I am suffering from short term memory loss also, can I ask what your test results said? I'm about to have my one year anniversary as well. I contributed the memory loss to the surgery, but haven't been able to get checked out to find out why. -

Need ideas for Xmas gift for recent VSG patient

Thank you all for your replies, I've decided to get her a digital scale because hers is ancient and a plaque showing my appreciation for all that she does. The stripper idea was hilarious and I'm sure she'd enjoy, but just not the right touch. I'm into tattoos and she's interested, she has a birthday in February so I think I will save up for that, I really love that idea, will just need to find the right design. Again thanks guys! If you have ideas for designs I'm all ears. Happy Holidays and keep up the good work. ???? -
Need ideas for Xmas gift for recent VSG patient

Any ideas on a Christmas gift for someone who is six months post op for VSG surgery? She's very close to her goal weight or what she's happy with. I've already ordered a digital scale, hers is ancient, but I want to get her more. We had our surgery together and it's my mom, she's helped me so much and I just want to show my gratitude. But no clue what to get. -

Warning sleevers! Bad stomach virus!

If any of you had your surgeries here in the states and can ask your doctors office that would be good to know going forward. I just happened to have been unlucky and caught a cold and that nasty stomach virus, but I had my surgery in Mexico. And really once he's done with you, you're on your own. I used to always catch a tummy bug if anyone around me had one, I really hope that has changed now. I'm still recouping. -

Warning sleevers! Bad stomach virus!

I just wanted to take a quick second to warn my fellow peers with tiny tummies that there is a very bad stomach virus going around. I live in Dallas and had the pleasure of catching it, I was out for about 4 days and couldn't eat. I felt bloated, nauseous, and oddly full when I tried to force feed myself. You also get the regular things that come with stomach viruses, but I don't need to spell that out for you guys. I was worried I'd end up in the hospital seeing we rely on our protein and vitamins so much, but somehow I have pulled through. So please wash your hands and/or use hand sanitizer like crazy. My coworkers who have regular tummies were out about 2-3 days, so please take care of yourselves. -
@@ylluz Glad to hear you're feeling better too. Make sure to take some extra vitamin C. Here where I live and at my work there is a BAD stomach bug going around. It's taking everyone out of commission for at least 2 days and with us it takes time to recover from. I'm pretty sure now I had that and a cold together, but I'm finally on the mend. Just with our new tummies everything affects us differently. It's all a learning process. Love these forums, sometimes I think they're better than the doctors. They only 'practice' medicine anyways. Lol. Unfortunately for the tummy bug there's nothing you can do but wait it out.

@@ylluz today is the first day I've started to feel like myself. I think the Danactive and extremely slowly eating has helped. It's just a few days of hell first. Hope you feel better.

@@ylluz I just remembered something different I added as a Hail Mary that I think may have made a difference. I've been told I look bad but sound better than I have in the last few days. I started taking/drinking Danactive immune yesterday. It's a small amount and was pretty easy to get down. Since then in spurts I've felt a bit better and other than force feeding myself overnight it's the only change which started yesterday

@@ylluz sorry for the double posts I'm a little foggy brained and after I replied to one realized you answered on the other. ???? yes if I eat it slow cheese isn't too bad, not much caloric help or protein but fruit isn't horrible. (TMI ALERT) I've been asked if I'm having regular gas and bms to ensure there's no blockage, I'm good on that end. It's something to consider

@@ylluz I'm not feeling any better either. I'm taking different otc sinus and cold medicine to see what works best. My biggest problem is I can't eat, I'm very nauseous and feel full. I've also thrown up too. I'm staying hydrated but water and Gatorade is the most I can get down. I'm nibbling on some cheese or crackers so the meds don't upset my tummy. I have found eating extremely slow helps a little but I'm talking snail speed. I'm getting really exhausted, like the fatigued feeling we had right after surgery. I've tried the protein shakes but I just can't get them down. I hope you start to feel better if I figure something out I will definitely let you know. Good luck!

@@ylluz I hope you feel better. I always just have to see what works. How's your appetite or what we know as an appetite?

I always catch a cold over winter, but geez not this early. My problem is I can't eat. I even tried forcing the protein shake down, but I feel full. I think it's the drainage, just taking DayQuil or something equivalent otc. I'm just exhausted and slept the entire weekend. I'm about 10 weeks post op, had lab work not too long ago and everything was fine. Any sleevers that are farther out or have been through something similar have any advice?
-
I'm sick now and wow this is hard. I'm just taking DayQuil or something OTC with Tylenol, but I can't eat. I can't even force myself. I'm drinking water but even that's hard. My stomach feels almost full and upset. I think it's from all the drainage. This is only day 2, getting sick takes so much out of me.

I am about 8 weeks post op and maybe 2-3 weeks ago I started getting zits or white heads is on my chest and shoulders. In the past I might have one or two every now and then, but right now my chest is all broken out. Since I've started loosing I've tried to be more vigilant about moisturizing my face, neck, and chest. I thought this could be the reason, so I stopped applying it to my chest. Then a day or two later I broke out pretty bad (for me). Broke out all over my face and chest. Any suggestions or explanation as to why. I've read when breaking down fat our hormones breakdown as well and I may get little surges of it causing something like this.
