I was allowed to drive as soon as I was off of pain meds and felt up to it. Just don't drive too far, because it will tire you out.

3 weeks post op - serious fatigue
Mandala27 replied to pokeyvenus's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was really exhausted in week 4. Spoke with my PCP and she instructed me to lower my BP medications by half. That did the trick for me. Since then she has lowered it again. Cheers. -
I don't think that is a totally normal question. I did not have any problems with Protein drinks, Water, or broth since the second day after surgery. No, being able to drink that easily does not stretch your stomach. You will definitely feel it more when you get into the mushy food stage. Best of luck.

I took off 4 weeks. I just started feeling "normal" in the 4th week. Best of luck on your surgery.

Am I full or not full that's the question!?
Mandala27 replied to klove89's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on 9/15/2015. I eat 4 ounces of Protein 3 times per day. I have just started to add a couple of green Beans to the mix. Anything more than that and it has come right back up. -
I have no restriction 2 1/2 weeks out, can eat normal portions. WHY?!
Mandala27 replied to Nomorethickchick's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on 9/15. On 9/29, after I met with my NUT, I was told I could eat ground meats, canned shicken, and canned tuna. The most at each meal is 4 ounces. The first 4 days I could not get in more than 2 ounces per meal, so then I had to make up with Protein drink. Today I managed to eat 4 ounces for lunch and dinner each, and I feel stuffed for hours. I am really missing veggies. -
Sleeved 9/30 - Qs 4 those weeks ahead of me!
Mandala27 replied to sleevedtbd's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Q1 - yes, it is normal to have regrets but it will go away. Q2 - Q5 - Amazon.com, CVS, or any other drugstore. Q8- Leave your incision along. Remember to walk, walk, walk and sip, sip, sip. Best of luck! -
Please, help I'm starving....
Mandala27 replied to bluedawn28's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The first 4 days after surgery I was starving and my stomach was gurgling like mad. I am now taking an acid reducer twice a day and my hunger has disappeared. Just a thought. -
Meeting with surgeon 2 weeks post op
Mandala27 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Met with my surgeon and nutritionist today - 2 weeks post op. I have lost 13 pounds, with a total of 31 lost since July 9, 2015. We were all really pleased with my progress. Am now on Stage 4 eating plan. So I got a lovely three ounces of tuna for dinner. It was absolutely awesome to chew on something. Tomorrow morning I plan to have a cheese omelette. Absolute best news is the fact that I was able to cross my legs normally this evening while at the movies. Namaste. -
I had feelings of hunger for the first 3 days or so after surgery. I now take an acid reducer in the morning and in the evening. All hunger pangs have disappeared. Best of luck to you.

It's never crossed my mind to not tell people, if they ask. The several close friends I have told have stated that they think it is a very brave decision to take, and they are so supportive.

As promised and finally

Congratulations on your amazing progress. Thank you for sharing. -
Hello Smye, I am so sorry you are having to go through this, and I speak from experience. I was married to a man who realized he was gay 14 years into our relationship/marriage and I have survived. We went through therapy together and separately, and then divorced. For me one of the hardest things to do was to come out as someone who was married to a gay man. After we divorced we did not see each other or communicate for 6 months just to get our bearings individually. He and I have remained great friends, and we speak oftern. I still visit his parents once a year. I know if it complicated, but with time you will be fine. Namaste.

Question pertaining to foods first two weeks
Mandala27 replied to con con's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 8 days post op. My list includes greek yogurt and unsweetened apple sauce. I was going crazy with just Protein shakes, so every day I have been making egg drop soup. I scramble two eggs and drop them into simmering broth, and add curry or some other spice. Has made everything more bearable for me. I have not had any problems. Best of luck. -
I just got sleeved on the 15th of September. All I used while there: cleansing face wipes, chapstick, toothbrush, phone and phone charger. You really do not need anything else. Wear the same clothes home that you wear in. No one cares what you look like in the hospital. Best of luck!

post op liquid phase question
Mandala27 replied to Shainadelphia's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No, you do not have to wait 30 minutes in this phase. When you introduce solids you wait. Make sure to validate that with you NUT. -
Anyone just been sleeved in the last week? (18th Sept today)
Mandala27 replied to septsleeve's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on the 15th and had bad nausea. On the 17th got to go home and that was a huge positive for my morale. I have been able to take in liquids quite easily. Really watching my blood sugar since it has been very low, so I think I will take myself off the very last pill as of today. I would prefer my readings to be on the high side right now. For dinner tonight I am going to have cream of chicken soup and am so looking forward to something that is not sweet. My incisions do not hurt but they are starting to itch like crazy. I actually slept on my stomach last night and that made me very happy. -
Hello Anna, Congratulations. I think it is perfectly normal to have your emotions all over the place; this is a big change. I am also having surgery on the 15th and it is amazing what keeps coming up. All the best. Mylene

That is definitely a no. It is nowhere near being a soft food.

What is it made with? That is the real question.

Do protein drinks count towards your fluids intake?
Mandala27 replied to mismatched's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My NUT says only for the first two weeks. After that she says 64 ozs of Fluid daily. -
What a difference in the before and after pics! You look amazing! Love the aprons.

My research leads me to believe that bypass surgery will almost instantly resolve your diabetes. With the number of meds you are on and still not being able to achieve good glucose control I would lean towards bypass. I have Type II diabetes and has decided to get sleeved. I am well controlled with 3 medications and my goal is to get off of as many medications as possible. Best of luck with whatever decision you make.
