  1. I think they want to quietly phase the band out....quietly.Real slick I may add.I see Governor Christie got the lapband...he has lost a significant amount of weight....if he had gotten the sleeve or Bypass it would be interesting to see the results in comparison.Like the rest of us he will see that the band is complicated...I myself never really lost a great amount of weight initially.I have become a grazer and a reluctant Bulimic because the vomiting when it does happen is unhealthy. My reflux and Gerd coupled with the vomiting is a secret hell.

    Pep talk needed

I am worried myself.I should of chosen the RNY back in 2004.I had the choice and I went with the lapband because it was the "new" less invasive way to go....In the end....not really...from what I can see the Sleeve seems to be working for a number of people.I need to take autoimmune drugs that I will be on for the rest of my life.Malabsorbtion is not an option .So I am sticking with the Sleeve...and I am just like you...scarred from the band eating ravenously when I can because I never know when I Am going to barf..,this is what we have become from having the band.It is a form of bulimia....thanks to the band and my food cravings and addictive personality.Go Sleeve and don't look back! You will get on track because that craving enzynme will be reduced.Keep me posted!

    Lap and out...Bypass or Sleeve?

    Wow!I love to hear success...88 pounds!!!Thats sweet!
  13. I am disgusted with this band.Went to see a new surgeon and am scheduled for a Barium/X-ray to see if the band has slipped or eroded. He only performs 2 stage procedures.Band removal then a waiting period of 3 months....needless to say I ain't jumping for joy over the wait.Without this awful band I will become the Goodyear Blimp!!It got me thinking,Sleeve or Bypass?Pros and cons.He stated that the Sleeve is irreversible and that the Bypass is complex but more can be done if need be.In essence they are both complex.i understand that I am the driver of my own success but I can't fail again. What are the long term success of the sleeve vs band?Need testimonials and thoughts regarding both procedures.
  14. #10 my insurance didn't cover mine and mine had to be done in 2 surgeries. I had to wait 7 months because the amount of damage the band did to my stomach, it was horrible. I was having upper gi's every month for 4 months and i still had a lot of holes, damage and paralyzation of my stomach. We decided to quit putting me under the stress of coming in for upper gi's every month and decided to wait another 3 months to let it heal and let my body heal. we knew the whole time my insurance wasn't going to cover it and my dr was just being cautious for me. If i would have done it all in one i would have bled to death internally do to the damage and scar tissue of the inside of my stomach. trust me, take the time and let your stomach heal or you will have big problems. i only gained 6 lbs in those 7 months also. i watched what i ate. OMG.This is crazy damage...,what do you mean the insurance company didn't want to pay???What insurance do you have. Also this band leads me to believe that it needs to be taken off the market.Too many of us are having trouble...Its defective. I guess I need to do it in 2 surgeries ...better safe than sorry.

    Best investment ever- WLS

Is it the same for RNY and Sleeve?
  21. I was banded in 2004.At that time it was band or bypass.I chose the Band.I am and have been miserable for years.I have completed me to terms with the fact that the band never really worked for me.I was initially 269 and got down to 219.never saw those incredible results.I have struggled with port site bain, bloating, port pain, aches and sliming and vomiting up.I have a "Barf" bag that I have on hand.I am always hungry, acid reflux is off the hook!I am a bulimic because I never know when I can keep it down.Had my gallbladder out 5 years ago.I am going to the doctor to see about a gastric sleeve revision.I am miserable and in pain. I have horizon NJ Health.I need them to cover this revision
