I found BariatricPal after reading kindle book. I have had trouble with my weight all my life. During my school and university years it was easier to maintain a healthier weight as I was very active playing rugby, cricket and swimming. In 1994 I had a bad knee which stopped me playing all impact sport. I was out of action for a year and in that time my weight ballooned and gradually increased until I reached a massive 530lbs (240kg). In 2007 I had my first weight loss surgery, a lap-band. In the beginning it worked superbly but over time I gained a lot of weight back due to my own stupidity and a lack of support.
At the beginning of 2015 my weight was back up to 440lbs (195kg). I was experiencing significant issues with the band as it had been left way too tight for too long. I had very bad acid reflux and pain from the band. The reflux got so bad that at one point I had to sleep sitting up. I spoke to a number of consultants and in July 2015 I underwent a procedure to convert the Lap-band to a Roux en Y gastric bypass. At time of writing this profile I am 2 weeks post operation and all is going well!!!
