  1. #1 My surgery is October 26th. I had a complete hysterectomy in 2013, and three years of tamoxifen before that. I thought I was done with all my hormone issues, but with the beginning of my pre-op liquid diet, I'm starting to feel as though I'm experiencing a hormonal response. So I'm thinking, the body stores estrogen in fat. I'm losing fat now, with more to come. Could there still be enough residual estrogen in my system to cause me trouble? It's not going to stop me, but forewarned is fore-armed, and my husband and son will want to know if they should be prepared to duck and cover. We are very similar.I take anastrazole
  2. I wish my doctor at the time would have urged me to pick Bypass over lapband back in 2004.

    Official November Bypass thread

Same here.Same story. The reflux is unbelievable.I was also going the way of the sleeve but after much thought and research I am going with what common sense should have told me the first time...Bypass,Why would I want to cut 85% of my tortured stomach?I am damaged from the band.I have to get through this sleep apnea test and a psych then I am ready to submit.I am hoping 1 surgery in December.

  10. @@choosehope Yay - ladies my age! I'll turn 54 next month. I had bypass 4/21/15 and had my 5 month anniversary this past Monday. I took pics and will share them with y'all. As hard as it was to take those "before" pics, I'm so glad I did. I took pics in three different outfits. I took them again at 3 months and now at 5 since I hit a personal goal of "75 lbs" lost. I can't believe how that once tight 3X now hangs on me. It was my son's suggestion to hold my shirt out to show the difference. The black outfit is a size "L". Haven't been in regular size clothes in years. I have hit stalls along the way after my surgery but have upped my Protein to average an of 125 grams, keeping within my 850 calorie goal, so that seems to be doing the trick. I've been battling obesity for 30+ years so I will take my success and be happy with it as I feel blessed to have had this life changing operation. It's my second chance at life and I will NOT squander it!!! HW: 285 lbs SW: 257 lbs CW: 181 lbs OMG!!!You look fantastic.A totally different person. An Inspiration!!!Congratulations!
  11. Yes insurance puts you through the ringer.I was having pushback about tests etc. Finally went to the ER after one of my vomiting episodes. It forced them to do an upper GI an they uncovered a mild hiatal hernia. Then had to go to my primary to get a referral for an endoscopy. He found nothing.Had the band unfilled. It only had 2cc's to begin with...ugh.I was told I had a "torturous esophagus".It was in the report! I am going through all the hoops...just saw the pulmonary doctor and he is recommending me for a sleep study....sleep apnea he thinks...now gotta see if insurance covers in home or clinical.Had a stress test.Insurance denied Echo and the nuclear stress test so I had basic. Now I am trying to find a Psych for evaluation.Very few want to accept insurance and scheduling is an issue.I am going through the hoops but I don't have money to self pay.

    metabolic Syndrome

Is there a specific test for Metabolic syndrome? Can it be diagnosed with a blood specific test?
  13. Just want ta healthy recovery...means you gotta get back on your feet ASAP! :-)
  14. #5 I started thinking about it 5 months after I started gaining weight and having terrible acid reflux. I had the band removed, but pondering over which revision to do. I'm thinking RNY due to diabetes but I only weigh 215. I'm worried of becoming too thin. Keep in touch! Too thin?when I was 215 I was still obese and I am 5'10".Not a chance.Slim would be nice.
  15. I have had my band over 11 years ...miserable and just as fat as I started.Pain ,reflux etc.Was considering the Sleeve but after lots of research and thinking I am going with RNY and I am excited. It was what I should of done the first time.
  16. Indeed. In the end the choice is yours.
  17. Will check it out!!!!:-)

    Reputable Financing Options VSG Mexico

Go with a reputable Doctor.I have heard good things about Dr. Altamarino.Reputable.I have heard of someone who is a member of this site being allegedly raped at a facility in Mexico. No one accompanied her and it is a harrowing ordeal. So do your research and choose carefully.
