    Started the liquid diet

I tried so many different Protein shakes. It was a little pricey but I found some that I could tolerate much better than other ones. Its such a personal taste thing though. I like the Bariatric Advantage Orange Cream and banana. They were both good. I also like the Pure Protein Banana Creme ready to drink, in a can. Vitamin Shoppe makes a real good chocolate Mint. I am a vanilla guy, not a huge fan of chocolate but these things were amazeballs. whey Tech Pro 25 Chocolate Mint. Also, If you have not done this yet, its so worth it. nectar has a deal where you can get single serve sample packs of their flavors pretty cheap. You can only do it once, but gives you an opportunity to try their flavors. http://www.si03.com/EMAIL/nectar_gng_sampler/nectarsampler.html I also used the protein powders in the plain oikos non fat yogurt. That helps get more protein in. I also liked the Isopure prtein drinks. Its not as thick, more like gatorade but its an acquired taste. Hope these ideas can help.

I have been to gym everyday and still in stall!

I tried to out work the stall too. I have come to the conclusion that we do not have the power to un-stall the stall. It will decide when its time to lose again. Your body I mean. Time. Patience.
  4. Good call! I just went on there and in under 5 minutes spent 28.00 for 2 pairs of jeans! Bangarang!
  5. Finally starting to lose some weight again. I missed seeing the numbers get lower. Still hoping to get to 100lbs gone by the end of the year.

Lots of lbs flying off, is this much normal?

Everyone loses differently. That said, I lost 85lbs in the first 90 days. I just recently experienced a full 3 week stall, not a pound was lost, even after working out harder, drinking more fluids and carefully watching my intake. My body just had to readjust. I just noticed 2 pounds gone this morning. You will lose it fast, but do not worry or fret when it stalls. It will stall, you will want to do more to get it going again, but you have to let it run its course. I stopped worrying about it and it did start falling off again. Your loss is fast, but it may be that way for you. Best of luck!

Guy's Room - Just some dude talking sh_t!

Man, this thread is right "up my ally". I have been having a rough "go" of it for some time post-op. I have been trying to get more fiber, I feel like I am drinking enough liquids, but most of the time its a struggle. Pre-Op I would go once a day, maybe skip a day here or there. Since the Sleeve, I have been going about once every 4 days. And it's a struggle to push that sh!t out sometimes. I seriously think I'm going to explode a pipe in the wall if it hits a bend at the wrong angle. I have started drinking diet ocean spray to get some cranberry juice in to help. Seems to be making it a little easier. I may have to check out this device.

    Protein Powder

I ordered this sample pack: http://www.si03.com/EMAIL/nectar_gng_sampler/nectarsampler.html I liked quite a few of their flavors. This is the best deal if you want to try a bunch without investing in a lot of any one kind first. I also had the Bariatric Advantage Orange Cream and banana. They were both good. I actually have some Isopure Fruit Punch you can have, if you would like to try. I liked it but the massive jug they sell at Vitamin Shoppe was too big. Did you ever get your date scheduled? Hope you got that day you hoped for. I read good.

Aimed at the men but ladies welcome to join in...

Done! I took the oath, for my Wife, my Daughter, and the millions of Women and Children subjected to horrible violence at the hands of cowards, Worldwide. (btw,to take the oath, you need a valid post code. A US Zip Code is not valid. I just googled and came up with 5806.)
  13. A lot to be thankful for this year. Thankful for all of you, the ones who support and offer info and advice, and the ones who inspire. I know we spend a lot of time asking questions and looking for answers here, but I just wanted to say Thank You.

    Newbie-- question(s)

Thats not all wrong actually. You will have loose skin. And you'll be proud of it. It can get cleaned up later, either naturally by working out or surgery. You are not going to be bald. But you may lose some hair for a little bit. It grows back eventually. You probably won't be worse off. The chances of that happening are slim. But, YOU GONNA BE SLIMMER than those chances anyway

    Newbie-- question(s)

Sorry to hear that you are not getting great reactions to this. I had a couple friends who poo poo'd the idea, but not in a way that made me question my dedication to it. I can understand why some might not feel elated that a friend or family member is going to have this surgery. But, that said, I also cannot see a reason for someone who has decided to do this, to back out because of somebody else's opinion of it. There are so many points and counter points. Some say that it is too dangerous and a major surgery. But those people may not realize that without the surgery or weightloss, a knee replacement, hip replacement or long term diabetes can be just as serious. I am not saying that you shouldn't pay attention to them, but I hope you also realize that some of them may know very little about any of the possible procedures or what type of dedication it takes to be successful. The surgery does not make you eat right. It does not tell you to go exercise. You still have to do the work. My Sister-in-law said that I need to try harder. She herself is morbidly obese. I told her that I get no bonus points for how I lose the weight, I just have to lose it. Since my surgery, she keeps telling me how great I look and that she is glad I am taking it seriously. Best of luck, hang in there, stay the course.

Anyone have an over 50 BMI?

I think it depends on the Insurance you have. I am on my wife's insurance. She works for St. John Providence. They did not require a 6 month protocol but if you were under a certain BMI, then you needed to have some co-morbidities, Like High Blood Pressure, Diabetes, High Cholesterol, etc. I was a 56 BMI I believe, plus I was Diabetic and had High Blood Pressure. I only had to have my psych eval and a stress test. Even with just that, It still took me almost 5 months from first appointment to surgery.
  17. I lean more toward this answer. While I am open to talking about it with anyone, I would have to make sure they understand that I am not recommending it, but that I am simply sharing my experience to act as information for THEM to make the decision, free from any expectations from me. If they are a friend or family, I of course want them to be successful, whichever path they take, but I do not want to endorse any procedure as "The one to do". All I have to offer is what happened to me and the challenges, and rewards, that I went through.

NSV goal for an article of clothing?

I am actually happy that I am cold all the time. I always liked to layer and wear sweaters with shirts underneath. But I would always sweat and that made me self conscious. Now I can layer two long sleeved shirts and still wear a jacket or sweater at work. While I have gotten some newer shirts and workout clothes, I have purposely stayed away from jeans. They are a huge expense. I now wear a size 44-46 waist. I am still rocking my 52" waist jeans. I am short so all of my pants have to get hemmed. With 5 pairs of jeans at $50+ and an additional $10 per pair for hemming, I am ok cinching my pants with my way too ling belt that I have to keep adding holes too. Glad to see I am not alone. Its nice to have small things like certain outfits to look forward to along the journey.

    Newbie-- question(s)

I will start by saying congratulations! I am always so thrilled when I see guys and gals in their 20's looking into this already. To have the opportunity to make this change so young, is probably one of the most exciting situations to be in. with the exception of a few, the majority of people on this forum would say the number 1 regret was not doing it sooner. Obviously everyone's journey is different and you have to be at a certain point in your life to start looking at this as an available option. I agree with the posters above, make a list of questions, ask them in person and on forums like this. Read as much about as many different aspects of this. BUT, remember, sort through all of the info and figure out what you need to take away from it and discard the rest. There is so much info out there, many different conflicting reports and stories. Do your best to not fall into the trap of believing everything. The other great thing about being so young when you go through this, your body should recover quicker and most likely will have less chances of adverse side effects or complications. Best of luck. Get the answers you seek and keep asking, searching, reading and talking. You'll be so happy you did.

    Working Out after the Surgery

Similar here. between 100-120g protein daily. Cardio daily, weights 3 days per week. Also not really building muscle, but I am trying to keep as much of my muscle as possible while burning fat. I have read that it is pretty hard to build muscle while in the initial losing phase, basically the first 8-12 months. Since you are losing weight and already have to work hard to get enough protein and fluids and calories, the best you can hope for is to not lose too much muscle. I believe once you hit maintenance, you can probably start to build muscle again. I think once you are cleared to lift more than 10lbs, you will probably be safe to lift weights, but you may want to start off easy. The surgeon can give you a better idea, but my surgeon was also quite vague about it. All he would say is I am clear to workout however I saw fit.
  21. it may or may not be for you. I understand the hesitation. For me it is not so much about a sweet craving but more for taste. For instance, I wanted oatmeal at phase 3 but could not stand the taste of plain oatmeal. I found a cinnamon brown sugar sugar-free to rani syrup that made that oatmeal edible. I drink Powerade 0 cal, zero carb Isopure drinks, sobe life Water 0cal and other things like that. But again, that feeds a necessity in me to drink something other than water, or I won't get my Fluid in. I guess I figure as long as I don't stay on that stuff forever, then it serves a purpose for now. Best of luck, whatever you decide.

    Working Out after the Surgery

Once you get the all clear from the dr, you should be good to go. I got my all clear around 4 weeks. This weekend I had some Snacks, so I hit the gym like:
  23. Where it says servings in the entry before you add it, select the number 1 and change it to a decimal. .5 for half, .75 for 3/4 of something.

    Heart Rate Monitors

I spent some time looking into these not long ago. I liked the idea of something on my wrist that did the heart rate, but because of other factors, ended up with one that requires a secondary chest strap due to the other features this one had. I got the Garmin Vivoactive. I LOVE IT. Wear it daily. It tracks my steps, reminds me to get up and move, stays charged for 3-4 days without issue, although I charge it every couple days. You can wear it swimming and count laps/times. It tells me when I have emails, texts and phone calls. Its light and not very thick. Its also much cheaper than an apple watch. The only downside that I can find is that the music controls on it only work for Apple Music, but that is because Apple doesn't want you to be able to control pandora or spottily on an iPhone with anything other than an Apple Watch. I recently got a bike and Garmin sells a sensor to put on the crank of the bike to track how many pedals you get on a ride. Can't say enough good things about this Activity Tracker. Oh, and it also connects with MFP, Apple Health and other fitness type apps to pull and push data.
  25. Doing the opposite here. I am using Premier Protein Vanilla as a replacement for cream in iced coffee and as a replacement for milk when eating a small bowl of Cinnamon Pecan Special K. I second the others. Just look up the value of the dry separate form the milk and add them both to your breakfast entry.
