Classic case of over confidence...
krista132 replied to dhrguru's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
You got this! You have the right attitude and that is about 90% of the battle. You just purchased early so that you can be even more excited! Congrats! -
I LOVE reading all of the things that you all are eating for breakfast. I have been so boring. I literally eat the same thing every day which is a mini protein pre-packaged thing I buy from the store of mini cheese cubes and non salted nuts and raisins. I am bored of it, but its so easy. I don't wake up with enough time to eat in the mornings, so I eat it after I get to work. I am going to try some of these options! Also, for protein bars during the day, I eat the "Pure Protein Bar" I like the blueberry kind. It has 20 grams of protein and only 190 calories.

As others said above, it is only temporary. For me in my first 2 weeks, it was about mental hunger instead of physical hunger. I thought I was going to go crazy by the end of the 2 weeks, but you know what, I survived. And so will you. You will build your mental strength and then be able to conquer all of the things that we know we need to now as this is our new journey! Keep with it. You can do it!

A body area that stops you dropping a size
krista132 replied to Beachsprite's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have the same issue. My stomach is larger than the rest of my body. But, it always has been. I know that it will continue to go down in size just like everything else. And as far as yoga, I say do it! I was always intimidated too, but I said screw it and went last week to my first yoga class and LOVED IT! I say do it. Don't let anything hold you back! -
Congrats on this decision! You are going to love the new you! Stay strong, follow your plan and ENJOY!

Yes this is completely normal. Don't push it. Listen to your body. If you are full, stop eating. You eventually will work your way up to eating the 4 oz per meal. I am 6 months out and just started being able to eat the full 4 oz. It takes a while. Your stomach is still very swollen inside from surgery.

Poll for those at least 6 months PostOp
krista132 replied to Barry W's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As others have said above, it is such a life changing experience. I hope that if you move forward with it that you have the wonderful experiences that we all have had. Sure its hard, but we don't expect it to be a quick fix. - How long ago was your procedure? I will be 6 months post op next week - What was your starting BMI and what is it now? My starting BMI was 53.6 and now it is 38.8 - if you could magically go back in time and revisit your decision, would you still get the sleeve procedure? 100%. This was the best decision that I ever made for myself. It gave me a new found passion for life, energy to do it all and I am open to new experiences more than ever before. Good luck! -
Insurance called to tell me I was approved!
krista132 replied to losing100#'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Such an exciting phone call! Don't get caught in the "what ifs". Hopefully you have done all of your research so you know the things to do. The hard part is making the decision, so that's done. Now, just focus on your future in your new life. You are going to LOVE it! -
Perplexed and seeking advice
krista132 replied to kmj57's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Have you had your first appointment with your surgeon yet? What about your NUT? I would suggest talking to both of them. It isn't typical to not be retaining foods and liquids at 5 weeks out, but it does happen to some people. Start slow. Sometimes people like warm liquids, some like cold. It will depend on you and your body. Trust what it is saying to you. I would definitely talk to your doctors about it though. Good luck! It will get easier! -
Eating meals with other people
krista132 replied to byebyedarkpassenger's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It will get easier as you go along, trust me. If the conversation turns to you, just shut it down in a polite way. Make it known that you are ready to move onto the next topic of conversation. Sometimes, it is your friends trying to show that they take an interest in your new life. Its not always a bad thing. But, if you don't want to talk about it, say that and move on to the next topic. -
If it is a consistency of the drink issue, I would add more water. Doesn't matter how much water you add, as long as you drink it. I make my daily protein shakes with 24 oz of water instead of the 8 oz they suggest. I don't like it at a thick consistency, so that helps me,

Around month 3 post op, my wedding rings did not fit anymore (too big). What I did is that I took my wedding band and sized it down. I am keeping my engagement ring in the safe until I am done losing weight. Once I am done, I will get that sized down too. I do miss wearing it, but still happy to be wearing my wedding band. I am about due to get it sized down again too

That's awesome. Now go do it! And when you buy a smaller size, you will feel even better!! Congrats. -
Help/ right side pain
krista132 replied to drodriguez1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't know if you are having the same issue that I did. I had a back side pain too about 4-5 days in. I panicked and thought it was kidney stones. But, after talking with my doctor and getting up and moving around more I realized it was from laying down so much. Also, we tend to bend weird and not move as much because your stomach is sore now. Try moving around more or propping yourself up more instead of laying down in the same position and it should go away. Good luck! -
Feel like I'm not getting enough
krista132 replied to Amber M Garrett's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It definitely is harder to get things down than before, but each day will become easier. As far as vitamins, do you have the chewy ones? I would do those rather than actual pills. Its going to be easier on your stomach. As others mentioned above, focus on hydrating first and then put more water in your protein. I put 28 oz of water in with my 1 scoop of protein because it is easier for me to drink that way. Add more if it makes it taste better to you. -
Hair Loss Post-Op
krista132 replied to Life is Good in WY's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My hair is pretty thin to begin with but luckily haven't had issues with clumps coming out. But, I definitely notice how unhealthy my hair is now. It is breaking like crazy and looks like I have layers in my hair when I don't. Its a small price we pay for what our futures will hold with being healthy, but I understand the concern. I want my hair to go back to normal too! -
Did I eat too much?
krista132 replied to sleevedlife123's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think that everyone is different. I never had problems with eating after getting the sleeve. Trust me though, it will stop you. I am at about 3.5 oz now at 5 months out not even up to the 4 oz yet. Just trust how you feel, don't try to stuff yourself but don't under eat either. -
Congrats! So exciting! I hear of lots of band to sleeve conversions. Such an exciting new adventure for you!
-
Completely normal. And I agree with your husband. Don't weigh yourself more than once a week. It will drive you crazy. Trust me, the weight will come off. You are only 5 days in! Don't stress.

2 pounds and I will be overweight!
krista132 replied to nprcowboy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
SO exciting for you. That is a huge mile stone and one that would mean so much to all of us. That's the beauty of these forums, we all understand things that others from the outside world would not. Congrats to you on your accomplishment! -
I did the exact same as @@bookworm I cut out all caffeine, all carbonated beverages and all carbs. While I might still have a bite of something, I actively carbs. As far as excerise goes, I go to spin class twice a week and love it. I also bought a fibit and walk 10K steps per day so that keeps me on track too. Just find the things that work for you and stick to them. Good luck!

Going crazy and scared
krista132 replied to sbg224's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with the others above. Don't compare yourself. Just focus on the fact that you have lost this amount. Its a great feat already! It will come off sometimes slow, sometimes fast and sometimes not at all. But, know that it is all part of your journey and that losing anything is better than constantly gaining (which is what most of us were doing before the magical sleeve). Take yourself shopping, look at old photos of yourself. Just spend time on you. Those things will make you feel better. Trust me, there is nothing like buying a smaller size article of clothing to boost your confidence! -
When did people notice your weight loss?
krista132 replied to newbeginnings1965's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
As others mentioned above, I think that everyone is different. Some people noticed at 25 lbs and then now that I am at 85 lbs down a lot of people notice. People are nice and respectful about it though. Its a fun journey! Take time for you to enjoy it! And GO SHOPPING. I promise its so fun now. And once you get clothes that fit you, you will enjoy it more. -
Don't let yourself be discouraged by others. If they are real friends, ask them to not do that anymore. Focus on your path and your journey and don't let others comments effect how you feel about your progress.
-
How exciting for you! Enjoy the process, take time to heal and focus on yourself! Good luck.
