  1. Just wanted to put this out there. Today, I reached my 60lb weight loss goal. Still have 30 or so to go. But after a 3 month stall, I didn't think the scale would ever move again. Don't give up and don't get upset if you hit a stall. As long as you are doing what you're supposed to be doing, the scale will move -- EVENTUALLY. Good things come to those who wait. Thank you SLEEVE!

local tragedy has the single women in a panic

I saw that too. Being from Seattle myself, it freaked me out. Knowing that I was in dating mode not that long ago, freaked me out even more. Really getting harder and harder to trust people. Thankfully, they did catch the guy she went on a date with. Hoping if he is guilty he's prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Prayers for her 3 kids.

    Denver Area Plastic Surgeons

Have you checked out realself.com to research any other ones? I'm having a consult in the state I live in (ND) and the state my family lives in (WA) to see which one is better and how different the prices are. Lets face it, price matters. Not that I would go with the lowest bidder, but 33k seems really high.

    Sleeve or band

I had the band for 2 years and had to have it out due to slipping and cutting off blood supply to my stomach. Took me almost 10 years to get my sleeve because of the fear I had about my experience with the band. I didn't know what I could or couldn't eat one day to the next because of the band. Its so temperamental. I would never in a million years tell anyone to get the band. I was so depressed and miserable for the 2 years I had it. As soon as I got it removed, my personality came back. My 2 cents--

    Anyone from Minnesota?

While, I'm not from Minnesota, I live right next door in North Dakota! Congrats on your surgery and welcome to the club. My doctor told me about the support group in my area, although it's via a Tele-presence. Maybe your doc can suggest one for you?

    Spices, Seasonings, Herbs, and Condiments

I can't stop putting Gochujang (Korean Red Pepper paste) on all the chicken breast I cook. Its just spicy enough to give me the kick I need.
  11. Great job so far, that is impressive and considering your knee replacement! Today is my 5th month and I'm down 50 total. I have about 45 left to go as well. We got this!

    Unwanted advances

I've noticed the advances are hourly or daily now that I've lost 50lbs. Little better class of guys anyway. My husband watched a bar full of guys eyeballing me and was so proud that HE was the one that got to go home with me. I try to keep eye contact at a minimum because I don't want that kind of attention. I'm very embarrassed by it now that I'm not heavier. I agree with the RBF comment, that'll help although the booze bottle hot dog shoppers won't care. LOL

    NWWLS in Seattle, anyone?

I originally had my lapband at NWWLS with Dr Michaelson. I had a good experience, he even waived his fee when my band slipped and had to have an emergency removal. He is the only doctor that I ever dealt with. You should do whatever you feel is right for you. If you're not getting the warm fuzzies with them then go elsewhere.
  14. I take my Synthroid at 7am and then couple hours later take my vitamins, PPL, etc. I know you're only supposed to take a thyroid supplement with water, and then nothing for 30 mins after that.
  15. Sleeved 9/3 and down 32 lbs. I couldn't be happier. I didn't have complications, but constipation for the first 3 weeks. I think my worst problem is weighing myself daily. I get obsessed. Every day is a learning process on what I can eat. I'm just sorry I didn't do this sooner. Too much time spent over weight and in pain. Life is a gift!

    Well that was different

I was having a procedure and had a nurse pass out on top of me. I just thought, "OMG, what the hell is this doctor doing to me" LOL. Turns out she didn't eat breakfast. Glad you are ok! Nurses are human too.

    Sleeve buddy

Sleeved on the 3rd of Sept here. Doing great, started back at work today. Getting protein & water in has been a challenge. But I definitely have the "want to chew" thing going on. I feel like I'm hungry but still trying to decipher all the stuff going on in my belly. Weight is coming off so I'm not complaining! Congrats to all of us for making this decision..
  18. Just had my second back surgery Oct 2014 (fusion, for disk issues). I'm only doing the pre-surgery diet and have lost 12lbs and just from that have noticed my back pain is less and less, and I work at a desk 8 hours a day. It's definitely going to help.
  19. I'm on my 2 week low carb diet. I don't have to do a liquid diet before the surgery. But I've already lost 7lbs and my blood pressure is down. Cannot wait until Sept 3!
  20. Thank goodness my date is Sept 3. Just found out I have high blood pressure & had to start on high cholesterol meds. If ever there was a need for this surgery it's now.

Christian sleevers any the just had...

So happy to see this! I'm still Pre-Op, I start my 2 week diet on Thursday. Surgery is on Sept 3rd. Would love to have some fellowship with Christian Sleevers..
  23. It really depends on your employer they dictate what is covered and how. I also have UHC and I don't have to do a 6 Month diet or plan or anything. Just needed 40 or higher BMI or 35BMI with co-morbidities. Whatever you have to do to play their game is going to be worth it in the long run.
  24. Just got my date today. Sept 3rd is the lucky day for my surgery! Start my pre-op diet on 8/20..Had a band removed 6 years ago and this will be very exciting to see how different this is from that band. I was so miserable with my band. From what I've been reading the Sleeve sounds like a great fit for me. So proud of everyone on this journey to take their health seriously. Hooray!

    Moving to Spokane, Washington

HI @@Katnipt - I too am moving back to WA from ND. I'll be in the Spokane area around the same time as you. From what I know of people that had the surgery in Spokane, a majority of them go to Seattle to have it done. Its not too long of a drive and only 45 min plane ride. Good Luck - Julie
