I Fell Off The Wagon Big Time. Please Judge Me Harshly!
kstellflug replied to Proud2BMe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You sound like me and I can guarantee we're plenty hard on ourselves without needing anyone else to judge us. Forgive and treat yourself with love and respect, like you probably give to everyone around you but yourself. It's so hard to turn all of those loving thoughts to ourselves like we do all the mean and punishing thoughts! Chin up! -
Lose more weight when I eat a lot more
kstellflug replied to DIESELD47's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are fueling your body. It's keeping your metabolism revved up so your body is acting like a furnace for that excess fat. Celebrate! You're doing great! -
Sending an ehug your way! I have really been fighting some depression these last few weeks.

Tiereeeeeed. Zzzzzzzzz
kstellflug replied to JudeaJordon's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hang in there and don't stress. All the sudden around the 6 week mark I started feeling peppy again and that fatigued feeling went away. -
What are some of your NSV
kstellflug replied to byebyefat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Rode on a plane a few weeks ago...didn't need a seat belt extender, the arm rest was down and not squeezing down on the side of my thigh, and there was actual air and light between my stomach and my tray table when I put it down! -
I am so right there with you on this issue. I feel like I'm right back to my old self, eating, eating, eating! I keep justifying it by telling myself, "it's not as much as you used to eat." But it's about the behavior, quality not quantity. Struggling!

2 days post op and off pain meds
kstellflug replied to dpuppa98's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good for you! I stopped my pain meds about 2 days out also, other than taking some before bed. Today is day 9 post-op for me. Been reading good things about the nectar protein. I think I will order some of their sample packs to try flavors. Do you have any favorites? -

Type 1 Juvenile Diabetic getting sleeved.... Soooo Ready!
kstellflug replied to Litzy's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
T1 diabetic also, sleeved 5 days ago. So far my sugars have been doing pretty great. I'm on injections and have been decreasing my lantus one unit each night ever since surgery, and that's after I already cut the dose in half before I went into hospital! Have been taking little 2 unit shots of humalog only a couple times a day. I know this surgery is saving my life already! Diabetes doesn't ever go away for us, but I think a smaller me is going to make it so much easier to manage! Good luck to you! -

Hi! I had my surgery in Post Falls at Surgical Bariatrics Northwest. Where in the Palouse? I just met another gal who had her surgery same day/same doctor as me. She's in Lewiston. How are you feeling and doing?
-
I decided to be very open about it and I have received an overwhelming amount of positive support from family, work and friends. For me, talking about it was the final step in letting go of my shame about being overweight. And, you have to remember, the weight loss will be extreme, so at a certain point, do you want people to wonder or be concerned about your health? Personally, once I owned my decision, the doors flew open and I felt like a huge weight, pardon the pun, had been lifted for me mentally! Good luck on your journey.

I agree with the previous post! I am self-pay also and I just keep telling people that ask why, "I'm doing it to save my life!" And isn't that worth any amount??

Any August surgeries in Idaho?
kstellflug replied to bonniegold's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Honestly, the Isagenix Protein powder doesn't have enough protein grams for my liking, so I'm actually trying out some others. Jenni, the dietician gave me some samples of unjury, which I think the office has available. I made the unflavored one with sf Jello today and it turned out great. I like the Optimum Nutrition that you can buy at costco, 24 g of protein per scoop and it's really creamy. At some point, I'd also like to try the Isopure and the Syntrax nectar products because I've read a lot of really good reviews. I'm going to stick with the other Isagenix products like Replenish and Ionix Supreme because they're not full of sugar and have good Vitamins. I'm so glad to get connected with you too! Take care of yourself! -
Any August surgeries in Idaho?
kstellflug replied to bonniegold's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Lol. We must have been! I've been doing great since getting home. Try some drinks with electrolytes, like G2 Gatorade or Vitamin Water Zero. That's helped me get on the other side of my dehydration. Personally, I use an Isagenix product called Replenish that I can just mix in my water. I've been sipping on about 40 ounces of that and water, as well as some Bariwise hot chocolate that has protein added. Haven't had any upset stomach so far. At first, my "sips" were too big and I had to adjust that, but some swelling must be going down because today I haven't noticed that as much. I'm in Spokane Valley. -
Anyone still on this site? I'm in Spokane too. Just had my surgery last Friday. Would love to find some people to talk to. Kim

Any August surgeries in Idaho?
kstellflug replied to bonniegold's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi there! Dr. Pennings just did my surgery this past Friday. It went great and I am doing great so far. Are you planning to go to his support group, or do you know of some in Spokane? I'm willing to drive over from Spokane Valley, but definitely think I will be more regular at one closer to home. Kim -
How is it that we always find these forums and information after we've gone it alone?! I just had my sleeve surgery 3 days ago and searched for other type 1's doing the same. Anyway, glad to find these posts. Don't know if anyone is still on here, but hopefully the next person will find these and feel better about their decisions. I'm doing fantastic so far, have reduced my insulin needs already by more than half. I did run a bit high before and during the surgery, but that was on purpose to keep from getting lows. Can't wait to see what it will be like one week, one month, one year from now. Did this to save my life, so now I'm ready to start living it!!!

Insulin Pumpers having VSG?
kstellflug replied to Lynnette43's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
cant believe they would recommend RNY over VSG for insulin dependent diabetic...the biggest thing with RNY is that any kind of sugar makes you sick, so what do they think you're going to do when you have a low blood sugar? Wish it away? There's a lot of ignorance out there in the medical community. Don't take one answer as gospel! -
Warning to my fellow Diabetic Sleevers
kstellflug replied to badabing40's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am a T1 diabetic and just got sleeved on August 14th. I lost about 30 pounds in approximately 3 1/2 months before my surgery and reduced my insulin quite a bit, from 50 to 40 units of lantus and from 50-60 down to about 20 of humalog a day. Since my surgery, I have again decreased my lantus down to 20 units and my humalog down to about 5 units a day. The insulin will never go away for me, but I'm so glad to already be reducing my needs only 3 days post-op. I feel like I had success before with losing thru diet and exercise, and I am confident that the surgery will just continue to lose successfully.
