  1. I am the "I have not noticed vote." I really have not - but I am not at goal yet either. I am down by 52 lbs. at this point and feel the same. But I never realized in my head that I weighted as much as I did. When I see pics of me I can't believe I weighed that much. Now I look "normal" to me in pictures and such but I have almost always hovered around a size 12 or 14. We will see what the world looks like at a 8 or 10.

    compliments

Pam is right - until I started wearing clothes that fit the new 50 lbs. lighter me everyone thought i had done something to my hair. It was almost comical. Even with newer clothes I still get funny looks. Some folks are just not sure - or maybe don't want to say. Now, I also have a step-mom and step-sister who will never say anything. I mean - I am 5'2 and have lost 50 lbs. and no comments what so ever. And they are the only people I did not tell about the band. It is what it is. I am sure they have noticed and just don't have it in them to say anything. Whatever.

    pain at port site

I was banded in April '08. After maybe 2 months I suddenly had port pain. I asked my doc about it and he said 2 things - 1) STOP TOUCHING IT. and 2) Don't touch it. To help ease the pain in the moment they had me use a heating pad on low heat in the evenings. Worked like a charm. I was touching it often enough my co-workers were all wondering what was going on. I think it was like a new toy or something. And as soon I stopped touching the port site all the time the pain went away.

    Relationship Question

DH is very supportive of of my weight loss (as long as the boobs stay intact.) He has actually changed some of his eating habits and has lost 30 lbs or so along side my 50. He recently started thinking about joining me with my running - but we will see. As for shared nocturnal activities - things are WAY better. It is amazing how much extra weight affected my sex drive - and how much losing weight has affected it. Bless his heart he loves me no matter what I weigh!! On another front, DH is the cook in our house and he has found ways to make his cooking more lap-band friendly. I realize I am super blessed.
  5. I have found that eating alone does nothing for me. I average about 1200 calories per day and yet if I do not exercise I will lose nothing. If I get at least 3 days of good cardio in, I will lose a pound a week. I personally prefer running and the ellipital on non-running days. For me the perfect recipe has been to get in 4 rounds of cardio/week and 2 days of weight training. The weight training has off set some of the actually weight loss, but I feel great and don't look like I weigh 181 (as of today.) At 181 I am starting to wear 14P. All of that said - while nothing works for everyone, exercise is one heck of a magic bullet for most. If you are already exercising some, step it up. If you don't, get moving. No movement on the scale is sooo frustrating. Hope all of you are able to make some progress from what you hear from others. Good luck you guys!!

    vomiting

I have had slimes and some PBs but not had the major stuck problem until just lately (I am 7 months post-band.) Right now, I feel like I have not really eaten in about 2 days. Recently with a change in the weather I am suffering from seasonal allergies. I will have to check in with doc about the nasal drip issues. So glad I checked in. Thanks for all the posts.

    Shamrocks Weight Loss to Date!!!

Hey Marchers! Been a while since I posted, but I am pleased with life after banding. Down 41 lbs. and three sizes. I am now running 3 miles 3 times a week plus strength training. Glad to see others are having great results as well.
  12. 5 months post-op and completely remember the rash. Definitely an allergic reaction to the adhesive. Very common.

    Delayed Restriction?

Man, do I feel better. I have not posted in a while but after my second fill all was pretty normal. Now for almost 2 weeks (still post 2nd fill,) I have had to be really careful or I get stuck really easily. I have waited so long because I have also been on a high power antihistamine for a skin allergy. I was thinking the drugs were affecting me, but it might just be a combination of the 2 - I need to call my doc and ask. I have no idea what size band I have or how much I have in there. I was banded on 3/4/08 and have had 2 fills.

    Can't believe this happened

WOW - what a few weeks you have had. I am really glad you didn't hurt your insides as well with such a rough fall. I wish you a speedy and full recovery.

    Hi All

Good for you - being informed is a great tool. There is so much info here it is worth spending some time poking around. I looked through the pre and post threads as well as the complications board. I would just warn that with the complications threads - no one posts there unless they had issues and everyone reacts differently in certain instances. For example - my sister can't eat bananas even three years post surgery. I am 8 weeks post and eat one every morning before I workout. But neither of us can eat white bread. Go figure. I wish you well in your research. Feel free to ask me anything.

    April Exercise Challenge

Hey all - finished week 1 of C25K yesterday. felt sooo good. Then walked around and climbed all over some great boats at the Texas Boat show in Corpus Christi. Sunburned and tired, I slept for 10 hours last night. Hope every one else is having a great weekend.

    April Exercise Challenge

Hey all. Yoga yesterday and my first run (ok - it was a walk/run) since surgery. Felt good.

Listen to your BODY & your Doctor.

I was searching for a post like this. I had my first fill last Thursday feel many of the things you are feeling. If I even think about a solid Protein of any kind I slime for like an hour. Gross! I have not had the upset stomach. I am going to get well back into mushies for the next few days then try the the solids again. If they are still not working, I will go in for an unfill. I don't mind waiting because I can still get some pretty decent Proteins without reverting back to Protein shakes. I am glad your unfill did the trick. If I start to feel the upset stomach or the solids don't get better by about the weekend, I will go back to the doc. Thanks for posting your experience.

    April Exercise Challenge

Got in 45 minutes of cardio this morning. Fast walking until tomorrow when I re-start the C25K thing. Also re-started with the PT today. Man, did that feel good. It has been so long since I lifted. We did chest and legs. So many medical issue - it is great to hear that they are clearing up in due time. Healing is such a funny thing. Have a gerat week y'all.
  20. You will get a lot of this answer - ask your doc. I can tell you mine only side-lined me the day of surgery and if I took pain meds. I had surgery on a Tuesday and drove to the spa or a pedicure on Thursday.
  21. chily - I have been banded a little longer than you (3/4) and I feel that evil between the boob pain when I eat to fast or didn't chew everything really well.

    Does this happen to you?

I so know what you mean. I have always pre-determined what I want to be my last bite - whatever it was on my plate that I liked best, so I save a bite of it for the last bite. Yeah, DH thinks I am nuts. Since the band, I have to adjust when that bite comes. Several times I have waited too long and reached full before I got my last bite in. And yeah - Jack is right, it's a great problem to have.

    new girl on the block

Like everyone else who has responded to your question, I am really happy with my decision to have the LP. I started this process at 232 and I am 5'2. Like you, I hated saying that number. Just over 6 weeks post op, I am down almost 25 pounds and people are starting to notice. I feel so much better already. I will also tell you that something in my brain just switched. I don't know if it was the time investment or the $, but I am completely on board with this new way of life. I think that helps with being happy with the decision. One of the things I did during my 6 month insurance required supervised diet was to read through the many of the different sections. Exercise fitness, complications, pre and post surgery - just to see what other people were going through. Again, for me I think it helped me be more prepared for what was to come. And congrats on really considering this. I think the more thought you put into it, the better off you will be. It is as much about our heads as it it is our stomachs. Feel free to email if you have other questions.

    April Exercise Challenge

Hello all. Crazy week. Worked out 3 times this week. Had my first fill. Yeah - don't try steak same day as a fill. I had no idea but I know now. I also had my tattoo touched up. I realize that sounds crazy, but it has an effect on my workout schedule - I can't wear anything but flip-flops for 3 more days. My tat is on my right inner heel. Sounds weird but it looks great - again. I have a Christian fish. The great news is that I am free to resume all activities I want to and have my personal trainer lined up for this coming Monday so I can start lifting again. I am looking at 2-30 minute sessions per week for the next 5 weeks plus my cardio days. I am also finally getting to restart the C25K program next week. Stef - wow! But sounds like you have a great plan. Thinking about you and pulling for you!! Keep up the good work - everyone is working so hard. Yeah us!!
