    December 2018 Sleevers!

Hey family, had my surgery 12/3. Doing fantastically! Walk walk walk. Sipping is super difficult in the first 4 days I’d say. Yesterday was day 2 of my all liquids and I realized when I do soup it is best to eat off a spoon. When I sipped from a coffee cup, i keep getting really bloated. Take your time and recover. Right now, 6 days out my itchy incisions are the absolute worst! Been taking Benadryl to help with the itchies. Otherwise, you GOT this! Best of luck on your day!! ❤️
  2. 12/3 and can’t wait! 17 days!!!

    December 2018 Sleevers!

Docs office called me back and said there is no pre-op diet to follow per-se. She said they only require for higher BMI’s. 🤔 I guess that is good for me? I may just do the liquid thing for the weekend before. It seems odd that there isn’t some ‘flush’ needed before they remove 85% of your stomach?

I had 6 months of pre-op check in’s but they were all with the nutritionist, basically prepping you for post-op. But I do have a FINAL nutritionist visit next Monday which is 2 hours long. I know we do get pre-op soap at that class. So I’m sure that is where I will find out about pre-op diet.

My surgery is 12/3 and nobody has told me about any pre-op/liquid diet. I’m starting to worry I may have missed the memo! I have my last nutrition visit 11/19, maybe I hear then? But I did just call the docs office and left a message to check.

Myhorseisfattoo- My bestie is going thru Hershey Medical Center. Is that the same as PS Health? My mom has her bypass at HMC in 1987/88 era. Still doing wonderfully! Should have listened to her first go-around and just had the bypass. Doc said 10 years ago that I didn’t qualify for bypass. Best of luck and keep in touch!!

    December 2018 Sleevers!

December 3rd, 2018!! So excited. I had a lapband 10 years ago and lost over 100lbs. Sadly it slipped severely, HAD to be removed 2+ years ago. I’m back to 300 lbs now and so ready for my sleeve!!!
  9. There is an insurance lady who coordinates but she thinks the revision surgery may not be covered. She said the removal will be but possibly not the 2nd surgery. Ow they have me going for blood work and tests to see if they can classify me with a co-morbidity. Unfortunately it is purely genetics and I am a unicorn. My original surgeon said I was the healthiest morbidly obese patient he had ever met! ????
  10. I thought I would put this out to see if anyone has advice or experience. I had LapBand done 6 years ago. About 3 years in my weight loss slowed but I was down overall 100 lbs. I went to my doctor with awful reflux so they put me on Prilosec. Fast forward 3 more years, I didn't need the meds, my band slipped! Now 3 years of it off key, it has really screwed up my stomach and has got to be removed. I am terrified since in the last 2 years I have gained back 50 lbs already. Insurance says since I am more than 2 years post-op they won't do anything but have the band removed. Doc really wants to remove it and do sleeve for me but I am worried I am in for a fight with the insurance. Any advice on this?
