I had my RNY 3 weeks ago and I have been on the soft food diet. I was eating chicken is a tomato sauce. I was distracted and swallowed with out thinking and I have a bit of chicken stuck in my pouch. Any advice please or do i need to go and see the doc!

I had my Lap-band converted to a RNY on the 23rd July this year. Living with the band was an absolute nightmare towards the end. The surgeon who performed the RNY said the band was too tight and possibly too high. I cannot blame the band completely I need to shoulder a lot of the blame for the failure as a whole. One interesting note is my surgeon says this conversion is quite common... It is nearly 3 weeks since I have had the surgery and all seems be going well. I think having the band initially has helped me with the mental preporatin. Good Luck

It will be 3 weeks since my operation on Thursday this week. Best food day I have had so far is 800 calories. I have been corresponding with my dietitian and it is the first time in my life I have ever been told to up my calories! I spoke to the consultant/surgeon last week about my appetite and he said it is not uncommon to lose your appetite. He said it is different for everyone. Sometimes it comes back in the first year and sometimes it does not. If I can give you any advice it would be listen to the surgery team and as well as all your dietary preparation make sure you prepare yourself mentally. My mood/humour has been up and down a bit. I had a gastric band from 2008 until the 23rd July 2015 when I had it converted to Roux en Y gastric bypass. With the band I was always hungry, what is noticeable about the bypass is the complete lack of hunger. I am having to force myself to keep to a schedule to make sure I get enough Protein on board. I know it was only 2 weeks ago but No Hunger at all… astounding
