NORMAL! It does get better. Keep sipping those fluids and walking though! I thought I'd fall asleep in the shower for the first few weeks!

When's the last time you lost 27 lbs in three weeks? You're doing fine! It's not a speed race-it's a different life long marathon. Your body is still healing and the weight loss fluctuations will happen. Make the mind changes about what how and when you eat. Continue to increase your walking daily as long as you feel good---walk! Most can start true gym exercises by 6 weeks-but that's up to your doc.

Revising from band to bypass in December .Need support

I'm using Nectar vanilla torte, premier chocolate, nectar unflavored and nectar strawberry-kiwi. Blendering ham and turkey, tuna with some mayo--going HIGH protein and LOW carbs!! Without the acid I can even eat a bit of blenderized salsa and not regret it!! -
Revising from band to bypass in December .Need support

Band placed in 2005...did fair for a while-- lost 110 then it seemed to stop working and I gained 60 back. Then over 2011 onward the fire backwash and reflux made my life miserable. FINALLY got the band out last spring and then gastric bypass on 11/9/15. Now I have NO REFLUX!!!! Recovery was a bit slow--way way exhausted!! So far down #21 and feeling good! -
I will be spending that first postoperative week in a hotel. What things/items do I NEED to have??

Week one post op essentials?

Thank you!!! This info really helps me pack!!! -
Try getting some extra vitamin K rich foods--like spinach or even a bit of V8--if your tummy will allow. Vitamin K is a fat soluble vitamin that affects blood clotting and post GI surgery one that is not absorbed well. Besides they shoot ya with so much blood thinners around the time of surgery to prevent blood clots it takes a bit to get back to baseline!

My GI just stated to EXPECT iron infusions after 10 years or so. I'm pre-op and was wondering if that is just his opinion/expectation or the reality of long term WLS? Anyone else being told just to expect this?
-
Yes that's what I'm asking... My stomach doc is saying that despite routine vitamins I should just expect to have iv iron for the rest of my life. Was he just trying to cover the bases /scare me or is that a reality? I am not anemic now preop...

This seems to be a frequent item discussed on the other sites I visit...they also brag about "smooth move tea".

Erron1970 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm having my surgery in another state due to insurance issues. I'm trying to figure out how many plane rides/how often I will need to go back? I'm assuming the one week. One month...two months ....?? Then what?? -

I was banded in 2005, and did okay for about 8 years then it seemed to all fall apart with severe reflux and weight re-gain. Now I have my pre-op appointment on October 9th and planning RNY BYPASS surgery 30 days after--so I'm hopping on this NOVEMBER THREAD in good hopes that I will be bypassing with you! -
Dear god...WHY AM I THIS WAY? CARBS!

I've recently been investigating overeaters anonymous because of the head being in control of the stomach. I'm wanting to get real and break with my food addiction. Its been an interesting read. My band was removed due to slip and GERD. I'm working on bypass. This is a disease that must be treated inside and out!
