    Nausea

I had my surgery Tuesday and I have been miserable. I am nauseous and dry heaving a lot. Can barely drink at all and can't keep down my liquid pain meds so I'm hurting. Has anyone else experienced this?? How long did it last.

    Nausea

Same boat I've been in the hospital since my surgery Wed 26 I traveled to Dallas from ATl and there was know way I could have gotten on that plane to fly back without the care that I'm getting now. I dry eaves all night couldn't keep anything down. Couldn't sleep. Sugar went up...but I'm getting better I think they are discarding me today. Hang in there. Today was a much better day. I didn't need my nausea meds and I actually got out of bed and stayed out until bedtime. Drinking still is difficult, but it doesn't make me want to throw up anymore. My surgeon told me to get sugar free Popsicles if I couldn't get fluids in. They said they didn't care if I needed to eat a whole box to stay hydrated just do it. My hubby also got me pedialite pops. Not so tasty but think they def helped.

    Newly Sleeved

I would agree taking something must be a mistake. I was sleeved the day after you and have not had a "normal" BM. I was considering taking something but then yesterday began the, excuse the graphic-mess, Water poop. If I had taken something I would be afraid to leave the bathroom cause I don't think I could control it. Now that it happened I remember the same thing happening when I got my band. I agree with the previous advice. Get plenty of water and once I am allowed protein I was planning on adding Fiber supplement to my shakes. Feel better!!

    Newly Sleeved

I was banded Tuesday and there are no solids in my plan until week four. I'm having trouble with gummy vitamins and water so I'knit surprised meat eggs and potatoes hurt.

What to expect in the hospital

Just sleeved Tuesday and I would say number one would be your pillow and a phone charger. I honestly could care less about my toothbrush or anything else I was so sick. Don't expect to get a ton of sleep either. I was discharged after one day despite the fact that I could not get liquids down. Thinking now that might have been a bad idea and I should have insisted on staying. Luckily I've been able to get some fluids in today. Good luck to you.
  7. I am also a teacher and was sleeved on Tuesday of this week. I too went back and forth about when to return. We are supposed to start Monday, but I ultimately decided not to return until after Labor Day giving myself a full two weeks. As of right now I am glad I did because I have been so sick. Even if I feel half better by Monday there is no way I could go to work. I have heard people take anywhere from 3 days to 2 months. It all depends I guess. Good luck.

    Nausea

Ugh that Is what I'm afraid. The nurse didn't want to send me home yesterday because of that but everyone else said it was fine. Now it also feels like I'm swallowing rocks when I swallow. This is not what I was expecting. I can barely get out if bed. Even showering made me feel horrible and I usually feel a little better after I shower.

    Surgery Tuesday

So my surgery is Tuesday and I'm getting very nervous. Had the band out a little over a month ago. I think my main short term concern is that I am going to be miserably hungry during the liquid and mushy weeks like I was when I got the band. My long term concern is that I will be unsuccessful as I was with the band and have some of the same Problems, barfing, pain, and feeling crappy all the time.
  10. I had an endoscopy. I chose to do it with anesthesia.
  11. That's awful!! Good luck!! ????

    Pep talk needed

I am two weeks away from my sleeve surgery. I have been unfilled since June and had my band out July 14. I am not on a two week pre-op diet, just Clear liquids the day before AND today has been awful!! If I could find it in the house today I ATE it. I have been yo-yoing since June with my weight and finding it a struggle to not eat anything and everything waiting for my surgery day. I hope that I have made the right decision. I could not live with my band anymore and it just was not working for me. I only ever lost 50# over 5 years and the last two years have been a hell of puking and starving and then overeating on the days food actually went down. I have gained back 25# and my clothes barely fit anymore. I am so afraid of failure with the sleeve. I can and will eat right with the sleeve that is not my worry. My worry is I will Have similar problems with the sleeve. Is the sleeve the answer?? Any success stories/pep talks would be appreciated.

    Pep talk needed

@hockeyfan7-same thing. I used to say I got the band to change how I ate and make good choices. Except the good choices would never go down!! No chicken, minimal veggies (carrots were not my friend), and the junk would just slip right down. What the heck!! Thank you for the reply. I'm just getting very nervous. My husband is being very supportive (he has the band too), but I am getting a lot of flack from my family about it being not reversible and what's to say the same problems won't occur blah blah blah. I am pretty good at ignoring, but today I was feeling very nervous.

    Thanks Pinkgirl1234!!
  15. I think Rosie is probably right. I know I had to do 3 months of nutritional counseling for insurance approval (it's really three visits not months). I went to my first appt in June and am scheduled for sleeve in two weeks. I have been unfilled since the beginning of June with removal middle of July. I have gained and lost gained and lost. It's hard.
  16. I did not stay for the removal. I have to stay one night for the sleeve.
  17. My doctor does two parts too but I only had to wait a month. I would think bypass would be the same. They do it in two parts because of swelling and stretching from what I understand. If they try to do it in one sometimes they can't make your pouch as small as they would like.

    Dr Goldstein

I Am using dr. Nusbaum. He is in my opinion the best there is. He is in Morristown. If you are not loving dr. Goldstein give him a try.
  19. No but I have out of network coverage so only had to pay a portion. My surgeon is also out of network but takes whatever your insurance pays for the surgery and doesn't charge you the rest (at least that's my understanding). The nutritionist is through him, but I pay the difference for her and for office visits.
  20. Hi. I am with horizon in nj and am having the sleeve done this month. I had the band out last month because my surgeon really doesn't like to do it at the same time if there is any stretching. I had to do 3 visits with a nutritionist and a psych. evaluation. Plus get a letter from my primary. Pretty much the same I had to do for the band. It really wasn't too bad. You basically have to show the band failed you not vice versa. Good luck!
