I am down 72 lbs. In the last couple of months I typically lose 2 lbs per week. Good luck!

    Curse you, Diet Coke!

I was told that the only thing that I had to give up FOREVER was carbonation since it stretches your stomach naturally with the bubbles. I was an avid diet coke drinker (not every day, but atleast a couple times a week) and coffee drinker daily. I thought I would just die without caffeine. I am happy to say its not as hard as I thought. I have not had any carbonation and I also chose to give up coffee (I don't want to drink my calories). Not one drop of either since surgery date a little over 4 months ago. I say cut out the sodas if you can. I know its hard, but feel as though the long term affects are worth it!

Whenever I'm having a bad day...

I do this same thing. When I have a day where I feel like I haven't made much progress, I look at my old photos. I just did a side by side too and wow it made me feel great! You look good! Keep doing what you are doing!
  23. I went back to work a week and a half after surgery and was totally fine with doing that. I felt great for the most part. A little sore, but fine to be at work. Only you know how you are feeling. If you are up to it, I say go for it!
  24. Don't stress yourself only on the scale. How are you feeling? I think a good sign is that you went and joined a gym and you said that you worked out. These are positive things. Let yourself feel those triumphant moments that you weren't doing before that you want to do now. The weight will come off. Don't stress about it!

    Feeling left out

Yes, I agree with everyone else. It is about learning what you can eat in every scenario. The first couple of weeks, I isolated myself too and then I realized I still wanted to have a life. I love going out to restaurants, bars etc. I just choose much differently now. Healthy foods and a lot of time I will just have water. But, to me, it means being able to go out and have a good time still. I feel more alive now so didn't want to miss out on everything!
