  1. Congratulations! You look incredible. 100 pounds is no small feat! Thank you for sharing.
  2. it's possible that you are eating a bit too quickly. I actually get a burpy kind of feeling when I'm full, and that's my signal to either slow waayyyy down or stop eating for now.

    Eating 13 days post op

it's true that your stomach can only hold a certain amount. But if you're drinking slowly, some of the Fluid will have passed through your stomach before you finish the whole 6 oz. Everything moves through much faster now. Just follow the plan, and keep taking care of yourself, and the weight will fall off. I think a lot of people have that anxiety that something will go wrong, or the surgery won't work, etc. But the scariest part is over, now it's all about focusing on your health and healing. You'll do just fine.

Welcome Good to hear you are doing well.

    Need a buddy

Yes, I understand. I feel the same way sometimes. Like I'm just separated from other people. This is a huge life change, as big as getting married or having children. It would be crazy if we didn't have some strong, conflicting emotions about it and during it. People here care. Feel free to PM me if you'd like.

    Emojis

It's completely normal to be all over the place emotionally. This is a huge change you're going through and there are even bigger changes coming soon. I'd be worried if you didn't care. But you can do it, and you won't regret it when all is said and done. Good luck!

    Pre-op diet

December 22nd is my birthday! Obviously you're going to have good luck that day. And I know this pre op diet stinks and feels really hard, but it gets easier. You can do it! All your hard work will pay off in a fantastic way in the end. Keep your chin up and your determination strong.

    Help! I need recommendations

Premier Protein is really yummy, and it doesn't have any sugar alcohols and only 1 gram of sugar. I like the chocolate best.
  11. I would recommend getting the Protein bouillon and hot chocolate from the bariatric pal store. They come in packets, usually 7 to a box, and they only need 8 ounces of hot Water to dissolve in. Plus, they are healthy and have at least 15g of protein per pack. I always have a couple packets with me just in case. the beef is the best bouillon flavor and the raspberry hot chocolate is sooo good.
  12. Vyvanse was always the most effective (really the only) medicine for me to treat my ADHD. I've been off of it for a year but I'm contemplating going back on it. No weird side effects? Doesn't it make you just hate food and have trouble getting all your calories in? I've worried about this.

    New guy from Ontario

Hello and welcome! I had my RNY in August and I'm down about 70 pounds since then. I started thinking about it last year, and the program took about 7 months once I got going. Feel free to friend/message me if there's anything I can do to help you. It's a great site full of awesome people here.
  14. My boyfriend has actually mentioned something like this, though I haven't noticed, which is odd because my sense of smell has been near superhuman levels since surgery. I smell Water when I turn the sink on. But he says that I don't smell better or worse, just different. It would make sense, because our bodies go through HUUUUUGE metabolic and hormonal changes.
  15. I'm going to second pretty much everything @@miiasan said. Eating less can actually put your body into starvation mode and make you gain or stall. Your body has been through a HUGE trauma and it needs time to level out. Right now evrey part of your body is freaking out trying to restore the balance that's been thrown off, or heal the incisions in your skin, muscle, and organs. Be patient. I have PCOS and a bad metabolic resistance as well, and I lost very slowly at first. Once it started picking up, I often lost a pound a day, or close to it. Now I'm stalled again for the past two weeks. But I know it will pick up again. Us ladies with PCOS just have to deal with even more issues preventing us from losing, even after surgery. But you WILL get there. I'm less than 4 months out and I'm almost 70 pounds down, and it feels like it snuck up on me. I think back to my first month, and second, and how discouraged I was that I was losing so freaking slowly. But soon it won't even matter to you. Just get in all your Protein, Water, and Vitamins, and you will succeed. Also be prepared to possibly recover a bit slower than others. I healed quickly but I'm still in the phase where I get tired easily. It's slowwwwwly getting better. I know it's hard, but try not to stress about it.
  16. Welcome Parm! I had my RNY in mid-August. If there is anything I can do to help you, don't hesitate to ask. This is a great resource full of awesome people.

When did you have surgery? And which one did you have?
  18. 16 weeks post op today. Down 69 pounds since surgery, 84 pounds since the beginning of the program, and 124 pounds since my heaviest last summer. I also believe my stall may be ending. It's a good day. :)

That is so awesome! WOW! :)

  19. I'm guessing it's at least a couple weeks before you'll even feel up to a long snowmobile ride. I think this is probably something you're going to have to ask your surgeon about and listen to your own body. Sounds like a really fun trip though.

    Piggin' out ????

A lot of people, myself included, have a sort of food funeral before the preop diet. It's perfectly normal to be aware that there are foods you won't be able to eat for a long time after surgery or ever again and to want to eat those foods as one last hurrah but believe me, you'll want to take it easy. The more crap you put into your body right before you "de-junk" on the preop diet the harder it's going to be and the worse you're going to feel. Especially if these are very carby or surgery. Caffeine is another thing to be careful for. The withdrawal has been awful for some people who drank it regularly and then had to stop. Not to mention, the whole point of the preop diet is to prepare your body for surgery. So depending on what you want to be pigging out on, just be careful. Most likely maintaining discipline now would help you a lot when the real hard part comes. Honestly sometimes I wish I had eaten a whole 6 pack of ramen noodles by myself before surgery, but looking back now I'm really glad I didn't. Dealing with the changes that come with surgery takes mental fortitude and stamina, and putting an addictive substance into my body in large amounts right before having to give it up forever would have just been unnecessarily cruel to my body and my mind. My "last meal" was a bourbon street chicken and onions with red skin potatoes at Applebee's.

    what's your fat habit?

@@Warriorgyrl I'm still over 300 pounds, so our experiences are probably going to be vastly different, as I started far heavier than you. It's taken me about a year to lose 120 pounds. I've lost about 80 of those pounds in the last 4 months. It's been a real journey. XD

    Finally got new bras!

@@liannatx that's true. I know how taxing on the body having big breasts can be. I suppose I just wish I could have kept my high Cs. Then again, I barely recognize my body at all anymore, so I'm going to have to get used to a lot of big changes.
  23. Cervidae

    what's your fat habit?

I always give myself SO MUCH room when I push a chair out to get up, or open a door and walk through, or if I'm carrying something bulky. I keep thinking there is an extra 120-pounds worth of me but it's not here anymore, so I sometimes feel like I'm accidentally paranoid about bumping into things even though I have a ton more room than I now need.
  24. I also really like https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCYSpwzYZVMq2DWYaEY6otXg Her name is Melissa or Mellie May. I watched every single on of her videos before surgery. It took days but greatly decreased my anxiety. Now, after surgery, I enjoy her videos because she holds giveaways and is very honest and open about life after her RNY. She's a great resource and very nice. I have her friended on Facebook.
  25. The World According To EggFace is my favorite! She is so down to earth and forthright with everything. She also obviously puts a ton of time, effort, and love into her blog, and really wants to help people by offering all of her experiences. The good, the bad, the ugly and the awesome!
