@Babbs Wow ... our bodies are incredible machines. I myself, am sad that I didn't realize this years ago and treated it better. I'm working on it body-o-mine!

Bariatric Pal protein bars - YUM!

@@mrs kaje Thank you! Yes all Bariatric Pal has their own bars and other items .... Just click the little purple box at the top of the page that says "STORE" ...
  4. If anyone has hesitated on trying the BP Protein bars ... DONT WAIT any longer ! I just recently bought the variety 7 pack ... and they are better than Quest to me .. Quest was hard and flavorless ... BP bars are soft and chewy and they have great flavor ... a taste you don't mind tasting again ! I was so happy with my purchase ... I just thought I'd share ... in case anyone was wondering and thinking about buying them ... WORTH IT !!
  5. @@Angry banana Good morning ! YES ! There has been significant relief of my arthritis pain since the weight loss ... ( though I'm not done! ) I still get stiff and I still have SOME pain ... but the greatest amount of it is gone ... THANK GOD ! I am due to have knee replacements in the future .... but I can put it off for a while because of the WLS ... Which was my main goal ... Doc said he wasn't too keen on doing it while I was so heavy ... AND he couldn't bend my knee all the way to do the surgery anyway ( because of the fat/lymphedema ) .... but now ... I'm sure if he pushed it .. it would bend ... nothing I can bend like that on my own anyway ... OUCH! Have a wonderful day!
  6. @rking I take pills regularly for arthritis pain ... first 6 weeks I had to crush them ... I would mix with a tiny bit of Water and drink it fast ... tasted like crap ... but then after the 6 week mark .. doc cleared me to take them whole ... which freaked me out ... so now I break in half and take half at a time ... seems not to upset any of the delicate workings in there! I just had to make sure before surgery that the pain doc could give me something crushable ... which was no trouble at all ... Good luck to you!!

    Cramps ... ugh.

Girls, So it seems since I've lost quite a bit of weight ... that now I cramp like mad ... I very rarely cramped before the weight loss ... and if I did ... could take the magic Midol ... But now .... no more Midol ... So what is your magic cure for the cramp that wants to make me double over in pain ? Have to suffer in silence here at work ... At home I can whine and lay down ... But ... no here I thank you ladies !

How long did it take you to notice?

I noticed my face thinning out while I was home the first 2 weeks after surgery ... Other posters are correct ... if you keep looking for something .... you probably won't see it ... Before and what I call "so far" pics are the best
  11. @Glogyal the first couple of weeks after surgery ... I wanted to call my State Senator and ask him WHY ON EARTH IS THERE SO MANY food COMMERICALS ON TV !??! I never noticed that before WLS ! Sometimes ... I had to mute the TV and look away ... it was horrible ! But ... alas ... the first 2 weeks are long since gone ... and so is my need to lick the TV ! this too shall pass !

    Always Cold

@@retrieverguy I completely understand living in the north and growing up in the cold brutal winters ... I am originally from update NY ... and snowmobiling / hunting / ice fishing was the "NORM" in the winter time ... not to mention sledding and shoveling! But now ... as I live in GEORGIA ... and had my sleeve in July .. I am constantly cold .. hubby thinks I lost some marbles along with the weight ! But .. I'm always wrapped up now ... it's almost 70 outside today ... and I have my heater on, a long sleeved tee shirt and a zip up sweatshirt ! BUT .... I will pile on more clothes ... just for the happiness that shedding the pounds / insulation has brought me Totally worth it!

    Eat more calories!

@VSGAnn2014 thank you for being so kind with your reply ... I appreciate it very very much

    Eat more calories!

@@VSGAnn2014 Im afraid of trying new foods ... I am apprehensive of putting something in my new tummy that will upset it ... I'm still afraid of something getting suck in a staple ... silly I know ... doc says I'm far enough out I don't need to worry about that ... but it was drilled into me during pre op and the few weeks after .... that it's still in the back of my mind ... I was never a real vegetable person before WLS ... so it's hard to try those now and pretend to like them ... I've been sticking with what goes down and stays well ... Protein shakes/cheese/chicken/peas/the occasional beef hot dog/chili/SF fudgesicle/water/powerade zero that's pretty much it ... I know I'm the only one limiting myself ... it's a mind thing ...

    Eat more calories!

I'm with you guys ... seems like being told to eat more is contradictory ... based on what we went through to eat less! I'm 4 months out and I still drink 2 shakes a day ... and eat very little ... most of that is because I'm scared to ... Seems like such a mind trick to eat more to lose more ... Something I still have to wrap my head around ... Crazy how things like that actually make sense ... but it's still hard to understand !

    Everyday is a battle

    @@LipstickLady AMEN !!!!

    Everyday is a battle

That is a battle that will always rage inside of you ... No matter how far out you get or how much you loose ... BUT ... it's a battle worth fighting and a battle worth winning ... Don't give in ! Stay strong ... stay positive ... stay busy ... This too shall pass.

    Always Cold

I'm the same way girls ! BUT ... I found these amazing sheets for the bed on QVC .... they are called Polar Fleece ... WOW ... I NEVER want to get out of bed ... they are so warm and so soft ... worth every single penny! I'm always cold to now ... before WLS I sweat like a butcher ... but now ... brrrrrr...so having these sheets makes me look forward to going to bed !

    Ah... Goodwill/thrift shops

I have always loved thrift store shopping ... but before WLS never had luck with clothes ... BUT NOW ... Look out !! I went to a few consignment shops over the weekend and I tried on clothes ... and found myself staring into the mirror asking ... "WHO ARE YOU!?" ... I just couldn't believe the size I was in ( from a 4xl/5xl to a XL ) and couldn't believe the person staring back at me ... What a feeling !
  20. I am such a rule follower that I wouldn't dare NOT do what the NUT and DOC say ... Too scared of the consequences .... As it is ... when it's past time for my Protein shake ... I get sluggish ... and I like them anyway ... so it's not difficult for me to drink them ... and KNOW that it's for all the right reasons I've said before in some of my replies ... it's a whole new learning curve ... We are learning new ways of living .... LIVING ! That is why we all had the surgery ... to LIVE ! So let's grow up ... and DO IT !
  21. @angelstwo I too find it odd that I'm not thirsty ... I have to remind myself to drink ... otherwise ... like you ... I get distracted and busy and before I know it ... it's been hours since I had my last drink ... it is extremely odd ... being that "before" I would drink lots and lots of stuff and not think twice about it ... now I don't drink hardly anything and don't think twice about it ... which I know is wrong wrong wrong ... I have two bottles with me all day long ... and I try to drink them all ... some days I do ... most I don't ... it's such a learning curve ... we'll get through it Best of luck to you! and stay off the IV!!!!

  23. Hey group ! Question ... The past couple of mornings I've been waking up dizzy ... When I'm opening my eyes for the first time ... I have to hang on! Feels like the bed spins ... and obviously I'm not drunk ... Then I get them on and off in the shower / brushing teeth, etc ... But by the time I am leaving for work ... they are gone ... Anyone else experience this ?
