@@CowgirlJane - "why I haven't lost 100 pounds in the first month" I don't know why, but this is hilarious to me. XD
-
I haven't tried it yet, but it is on my list of approved foods. Maybe put some lemon juice in with it? Let us know how it goes, I'm curious but a wuss about trying it, hehe.

I had a really hard time in the beginning, too. It gets better. Try experimenting with different temperatures of Water. Some people like it ice cold (like me) and some people need to even warm it up a little so it doesn't make them nauseous. It's possible that the temp of the water might be what's bothering your tummy. A couple people at my support group even make the water mildly hot, like tea. Whatever works for you. As for 13 pounds in three weeks, I know that seems like less than some people, but it's still such a good amount to lose. I'm almost 9 weeks out and I've lost 43 pounds... so much less than a lot of people do, and I started in the high 300s. There's no telling how your body will work, or if you start slow and suddenly speed up, or if you speed up then stall for a week or two, or anything else. Look at the big picture (easier said than done, I know) - you have lost 13 pounds in only three weeks. You're doing great. Just continue to try to take care of yourself, and if you need to be admitted to get a bag of fluids, try not to be too discouraged. These things happen to a fair amount of people, and it's not the end of the world or the end of your success, it's just a little bump in the road. Give yourself time, and cut yourself some slack. You're doing well.

Taking Heed with Hummus.

Just like before surgery, everything we eat in moderation. 1 ounce of pistachios = good. Half a cup of pistachios = not so good. -
Holy crap, 21 pounds in 3 weeks. o.O I'm so envious! I'm almost 9 weeks out and I'm stuck at 43 pounds lost since surgery. XD Congrats on your NSV! It's a wonderful feeling to be getting our bodies back, isn't it. Just keep listening to it and taking good care of yourself, and good things will keep happening. Thanks for sharing!

Finally got insurance approval and now scared of surgery
Cervidae replied to slimjen's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The actual experience of going under is SO much less scary than the concept of it. Most likely, you won't even remember falling asleep. I've been under anesthesia three times, once for tonsils, once for gall bladder last summer, and for my RNY two months ago. The anesthesiologist will say something like "count back from ten" and I honestly can never remember getting past 9. When I had my RNY, the doctor asked me about my favorite place to be, and I VERY vaguely remember beginning to tell her about this beach in San Diego and then the next thing I know, I'm waking up. It's so much less of a big scary thing than it sounds. You'll be just fine, don't worry. I know that is easier said than done, but the scariness of it is just NOTHING compared to what it actually feels like and the great things that come after surgery. -
Complicaciones con la banda
Cervidae replied to Juan Gonzalez's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions

Definitely wait to talk to your nut about it. Not worth the risk of harming your new tummy -
What is on your Trader Joe's Shopping List?
Cervidae replied to OutsideMatchInside's topic in Food and Nutrition
light string cheese, canned white meat chicken in broth, black bean Soup, organic coconut oil, their sriracha and green dragon sauce (I ADORE these sauces. I seriously could just drink them out of the bottle), and they currently sell spaghetti squash at a really good price. -

Very interesting. I'm two months post op and you're losing faster than me. >.> Damn me and my PCOS body, lol. I'm interested to see the continuation of your experiment. -

I'm so sad! I put the Quest pasta in my cart this morning but had to wait until just now to actually place my order, and it's already sold out. :'( I suppose that means you guys have gotten more traffic than you anticipated. Congrats. XD -
I drink 75-80 ounces of cold water daily. And I'm two months out, so I only drink one protein shake, somethings witga few ounces of added fat free fairlife milk, a day.

SO AWESOME! Thank you, this is a lifesaver! <3 -
Getting enough calories and protein, as well as enough water, are all extremely important. It's great that she's lost so much weight but it sounds like she may be hurting her body a little in the process. Also, going a long time without eating is TERRIBLE for you and for your metabolism. Make her take care of herself!

Light cream cheese? American cheese? Cheddar string cheese?
Cervidae replied to sarahbethemails's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm a cheese lover too, and get a decent amount of my protein from light string cheese sticks from Trader Joe's, low fat or fat free cottage cheese, and mozzarella shredded cheese. -
I felt this in the beginning too. I take krill oil because I have PCOS and it helps my skin/hair/nails. The first night I tried taking it, it got stuck, and I ended up puking up the krill oil and the mostly dissolved capsule. It was TERRIBLE. But I promise you it does get better. Just be patient and take it slowly. Feel free to message me anytime if I can help you with anything.

Is dumping syndrome forever?
Cervidae replied to sarahbethemails's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Eggs aren't a problem for most people. Just relax, take a deep breath, and try a little bite. If you take a small bite and feel fine 5 minutes later, then you're fine. Don't worry so much! I know it's easier said than done but freaking yourself out could make you sick by itself. Take it slowly and only eat things on your list and you will be just fine. -

Is dumping syndrome forever?
Cervidae replied to sarahbethemails's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
What are you eating that is causing you dumping syndrome? -
I would like to know the answers to these questions as well. I'm down almost a hundred pounds since the beginning of all this, and 40 since surgery, but I've still got a substantial amount of junk in the trunk and I fear judgement and not fitting into the machines as well. D:

Hello people! I'm coming up on 6 weeks since my RNY. Everything is generally going really well. Besides being tired and getting exhausted easily, I have zero problems, and I'm losing at a very reasonable (albeit slower than I had hoped) rate. Monday, I will finally transition from pureed foods to soft foods! Hurray! I have made a few friends on MyFitnessPal from this website, and I'm looking for more. I find that seeing other people working on the same thing I am helps me to stay motivated and inspired. So, if you use MyFitnessPal and would like to have another friend, feel free to add me! My username is Twasarunbyfruiting. I look forward to meeting new people!
