  1. Congrats!
madisunshine1 got a reaction from WhitneyLC84 in Wow. Tomorrow!
Tomorrow is my surgery day. I'm feeling a lot. I'm so excited. I'm so ready to change my life. But I'm also terrified of complications, infection, death... and the usual stuff.
My husband is taking me. And we have a two year old son who is our heartbeat. He's a major reason I'm doing this. I want to be so healthy for him. so I can play harder and lead by example.
I have battled obesity since 2nd grade. In the midst of really healthy parents and siblings. I've been obese. I have PCOS, uncontrolled type two diabetes, and high blood pressure is creeping in... Oh I'm 24. I know this Vsg is my tool. It's all I have left. I've done and tried everything. Of course I have emotional connection to food, but, I do feel like my body has never told me "no" before and it finally will. I never feel full and keep eating so I know this tool is right for me.
I'm having surgery at Emory John's Creek in Alpharetta Ga with Dr. Khan. Please send good vibes or pray for the surgery and my healing and the surgeons hands.

I can do this I can do this I can do this. I backed out once.
Today is all liquids. It's the only pre op diet I have. I just don't want any complications.
Thanks for reading. Here we go. I don't think I'll stop thinking about it today.

I was in a stall for almost 4 weeks. Mind you I had my VSG on 8/2/16 so not even three months ago. I was -30 pounds for everrrrrrrr.
I finally broke free and I'm -40 pounds as of today. It happens. Dont stress or obsess. I did both. And self sabotaged at times. But I worked through the emotions and got a stomach bug (ha, lost two pounds bc of that).
Some days I don't feel like I look different. That may take a while. But I feel different. And I genuinely feel like if I never lost a pound ever again (god I hope not) but I wouldn't regret this surgery.
Because of this surgery I have lost 40 pounds. Wow.

Almost the same story here, lol, stalled at 30 lbs, down 40 now, surgery on 8/11. I started lifting weights at 6 weeks out and boy, has that made a huge difference. Like you, I feel so much better, I wouldn't care if I didn't lose much more. Still hoping for another 20 lbs, but so far, this has been the best thing I have ever done for myself.

We eat very similar things! I enjoy almonds and love the blue diamond almonds and get different flavors. I avoid the sugar ones. But love the habanero BBQ & salt and vinegar almonds. Love Colby jack cheese sticks. Beef jerky is good. But I have very specific ones that are low carb low sugar. I love making mini turkey burgers. I also LOVE roasted chicken wings. Especially from taco Mac. I love one specific be kind bar- it's the one with 5G of sugar and 8 net carbs. It's the cinnamon pecan flavor. I do enjoy Atkins trail Protein Bars. I also love salmon for a meal. And occasionally a slim Jim. Haha. Water is really heavy on my tummy. I drink unsweet tea a lot. Water usually has to be infused.

I'm on my 4 th week. In 4 weeks I've lost 3 pounds. I'm 10 weeks post op. I understand your frustration. It's really discouraging. My input is: do what you're supposed to be doing and measure inches versus pounds.

I agree that you DID get some great advice so I won't repeat it. I will say that you need to make sure you have some "defense mechanisms" to use when it get hard.

If you are out, Listerine strips are awesome. They taste horrible and they will make anything you eat taste horrible for an hour or so.

If you are home, gargle with real Listerine. See above but WAY worse.

Paint your nails because you can't eat crap with wet fingers.

Learn to knit or crochet or something that involves your hands and make it a goal to have gifts ready for Christmas or Hanukkah or whatever you choose to Celebrate.

Put on some loud music and clean a room or three in your house. It's distracting and rewarding.

Have healthy FILLING foods in the house that are already prepared for the times when you are hangry. Shrimp salad, cheese cubes, rotisserie chicken, imitation crab legs, hard boiled eggs... Sometimes when my sugar drops, I make bad decisions. I take that ability down a few notches by not having an excuse but to have something healthy available.

I have no doubt you can do it.

Get your game on! This is the opportunity of our lifetime to get healthy. It is simply a choice to eat right or eat crap. Three years post sleeve, no rice, bread, sugar, pasta, or junk in our home. I always eat before I leave home, always, or I might be tempted by something. I wish you the best!

@@madisunshine1 Don't waste the opportunity to get healthy! Try writing a list of all the things you want to do once you've lost weight (ski, kayak, travel, wear sexy dress and heels, improved sex life, run a 5k, ride a rollercoaster, etc) and every time you have a temptation to eat junk - look at all the reasons you need to say NO! Stay strong - you can do this!!!

You've got this! It's never too late to change! I've had days where I've made horrible food choices and punished myself for it. You just have to get back to eating right and following your plan! It's okay to treat yourself every now and then, just don't do it too often. Remember all of the reasons you started this journey! You can do this, I promise!

i tolerated everything too. at first it was awesome because i almost prided myself on being the patient that was the 'prize patient' and had no issues at all.
because i COULD tolerate it all, i DID. i ate all foods. i didn't eat too early, i followed the post op plan i was given but it was only a guide through 3 months post and then i had no further follow up.
so here i am 2 years post op, still eating most things and 20 lbs up from my lowest. i would give just about anything to go back and redo it at the 3-4 month mark and keep pushing as hard as i could.
now i'm seeing a new surgeon this week and hopefully he will help me get back on track...

Write down three things you did right today and focus on your positives. Focusing on the negative will only make them larger. You got this. Positive self talk!!! The sugar and bread isn't worth it!

i agree with the above advice. do NOT slip backwards. use the tools you have.
if necessary, make an appointment with your doc or nut to keep some accountability. for ME, that was a large component of my regain. i had no follow up after 3 months, just a 1x/year appointment. Now that i have new insurance and had to transfer to a different doctor, i'm happy to find out that he sees his patients every three months forever, AND you see the nut every time too.
stay the path your are on. good luck!
