I took a short vacation 2 weeks after getting banded. You have NOTHING to worry about. Just don't eat like the others, and be proud of your band, and I'm sure all of them will envy you on your new appetite (thats if they are large people) ENjoy:clap2:

Sherry, I use the Detecto scale, just like the ones you see at the docs offices. It was a little expensive when I bought it, but its TRULY WORTH every penny paid in it. We got it 10 years ago, and the whole family uses it, and still its precise just as the first day when we got it home. If you have the space then go for it, and you will never regret it

Hello Janet, Thanks a lot for your kind words, and for adding me to the list, its nice to feel untied with others (Febsters ) I like it a lot.

That begs another question, few years ago I used to play Boxing. Just wondering if sex is that dangerous, then how about going back to aggresive sports? (i'm a young guy) So what if I ever got into a fight for any reason and I got a punch in the port area?.... I know its never going to happen but what if?

thanks a lot Cashley But rule # 1 says "eat only 3 meals a day" I always thought eating even smaller quantaties but (more meals) is even better. Like eating 5 small meals. Doesn't this work with the band? -
I was told by my dr that I could go on bunje jumping without any problems. So I don't think little movments would slip your band

Soda.......to drink or not to drink??
Magic replied to Clementine's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thats the only thing that my sergeon says NO, NO, NO, NO AND NO to it, he said you might eat or drink whatever you want every once in a while. Except drinking carbonated drinks. Like most of you, I was addicted to Diet Coke and Sprite. Now had nothing for the past 2 months, and I think I got over it 100% If i'm craving a sweet drink to gulp down (like I used to do with the sodas) I drink a fruit juice. I know its full of calories, but at least it won't slip my band like the carbonated drinks -
Susan, Honest to god, THIS IS THE BEST ANSWER I got about my never ending question, which is why I can eat too much? See as I said before, I never had the privilage to sit with someone who could answer all of my question after the surgery. Doc not around and no local support group. You are very knowledgeable:) , thanks a lot:) But now you got me VERY worried about the fragile sutures in my stomach... Do you think I have done any harm to it? as in the past few days I was stuffing myself big time.... Maybe there is a good sign, that I think that I healed well and all the swells went away, before I start eating like crazy. So does it mean sutures are fine and safe? plus I don't feel anything weird now, so does that suggest my sutures are fine? I wish I heard your words before I put myself in this bad situation. Thanks a lot

sorry to hear about your troubles. But I have to agree that this is the freakin cold/flu/pain season. that everybody I know is sick or getting sick.... I've had a TERRIBLE sinus pressure, took antibio's for 2 weeks, once it cleared up. I got a HORRIBLE sore throat, and ear pain. Once it was over, once again I got the worst neck pain I've ever got... Good luck, drink tea with lots of honey, or hot milk with honey....

YES, I have the same exaxt question since I'm a new bandster and don't know how having eaten enough food is being felt. Sometimes I feel a some pressure (could be arritating sometimes) so I think I'm full, but few seconds later, I feel the bite that casued me the pain had made its way through the band, so itsn't a true sign of having eaten enough food. becuase sometimes I feel this pressure/pain thing during the first bite I take, so i don't think its a very clear indication to stop eating....could you please explain this more.

could be useful, but sounds very abnormal to me:confused: -
I think Jean is 100% right, since the band needs maintenance all the times (fill, unfill, fill, unfill) and so on... I'm not very familiar with US insurance co. But can you ask them to only cover your operation cost, and then you carry the rest of the adjustments fees. I know, it's the best solution, but still better than nothing. Hope that helps and good luck

I was searching for the Feb bandsters on the general forum, and was soooo disapointed to only find the March one. But here I found youuuuuuuuuuuu Banded on 2/22 By Dr. Vincent Frering. Lyon, France

Guys, although you kicked my ass really good. HOWEVER, you don't imagine how greatfull I am to your wisdom and support. I put my problem on the table knowing that I would get blamed for what I did. cause I knew deep in my heart that there was something wrong big time in what I was doing. I always thought I would have (60%) restriction from the band alone, and the rest comes from fills. so I feel very very comfortable to learn that I'm not the only one who feels no restriction from the band alone, and the restriction comes from fills, and its quite normal that I can eat a lot. I started to really think deep and hard, and you are right in all what you said. espically what ddiedre said about the drinking problem, I always thought its not good to drink while eating casue it will take the space of the food we are supposed to eat, but never knew drinking while eating flushes the food down, thus, allowing me to eat even more... Plus, yesterday I started to TRY to eat like a bandster, and it really works. You know bad eating habits (like what I was doing) are REALLY HARD to break, otherwise why did all of us got the band... To be honest, I blame it on the doc and the local support group, that I was missing a lot of very important facts. The doc is in another country so I can't really visit him or call him (except once in a blue moon)..and I have no local support group since there aren't any exists where I live now. At the end you are my supporters and mentors. Thanks a lot, and lots of hugs and kisses to you all:) -
I've NEVER even noticed that altough I have it in my signiture. However I'm still happy for scoring a 2nd place. As I never got that before:scared:
-
BUT, if you got the ID bracelet, wouldn't all the others get curious about the bracelet, and then EVERYBODY around would know about our little secret (the band)??
-
Dear Sherry, To be nonest, I've never heard of a medical bracelets before, HOWEVER, after thinking about it, I really like the idea... Although I'm a guy, I might still wear the bracelet Tell me guys which one is the nicest out of these http://www.fiddledeeids.com/catalog.php?category=mens

Guys thanks a lot for your words But I'm already eating soild food, becuase my sergeon's instruction was to start eating solid food right after week one. Maybe that's becuase its the MID-band what I got. Plus my sergeon supposed to be really good (done more than 4500) bands, so all of swells went away 5 days post-op. -
Maybe you should get the info tattooed on your chest :help: :help: Guys, come on, do u think in the ER they would go about searching in your neckless and bracelets for the secret word?? What are the chances that you will get in such accident? maybe (5%), and out of that (5%) what is the chance you will get knocked out? maybe (1%) (VERY VERY little) PLUS you are not a cancer patient who's life is on the edge to wear such a bracelet all the timeS I guess you are over worrying, sorry I don't want to hurt anyone by what I'm saying, but relax, live normal and enjoy.

Hi Mr. Walken, I got banded few weeks before you. Banded on 3/22/06. So I know EXACTLY what are you talking about. You will feel more hunger as you heal. And the more you heal and your body accepts the band, the more hungry you would become... I got the mid-band in France, and the doc. allows you to start with solid food after a week or so. I'm facing this problem where I eat a lot now, and feel hungry almost like before the op. Doc says the real restriction would come from the fills and not the band itself... as I believe the restriction from the band alone (no fills) is equal to only 20% Good luck and enjoy food while you can:)

Today I went for a drive, and I guess what. MY SEATBELT is way too far from my port:clap2: I have the port on the left side of my chest.. About the neck thing, I believe all seatbelts have an adjustment nob, where you can lower of higher the belt so it won't go over your neck. try to look for that and good luck:)

Hello group, What is the best way to get our daily Protein? (aside from food of course) Protein shakes are very high in calories, any other suggestions ???
-
Same here. Except that I never woke up from the pain:notagree It happened to me when I gained weight too fast, I guess my feet went on a strike against all the new fat it had to carry....
-
Wowwwwwwwwwwww You brought an idea to my attention, what if the seatbelt is going over the port all the times. Since I got the band (1 month) ago I haven't driven yet. So did anybody face that problem???
