sounds like you're doing really well, and that risk you took is paying off! Congrats.

So sorry about your puppy. I wish I could offer more than my condolences.

    3 month post op

lean protein like chicken, turkey, tuna. yogurt and cottage cheese, mozzarella and mild cheddar cheeses. bananas and other soft fruit when I could fit it in. Refried beans and eggs were a favorite, with a sprinkle of cheese. A cheese stick rolled up in a slice of lunch meat was great too, but it was a little too much for me to eat in one meal. Chili (I prefer to make my own but in a pinch a small chili from wendy's would sooth my stomach for some reason). I think I had started protein bars by then too, though I could only eat half at a time and it took a long while. Hope this helps.

    Week 3 stall

different people swear by different things but the reality is, you just have to keep up with your program and your body will decide when it's good and ready to start losing again. It will pass!

    Itching skin

Oh, also, a suggestion: either buy or make your own sugar scrub. If it's dry skin, which is what it most likely is, a sugar scrub will feel incredible and it will exfoliate your skin so when you put on lotion after your shower, the skin will feel so much better and more moisturized.

    Itching skin

it could be a bunch of things. If you're still taking any of the heavy duty pain killers, those make most people pretty itchy, myself included. You could be a little dehydrated, or your skin could be really dry from the weird temps that most of the US is experiencing. Or it could be that your skin is just itchy because it's retracting a little as you rapidly lose weight, like letting some air out of a full balloon (that's the best analogy I can think of. I certainly relate to it!). I wouldn't worry about it unless it becomes so itchy that you're damaging your skin from scratching. Hope everything else is going well! Take care.

    Emotional Connections

Speaking as someone who had parents that NEVER would have worked together, kids are pretty perceptive, more than you may think. If they can tell you're unhappy, I bet they would be a lot more understanding and okay with it if you decided to split than you'd think they would be. It's no one's place but your own to know what is the right thing for you, but if most of your worry and hesitation comes from worrying about being alone then you just have to teach yourself that your worth is NOT decided by other people, and it's NOT decided by who is willing to stay with you even when the relationship is unhappy. You are worthy of the kind of relationship that will make you feel happy and loved and supported. Also I can guarantee you that your kids will be a lot happier if they know you are happier. It was the same with my parents. Whatever happens with you, I hope it's for the best and that you find some comfort and the love that you deserve.
  8. It appears that I'm going to stall for 2-3 weeks every month when I get my period. At least my stalls are consistent. :P

I hope so! Then again, the last two times this happened, it just picked up again eventually. I didn't lose a big chunk of weight or anything. But I've gotten to the point where I don't feel any sense of urgency to get where I need to be. I'm still significantly overweight but I'm just not worried about getting to my goal. I've been too lucky and blessed already to sweat future success. :)

I stall out about every 5 to 10lbs. No matter what I do only time breaks the stall. The only thing you can do is embrace it and don't put timelines on your goals. That way if you have a stall, it don't ruin your motivation.

  9. I would highly recommend wipies and chap stick. Those two were life savers for me! That, and a toothbrush... your mouth is going to be very dry and taste very odd.

    Taping?

i print out a simple template and measure once a month on the same day as my surgery (the 17th). Then I track it on myfitnesspal, so now I have a graph that shows me how I'm doing. Here's the template I use http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-sM8NcfUuc9A/TsFn1qtspVI/AAAAAAAABMk/xBlJwkk7xvw/s1600/Measurements+Sheet.png i know it says before and after but i just use the sheet for two months, cross out the before and after and just write which month it is that I'm recording. I have found it to be pretty comforting to see how things are moving.

I wonder if there's someplace to watch the show online for free. We don't have cable. Or even a TV. But I've always really wanted to watch it.

    STALL! HELP I need advice

not eating can be just as detrimental as eating too much in terms of losing weight. Also... you lost almost 2 pounds a day for the first couple weeks. Your body is probably just going a little insane, thinking you're starving to death and dying, and is trying to preserve what fat stores you have. Just keep up with your water, protein, and vitamins, and you WILL start losing again. Just have to be patient. In a couple months the stalls with have meant nothing because you will catch up. I mean, you've lost 30 pounds in less than 30 days. That is NOT normal for our bodies, so it makes sense that they would need a little break every now and then. But you really, REALLY have to keep up with getting food and water into you. It's vital for your health, and that's the whole reason you had surgery in the first place. Don't stress!
  13. It's a heart-crushing feeling when you're told that your knee is almost certainly going to prevent you from running... ever again. There goals one of the biggest exercise goals I was looking forward to. D:

I do swim/water walk and I have a recumbent bike that's been very helpful, it's just frustrating because I loved running when I was younger. REALLY loved it. I was looking forward to being able to do it again. It's okay, it's just a little sad.

Cervidae,if you like running, consider doing it in the water. lots of you tube video for you to learn more about it. I have been doing it for over three months and see a difference and most of all, enjoy it! I use a shuffle ipod under my water proof hat and listen to music to get me going. What a difference! I hope you like swimming and can give it a try.

  14. If the doctor can't give you a concrete medical reason that the sleeve would be better for you despite your desire for the RNY, I would be a little suspicious of his motives and skills. There are legitimate reasons some people should have the sleeve over the bypass but if he honestly can't give you any and is pushing something you don't want... I don't know if I would feel comfortable continuing at that office. This is your body and whichever procedure you get is going to change you and your life forever. It should be your decision if there are no medical reason's otherwise. That being said, there are a lot of people who start at a high bmi and have a lot of success with the sleeve, from what I've seen. I personally chose the RNY because my weight when I started the program was about 400 pounds and I wanted the most bang for my buck. Not to mention, a LOT of people who get the sleeve eventually have to revise to bypass anyway. One major surgery is enough for me.

    I need help...

Have you tried doing a pouch reset? Just go back to liquids for a couple days, puree for a couple days, then back to healthy solids? That might at least help you get back on track with dealing with those hunger issues. Hope things get easier for you!
  19. I had similar issues in the beginning, but now I'm nearing 5 months out and it is much, much easier to know exactly when to stop and exactly when it's time to take another bite. It gets easier, just take this time to heal and learn your body's new language and you'll get there
  20. Sleep as much as humanly possible! Everything previous suggested, staying hydrated, cook your food with cumin and curry (known to increase your immune response) and sleep, sleep, sleep and you'll be okay.
  21. glad you've had such great experiences. And that you're healing well. Sounds like a great place.

    3 weeks post op

hello there! At three weeks post op, your nerves in your stomach are still healing, and therefor aren't really giving your brain the information it needs to know if you're stretching or hurting it. I had a similar experience with water. It felt like I could drink pretty normally. Then by about 5 or 6 weeks it slowed wayyyy down because my stomach could actually communicate that it was getting too full too fast. Stick with the baby sips for now. Once things heals and you slowly get back to a normal intake of food and water, you will know when you're actually able to take larger and more frequent sips. I can drink almost normally now at 4.5 months. Take care!

    Periods

I have PCOS so my periods have always been screwy. Before surgery, it had been years since I had an actual, normal period. Within two months after surgery, I got it finally but it was so crampy and painful, and then the next month I got the worst one of my life, and now I haven't had one in a couple months. Who even knows what's going on with my body right now? XD My doctor thinks it will eventually even out. We shall see.
