  1. Blessing to everyone having surgery today. I feel like a Momma Hen!
  2. I had my surgery on September 9th. I was so worried about constipation, but finally on day 4 post op I went. Whew! I am getting my Protein shakes and cream Soups. I licked a piece of bacon yesterday boy was that a treat. I am not a huge fan of fruity waters now either. Just plain ole Water will do. Try to meet or exceed my 64oz a day. My BIGGEST problem right now is waking up with severe migraines. They hurt so bad. Anyone else?

    Struggling with CPAP

My low pressure is 4.2 and I was classified and severe sleep apnea. I also wore my mask while just sitting in bed waiting for the sleep fairy to arrive. I have a very light mask with nasal pillows and the tube goes up my face and connects in back. Very light and non intrusive. My pressure has gone up to 17 and 18.4 when I sleep. Since my surgery I have not passed 10

    Extramarital temptations...

I have to chime in here. After being the wife of a cheating husband (three times) I can say if you don't want to be in a committed relationship then LEAVE. My husband and I have been to years of therapy, I told him early on LEAVE, DO NOT DO THIS TO ME. It has been years since that all happened. I love him dearly, completely trust him, yes, but there are times the devil's child perches on my shoulder and puts thoughts in my head. An open relationship will only lead to vast problems down the road. In my opinion you are in or out. Nothing wrong with being out, but don't deceive!

    Struggling day 7 post op

So sad to read of how we turn on each other. Everyone is different, each life different, each situation different, each style and taste of eating different. One thing that is similar is our Quest to be healthy, eat better, change our habits of bad choice and foods. We can't do this along, many times our family members don't feel what we feel, so turning here for support and encouragement and advice is so nice. We all have read posts that we just shake our heads at, but please don't comment then, walk away. Make positive uplifting and encouraging comments. You'll need them one day and we will be here for you.

    I'm Home....Surgery September 9th

Day four since surgery. I'm doing well. Began my Protein shakes today, and cream Soups. Cream of tomato tasted like prime rib. I also took one piece of my husband's hash and a tiny, tiny piece of egg. I chewed a million times and had no issues. Cream of potato for lunch. I think I will have cream of chicken for dinner with a strawberry Protein shake.
  9. I am three days post op and took 5ml my pain meds today. Crystal Light Peach sugar free, Water, unjury chicken soup and I just downed about 2 oz of tomato soup. Sorry my days are blending together. Ok I have another one...I'm suprised that at officially one week out, I'm still experiencing pain in my main incision from which my stomach and hernia were removed. It's at a level 8! I called my doctor and they just advised me to call the office tomorrow morning to see about getting a refill on my pain meds. I don't think it's infected or anything, but I know I made a couple wrong turns and may have pulled on it too much. I'm hoping it subsides in the next coming days, but it's pretty bad. How long did it take for you guys' pain to completely go away and go no longer need pain meds?
  10. This is my 3rd full day after surgery. I am so ready for food. Something soft, oatmeal, grits, something. Tomorrow I start my liquid diet with Soups.

    Swallowing Pills

I am two days post op and my pain meds are liquid. My nausea meds are melt away under my tongue. My heartburn med is a capsule and has been the most difficult. My biggest challenge is 64 ounces of liquids a day.

    I'm Home....Surgery September 9th

Just took more pain meds about an hour ago. I slept for about an hour maybe. Tried unjury chicken Soup, best thing I've had so far. I will stay up for another few minutes then back to bed. I feel so tired.
  13. Ahhhh, the starvation diet is almost over. LOL I check into Northwest Weight Loss Center tomorrow morning at 8 a.m. Surgery is scheduled for 8:30. So excited, no anxious, and yes still nervous. Tomorrow begins my biggest journey in life. Anyone else? Friend me or I will friend you. Blessing to each and everyone who's words I read when I was feeling weak and when I fell off my wagon. You each matter so much. So who's in the 9/9/15 club?

    Below Drivers License weight!

I can't believe those that lied on their drivers license! (looking for house falling from the sky) I put the ultimate truth on mine 6'5" and 300#
  16. To bjcarver, I haven't cheated but it seems like my pre surgery diet is different. I have 3 to 4 Protein Shakes a day, then a Lean Cusine meal or that type 350 calories or less. Today, the day before my surgery, I am really packing in the liquid. Then for dinner I am going to have a big fluffy salad with lots of green, cooked ground turkey and ricotta cheese. Some lite ranch or cesar dressing or lemon pepper sprinkle and I should be good. Nothing after midnight, but I should be in bed by 9 or 10. So that will be my last of anything which will probably be lemon Water or perhaps some Jello. I'm ready for tomorrow.
  17. Yes, Here We Go!!!!! It's going to be a wild, exciting and fantastic ride. Loving all my new friends. Thank you for such encouragement and spirit!!!
  18. I will keep you in mind Susie, mine is the 9th too. Check in at 8 a.m. Cheers to our speedy and successful recovery.

    Husband rant!

I feel for you dhrguru, I really do. My husband doesn't say much only that he is concerned about the drastic nature of this surgery. He loves me the way I am, and loves me lighter as I was the day we met. I've never been a stick kind of gal, so at my lowest I was a size 12. I hope that being able to do things again, walk, bike, hike will be a positive to him. He says he wants me to be healthy, so I'm hoping for all kinds of good to come. Right now he is mostly silent. Hmmmmm
  20. I have surgery on the 9th of September too! I am on my pre op diet, but it sound a bit more relaxed than some. Protein shakes 3 or 4 a day, then a lean cusine (or similar) dinner at night. I've done a few salads too. Just back from vacation or a long weekend. Work tomorrow, then surgery on Wednesday. I can't wait. Check in time 8 a.m.

  22. WOW...WOW...WOW I can't believe your Doctor said that to you. My primary care doctor has been AMAZING!!!! He helped me through my 6 month supervised weight loss for the insurance approval and has always been a strong encourager! He is the one who told me to go to this Weight Loss Center to begin with. I check in next week Wed. September 9th at 8:30a.m. There are four of us having surgery that day. I am excited now, very excited. You will get through this and I would encourage you to let your Doctor know how he made you feel.

    Please help me

Hi Kates706, I would say check with your local weight loss centers. I first attended an information session they offered and they had excellent advice. From there I contacted my health insurance and I had to apply for the surgery. Then I was assigned a case manager who connected with me every month as I had to do 6 months supervised weight loss management. So each month I would meet with my primary doctor and go over what I had done for the month, and my plan for the next month. He signed off on things and sent it to my insurance case manager. At the end of the six months I had to weigh less than at the beginning, or stay the same. I just could not gain any weight. Once I passed this, then the insurance determined if I was eligible. I received my approval letter in July of 2015 and will have my surgery on September 9th. The weight loss center where I will have my surgery gave me a wealth of good information. After all they deal with this every day, they deal with all kinds of payment options, insurances and situations. Let someone there help you because there are so many twists and turns along the way. Best of luck and keep us posted. We care.

    Losing the fight, Help !

I'm sorry to read your post and learn of your difficulties. I'm not sure if I have any quick fixes or super special or even magical remedies, but I can say in my opinion you really need to refocus. I have found myself craving foods that I know are not good choices, and even taking a little sneek no and then. But then I look at the path behind me and know how many times I wanted to quit, how many times I thought I was not strong enough to continue, how many times I struggled and I know I need to re-focus and stay strong. I search for the light at the end of the tunnel and I know that a light will always be there because I continue to set goals for myself and pray I will achieve them. I am the heaviest I have ever been in my life and I know how that makes me feel, so my focus is on not wanting to feel like this anymore. Go to a local support group, talk to others here. Use your Protein shakes or waters to get you by those blocks that appear on your path. You will make it and will Celebrate a healthy life. Thoughts and prayers are with you.
