Please get this checked out! I had pains for about a month as you described and did nothing until I woke up one night in the worst pain of my life. Turns out I had a perforated ulcer. I had surgery and was in the hospital for a week. I almost and could have died. I will also note that I did everything by the book after my RNY. No caffeine no nsaids etc. I was by no means at high risk for an ulcer. It could have been prevented if I acted on my instincts about the burning pain, I wouldn't want what happened to me to happen to anyone.

????Is diarrhea only "dumping"?
RKS1983WI replied to cocoa8utter's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Plain nonfat Greek yogurt is a good substitute for mayo, sour cream etc you can season it up. Mayo doesn't make me feel great and the yogurt is high in protein! -
Sshield8, Hi! I'm doing better today than ever. I had to stay 5 days due to a small leak in my stomach and I was losing blood, so they stopped my blood thinner and a certain pain med and all was under control fairly quick. I'm really sore in the one spot kind of inside my main incision. I'm super shocked at how awesome my incisions are healing. My back is also hurting, it could be due to the fact I've been sleeping in my recliner. I tried my bed, I'm not ready to lay flat quite yet. **warning not the most pleasant topic to follow** I couldn't urinate in the hospital, I guess it had something to do with the anesthesia. So I had to be catheterized 3 times, 2 times they just drained my bladder then they decided to leave it in the rest of the time....well, I ended up with a UTI! Just what I needed, another pill to take. Also they gave me carnation SF Breakfast and I had diarrhea in the hospital:( I've been dealing with the opposite now that I am home. I really struggle to get in all of my protein, my 64 Oz water, but I'm working on it. Eating has been an adventure, everything I eat has gone down okay, unless I spit it out because I can't take the taste. Nothing tastes good to me anymore. Well that sums up a bit about my story. Oh, yes I also weighed myself when I got home, contrary to what I have heard to do, and I gained 3lbs. But I've been losing about a pound a day now. How are you feeling? How was your experience?

How to prepare for the hospital
RKS1983WI replied to chasingchloee's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started my liquid diet on the 7th, I'm having surgery September 21st. Day 1 was rough, especially cooking for my children, my husband is super supportive and doing the liquid diet with me. I definitely recognize my head hunger vs physical hunger. I'm really not starving, but I think about food and what I want to be eating, so I just keep busy and try to keep my mind on other things. I also cook yummy healthy soups, strain the broth for now, freeze the left overs for puree stage. -
Looking for preop friends :)

Welcome @@LadyReyven! Congrats on your surgery date! I'm having roux en y on Sept. 21st. My pre op diet starts on the 7th. I have read forums where they say they are on LSD... the Liver Shrinking Diet. I will be on shakes but can have some broth, a little tomato juice, jello, popsicles and clear sugar free liquids. I have been very emotional lately, really strange! I know I'm nervous, but it has gotten better. I imagine I will be even more nervous as it gets closer but I take one day at a time. I am also very excited. I watch videos on youtube, Mellie Mae has a great journey, I've read a few books and go to a support group. It is completely normal to be worried or nervous, it's a major surgery and life change. Those feelings will subside. Overall I'm really excited and looking forward to this! -

That should definitely help having fish etc. Being 3 wks. Good luck! I have found my ninja blender to be my best friend with the shakes, I feel more satisfied with them blended with ice, like I'm getting something a bit more substantial lol, I'm hoping that helps on my all liquid! -

Wow 3 weeks! Is it pretty strict? I can have 4-5 shakes a day 2 cups of broth 1/2 cup tomato juice, SF jello and SF popsicles, lots of water and drinks like crystal light, v8 splash, fruit 2o etc. We can do this!!! -

Yes! It can't come soon enough, I'm excited, nervous, scared.. soo many emotions. I got my approval and cried throughout the day, I knew I would cry if I was denied, never expected to cry for an approval. Do you have a 2 week pre op liquid diet? Raquel -

Congratulations toasty! I'm waiting for my approval, fingers crossed! But they said my surgery will be early to mid September if approved. Did you get a quick response from your insurance?
