Today was my husbands 30th birthday. I made New York strip steaks, potatoes, and fresh green Beans followed by german chocolate cake. And I didn't have one bite. Obviously. I'm 11 days post op. It was hard. Really hard. I've realized how much celebrations are surrounded by food. Then I took him to a movie. It was the first I think I've ever been to a movie and didn't get popcorn. That was hard too. I know I'll eat steak and pop corn again. But it's seriously like mourning a loss of a friend. Food was a friend. Anyway, hope you can all relate. I know this is worth it. There are just really hard times. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

How do you feel after? Are you hungry? Does food mess w/ your head?
madisunshine1 replied to marrse's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Head hunger is no joke. It's really played with me. It's a minute to minute struggle for me. I have always had issues with food. But post op, I definitely realized HOW many issues I have with food. It's like I've lost a friend. I know this will be worth it but I ain't gonna lie to you, it's difficult. I'm 12 days post op and I'm ready to fast forward some but I know I'm dealing. Right now. In the moment. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Walk. Walk. Walk. And when you're done walking, walk some more. It's the only way to get gas moving. Move your legs in bicycle motions if you can. Take your time, just walk. If your team allows gas ex strips, get some. They help. Sip sip sip. If Water is harsh, try crystal light, Powerade zero, etc. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Feel better! Today. Was. Rough.
madisunshine1 replied to madisunshine1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At first, he didn't want me to. He was so nervous id get sad and depressed which sure, I did but it came and went. He actually has been staying away from sugars/ breads/fast food etc since my surgery day which has been a God send for my recovery and new lifestyle. He's determined to lose some pounds and have this lifestyle together. This was his big 30 so I did want to do something special. He has been very expressive and very grateful. It's nice when people see how hard this is for us especially in the beginning. He didn't get popcorn either! I was going to really struggle if he did. Haha!!! Over all, I woke up today and yeah, I didn't get steak but I'm doin okay! Lol. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

also to add. Today was kinda cool though, i realized I can Celebrate and go to the movies and I don't "have" to eat the food there. Currently drinking my Protein drink. Ha. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Okay. 10 days post op. I am allowed eggs, cheese, refried Beans, mashed potatoes etc. I haven't felt restriction. Yes, I've burped and stopped eating after that in fear of "too much". I have been able to eat 1-2 eggs at a time, a whole sugar free pudding cup at another time, etc. no tightness. No restriction. I'm stopping ahead of myself. I can gulp liquids with zero issues. Is this normal? I figured I would feel "so full". Hmm. And nothing is irritating me. I have been eating fine. Everything goes down fine. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Curious questions...
madisunshine1 replied to MickiinFL's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm a newbie but I do think about food. I do want more food and to eat things I shouldn't, partially due to restriction of certain foods I.E. meat, Etc. I am having to retrain my bran and emotions through this time. I do "miss" food and crave food. But bc of the limitations of my new tummy, i know I cannot over eat and/or eat "bad food". But my cravings are still there. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

I had my one week post op already. I was just drinking broth and clear fluids at that point. Then he gave me the go ahead for mushy/ puréed foods. I lost about 10lbs pre op and 22 since 8/2. So I guess 32lbs total. I'm just confused. I haven't had any signals other than burping. Hmm. Maybe it is what it is. I expected far more. When I ate mashed potatoes, I had more of a "stop while you're ahead" feeling but nothing crazy. My next appt is 09/12. My food schedule is 1st week: Clear Liquids 2nd week: mushy foods 4th week: I can introduce moist meat and steamed fruits and veggies 5th week: steak, sashimi, brown rice if desired etc. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

You should be eating the amount recommended by surgeon or nutritionist. You don't want to feel full. Many of those foods are sliders. Be careful.I just thought my body would signal more. I don't know. Same goes with Protein shakes. No feeling of fullness. I have stuck mainly to eggs and cheese and protein shakes. Bc I know those hold more nutritional value and more protein than pudding or potatoes. He didn't give me a specific ounce per meal nor a calorie goal. He did give me protein goals and Fluid goals, obviously. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Your body won't send full signals until its too late. Protein shakes, yogurt, pudding are all foods that go quickly through your sleeve so you can usually eat more. My plan says 1-2 Oz's every 3 hours (eat over 20 mins or less). I don't know if that's the same as yours. That's only for food - not liquids. I would just be concerned of overeating and getting sick. You can really hurt yourself this early out. Congrats on your weight loss! Sent from my KFFOWI using the BariatricPal App[/quote I'm really trying to be cautious of stopping ahead because of my body not sending any signals. I have eaten quickly which I've had to pay close attention to. And drinking too closely after I eat, ugh! It's a process. Thank you ma'am!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

One week post up today. I've lost 23.5 pounds which is great. I'm grateful and know this is so good for my health. But I definitely have buyers remorse. I feel depressed and overwhelmed by all of this. I feel like I'm pathetic that I cannot stay away from foods this long. I got approved for soft cheeses and egg whites but not doing too well with them. They just go straight through me. I am really not wanting to come off as complaining and ungrateful but these feelings are very real and raw. One week out and it feels like it's been 163682 weeks. Any thoughts? Help? I know it's gets better but hard to see the light. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Going crazy. I just want to eat. I know I know. It's in my head. It's not that I'm craving junk or anything. Literally. Just want to eat. Especially meat. This is very hard. It's such a mental game. Those who are a month or so out... How are you doing now that you can have solids?? I just can't stop thinking about eating. It's sad. But very real. Surgery day weight 264.5 Current weight 250.5 Yes exciting and very awesome. But lordddddd. I would love some chicken. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
