Big guy needing new mattress......suggestions on what's working for you......

I swear by my sleep number bed. Even at my heaviest, 313 pounds, my setting of 85 was so comfortable I never really thought about it being too hard or too soft, it was just perfect. And even though I've lost a significant amount of weight I still keep it at 85. Good luck in your search for a bed. They have a lot of different kinds of beds at the sleep number store and I have the most basic kind. -

Emergency Stash of Protein

At Sam's Club I found a box of Jack Links premium cuts beef steak. For 1 ounce serving: 1 g of fat 2 g of carbohydrates 1 g of sugar and 12 g of protein. There are 12 individually wrapped 1 ounce servings in this box. And they're really good. It was about $12 I think. -

Need some Tips on slowing down my eating

I have a little app on my iPhone called Alarmed. You can set a timer for one minute and after a minute it will buzz and you can reset it for another minute, etc. You can use that to stretch out your bites. Of course if you chew really really really long you'll only have to wait another 30 seconds. I have the same trouble myself and it's really hard to slow down. Good luck. -
Do you still have your gallbladder? That's where my pain was when I had my gallbladder attack.

Anybody using the unflavored protein powder?
brenda1949 replied to tinatina119's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have the Genepro unflavored powder, that I mix with V-8 juice. Well it doesn't mix that well, I think it is truly unflavored. I just keep stirring and stirring and finally it dissolves. So I'm happy with it. I bought it from Amazon. -

I like the unflavored onion powder from Genepro, as an alternative to other flavored powders. You can mix it with anything hot or anything cold. I got mine from Amazon I'm sorry I hit the send button too soon it's unflavored powder not unflavored onion powder. Sorry -

I wonder if your NUT is talking about the kind of protein drinks like Ensure or Boost. We were told not to use those because they're really for a different purpose and they are higher in calories. -

Just a guess, is your blood sugar too low? I have diabetes also, and was told to stop one of my medicines which would cause me to have a blood sugar problem. I did, and my blood sugar was pretty normal during the whole two weeks. If your blood sugars are too low I would I would call my doctor if I were you. Good luck. -

I eat the chewy bites chocolate from bariatric advantage from about a week out of surgery. I chew it up really good and then swallow it and everything seems to be fine. I like the taste, and I'm getting the caramel also. -

I'm only two weeks out from gastric bypass surgery, but knock on wood I haven't had any complications at all. I follow the rules: I don't eat too fast, I don't eat too much and I feel fine. You'll be fine too.

A large number of people who had gallbladder removal develop a syndrome called bile salts diarrhea. I suffered from this for 31 years before I found out that there is a powder that really really helps. It is called cholestyramine. Mix the packet of powder with water or fruit juice and drink it twice a day My diarrhea has gone away. Please please do research on this and see if it will help you. I had RNY on August 3 and when I left the hospital I was told not to take the cholestyramine anymore. I haven't taken it since and I have not had my diarrhea so I don't know what to think about that. Good luck to you . -
Currently I'm using the bariatric advantage brand chewable calcium that was recommended by my team. Chocolate is good I think. Haven't tried the caramel, they come in other flavors too , there's peanut butter and some fruit flavor. But I saw on Amazon that Kirkland (Costco) also has chewable calcium and I might try that, it was much cheaper. Amazon has a lot of different brands.
