SPettijo replied to James Marusek's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums

PCOS LADIES Getting pregnant post op
SPettijo replied to KerryRNY04162015's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I have no ambition to get Pregnant, however I do have PCOS and I can tell you that three weeks post op I had my first period in over two years. I know it's a sign of getting healthier, but I have to say I had hoped it would wait a bit longer to start up again I would say if after a two year absence my periods started again that quickly in my amature speculation that you shouldn''t have a hard time having a baby when you're ready and after the waiting period is over. I have a three year recommended waiting period before attempting pregnancy is yours really only a year? -
Hello Twoderville! How do I celebrate? Ideas?
SPettijo replied to nuzzlebear40's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congradulations! I would normally say go get a colorful manicure... (which is what I will do when I'm below 300) but for getting below 400 I bought myself about $200 worth of books. (I had a couple gift cards) I would mainly think of something you really enjoy and then... over do it just a little. Obviously not food or beverage related. What are some of the things you like to do but don't necessarily sound like rewards? -

My salvation wasn't a cream Soup but beef broth. Then I moved on to split pea soup and tomato soup. I'm not a fan of cream soups. -
Feelings of guilt and failure
SPettijo replied to missy5099's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
You're not a lost cause. The fact that your here that you've made a decision proves you aren't a lost cause. It's fine to have doubts. Will you need to change your eating habits? Yes. Will you need to get your body moving? Yes. IS WLS a cure? Nope. It's a tool. A tool to help you change your body to a healthier body so you can live longer. You're not a failure for considering something to help you achieve your goals. Even if you don't go through with WLS you're still not a lost cause. You just have to make the decision that's right for you and we'll be here for you no matter your choice. -
Good vitamin with NO IRON!
SPettijo replied to Sreeves's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi there, I get my Vitamins from Bariatric Advantage and have enjoyed them. I am currently on the chewable but was on the capsules before surgery for about six weeks. I was on the capsule with Iron but they have one without. Don't know if this helps at all. First or Third might work. https://www1.bariatricadvantage.com/catalog/us-en/1/Multivitamins -
Changing Taste delays
SPettijo replied to SPettijo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I really appreciate everyones suggestions! I may see if I can get to the GNC here in town to find something. Today I skipped the shake and my taste buds threw a party. I know I had some shakes pre-op that I really liked. -
Your surgeon needs to be the one to okay oral birth control. I know the first surgeon I consulted with told me he didn't allow patients back on oral birth control for three to six months. I know different surgeons do different times. If you are engaging in activities that would get you pregnant please please use something otherwise you could severely jeopardize your surgery and and the health of an unborn which would be hard on you too.
