Had Lapband surgery way back in 2007. Worked great for a while till it was filled too tightly and I lost insurance coverage. Lost about 120 lbs in a year but gained half of it back during the years I was un insured. Couldn't afford to fill/unfill the band. Stuck my head in the sand and ignored the weight re-gain. Was worried I was a failure and that no doctor would authorize a different surgery because I failed with the lapband. Eventually developed a dilated esophagus which caused GERD, reflux, food intolerance, and weight regain. Finally got the courage to see Dr. Wittgrove. Turns out it wasn't my fault. I didn't fail the band. The band failed me. I was instantly approved for revision to Gastric Bypass. three months later and have almost lost all the weight I regained on the band. Life is so much easier now. No more vomiting and waking up and coughing at night. I can finally eat like a normal, healthy human being again.
