Weight gain 4 yrs post rny
Cervidae replied to queenbug's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I would recommend finding a support group. Being accountable and sharing your issues and triumphs with other people who know what you're dealing with can help so, so much. -
Hello! Welcome aboard. It will go by faster than you can believe.

Trying to get Pregnant-Sleeve or Bypass
Cervidae replied to thisisme's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm only 6 weeks post RNY, but I can tell you that from what I've learned, the bypass is the better bet for women with PCOS, partly because most bypass patients have a higher amount of excess weight lost and a higher percentage of chance that the weight will stay off long-term. I have a pretty bad case of it, and I'm hoping someday I might be able to have a normal reproductive system and eventually get pregnant. I haven't seen much of a change yet besides my skin clearing up, but I'm hopeful for the future, as a lot of women have greatly decreased symptoms, or even go into remission. And I'm only 6 weeks out. Here's hoping! -
Gallbladder sludge preop, removal or not?
Cervidae replied to ange117's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
My surgeon and every other surgeon at my bariatric center also removes the gallbladder at the time of surgery if you still have one. It just makes sense, considering most people end up with gallbladder issues after surgery and end up needing it out anyway. Why go under the knife twice? I had mine out last summer, but I definitely would have been happy to get rid of it 6 weeks ago when i had surgery because I just don't want to deal with the high chance that there will be complications. -
Fear leading up to surgery
Cervidae replied to goblue9280's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the same fears. They are completely normal. We're all here to support you! You'll do just fine, and soon all this hard work will be paying off for you. I had my RNY 6 weeks ago today, and I regret nothing and feel great, and I'm down about 25 pounds. Feel free to friend/message me anytime. -

You and I are in a very similar situation. Tomorrow is six weeks for me, and I've lost 26 pounds. I completely understand your frustration and discouragement. We can only do what we're supposed to do and hope things get better. Regardless, the weight will come off and it will all be worth it, I'm sure of it. We both just have to keep thinking about that, and take care of ourselves in the meantime. Message me anytime if you want to talk/rant/commiserate. You and I are in a very similar situation. I had cheesecake flavored pudding (sugar free, fat free) with fair life milk and a scoop of protein powder earlier. The chocolate body fortress powder I have made it taste like brownie cheesecake. So good.

@@mykdzmom yes, chicken breasts with any excess fat trimmed off.

1 week post op and a bit confused
Cervidae replied to HeatherMiguel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told to take a marble sized sip every couple of minutes. liquid does not stay in our pouch nearly as long as pureed food or solid food does. Just take a small sip, really try to feel what your stomach is telling you, then take another, and just go slowly from there. I have a 14 oz Water bottle, and it usually takes me an hour or so to drink it, with some breaks as I do other stuff. -
Damn. Back to clear liquids!
Cervidae replied to toasty's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had issues with chicken too when I first started pureed foods 3 weeks ago. I found that pureeing it with greek yogurt or cottage cheese and a little bit of milk fixed the problem. and that also gives you a little bit of variation, while at the same time increasing the protein. My meal plan calls for 4 oz per meal, three meals a day, protein first, and I don't have too much trouble getting it down usually. Hope this helps. -
1 week post op and a bit confused
Cervidae replied to HeatherMiguel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was 5 weeks post op on Monday, and my experience was similar to yours. Turns out, the nerves in your stomach aren't healed yet, so you aren't going to really be feeling a whole lot when you drink, especially if you have no other complications. I have not, even a single time, experienced the pain most people talk about experiencing if they overeat. I do, however, feel full now. It feels similar to having to burp, or what that felt like before surgery. Your stomach and nerves will catch up. In the mean time, just take care of yourself and follow your surgeon's plan very carefully. Even if it feels like you can drink or eat more, stick to your measured amount and you'll be just fine in the end. -
I've definitely experienced this since my surgery 5 weeks ago. I don't usually go as far as actually chewing it up and spitting it out, but there have definitely been times where I smelled something or saw something that just seemed so delicious, and I craved it like crazy, even though I don't actually WANT it. Does that make any sense? I chalk it up to head hunger and our previous habits of self-comforting with food. That, and the fact that a lot of these foods I've been craving have a lot of sugar, which is known to be addictive. I think eventually I will grow out of it. Good luck to you!

I like throwing in chicken, lite red wine vinegar dressing, cumin, garlic, diced onions, and a little bit of chicken stock. Makes the most delicious chicken ever, especially when it falls apart and becomes red wine vinegar pulled chicken. Yum!

How many Pills after surgery
Cervidae replied to rockstar33's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
my med list looks like this: morning - 2 Calcium citrate chewables, 1 Multivitamin chewable, 1 iron/b12/folic acid capsule. evening- 2 calcium citrate chewables, 1 Biotin capsule I also take 1 krill oil soft gel and birth control, and I am on an antacid for 2 months post surgery (less than a month more to go of those). But those are extras I take for PCOS and post op healing reasons. All in all, not bad at all. My Multivitamins and calcium citrate come from Opurity, and I like them a lot and trust the brand, though the multivitamin is a little too sour tasting for me. The calcium citrate is berry citrus flavor and it's actually kind of good-tasting. Hope this helps! -
I slept in a recliner in my living room for the first week, almost. Moving back to me bed was heaven! But yeah, recliner is a good idea if laying flat is hurting you.

Official August thread! Where are you guys?
Cervidae replied to Faithoftheheart's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was 5 weeks post op yesterday. I start soft foods next week (thankfully, as pureed food is getting sooo boring). I have no pain whatsoever but I am still very tired. -
Liquid diet well frankly...
