newbeginnings1965 replied to Helen233's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You should not feel any guilt. Now is the time to eat for your health through the chemo. Talk to ur nut or ask ur oncologist for a referral to a oncology NUT. ur first concern is beating the cancer. Prayers to you -

Mood taking a dive
newbeginnings1965 replied to Shainadelphia's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Some research says that alow carb diet can depress mood, also we lost a way to improve mood, eating. I have had more anxiety so i understand -
Went back for pre-service after 3 1/2 weeks and had students after 4 1/2, teacher. It was very tough and i had no problems. This past week, 6 weeks out was the first time i felt the energy return. It is important to remember to drink and eat. I could not have gone back at 2 weeks. Maybe if i could have worked 1/2 day, but that would not have been a choice.

July 27th sleevers!?!?
newbeginnings1965 replied to jayali's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on 7/29 and have lost only 24 lbs since surgery, really thought it would be more the first 2-3 months. I am eating 800-1000 calories a day and cant function on less. I could exercise more, but the 200 calories i lose is not a big deal for weight loss, instead i should exercise for mental health and build muscles -
I have been treated for anxiety for many years. I am 7 weeks out and have found that some days my anxiety is worse than normal. I am not sure if it is because i cant reduce it with food or it is the low carb diet. I read thay a low carb diet could negatively impact mood, then i read on another site it makes it better. I see my wl dr on monday and my psychiatrist next month so i will talk to them about it, but wondering in anyone had had the same issue.

Sleeved 7/29, hw 245, sw 237, cw 215. I have lost 7 lbs in the past month. Not a complete stall, but is frustrating. Thought i would lose pretty quickly the first 3 months before settling in to 2-3 lbs a week, did not expect it to happen at month 2. My bmi was 36 at surgery.

Worried about my protein intake
newbeginnings1965 replied to tinatina119's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Get non flavored protein powder and add to soups, yogurt, or any other thing you are eating/drinking. I just did not add to yo plain water. I found premier chocolate shakes the best -
I was on a liquid diet 2 weeks before and for 3 weeks after, that 5 weeks of liquid was maddening. It is difficult and i hope you know that most people on this site are here for you. Of course we do not want anyone to do something dangerous, wanting to eat during the liquid stage is quite normal, take each day one by one. I am now 6 weeks out and can eat most things. I do not eat meat so that is not an issue, the next thing to try raw veggies, salad.

Went shopping yesterday and for the first time bought NON plus size clothes
newbeginnings1965 replied to krista132's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

Has anyone tried increasing their calories to end a stall. For those of us who have been on diet after diet, trying to eat more calories seems wrong. All the research i have done says that women should not eat less then 1200 calories. For the first 3 weeks i was at 600 calories, now i am trying to increase my calories to 800. I made it yesterday but it was not easy. I do feel better with the additional calories but it is too early to see if it breaks me out of my 3 week stall. Anyone see success?

I had a 50th birthday dinner and choose to have my first post-op drink. I had my favorite, a margerita. I ate before the party and it took my 2 hours to drink it, but it was enjoyable. My new eating plsn is for life, so if i want a drink once in awhile i will have one, just can't eat while drinking

Struggling with no carbs
newbeginnings1965 replied to vsg_queen24's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I found that 20-30 carbs did not make me feel well. I upped them to 40-50, still within my dr range. Mainly from fruits and veggies. Occasionally I will have a few rice cracker with guacamole or a wheat cracker with Peanut Butter. Talk to your NUT and request more carbs.
