Day after surgery went well. Was released to go home this evening and I am so happy to be in my own bed! I did not have much gas in the beginning but it has increased by tonight. I call it bubble guts because it feels like little bubbles rising in my chest and throat. I take the gas x strips and it helps some. One thing that I am SO thankful for is the tummy binder my doc ordered for me. It helps bind my belly and especially important when I cough.. Or like yesterday when I dry heaved like crazy! Hoping the next few days are much better!!

Surgery is now behind me, yay! I am so surprised how tired I was. The anesthesia took till about midnight to completely wear off enough for me to get up and walk. I would fall asleep within a minute of waking and I just could not seem to get myself together! The nausea after is the worst! A combo of not eating and the meds left me feeling like I would hurl any moment. But I never did! I just kept sleeping so that I wouldn't have to deal with it. After about 4 Pm I refused the pain meds because I really was not hurting and I think that contributed to my nausea. About 11 ish I guess, I got up again and walked around the floor. That was a piece of cake! It's now almost two am and I am awake.. Ready to get moving! Lol There truly is no hunger or hunger pains after surgery which I am thankful of. Should be moved to clear liquids in the morning. So far so good guys!

The surgery went great I was told. When I woke after surgery there was not too much pain but I was highly nauseous and could not wake up. This has been going on all day so I have only been out of bed twice to use the restroom. It's 10 pm now and I am waking longer and the nausea has subsided some. No eat or drink till the morning though. Which is fine because I am not hungry anyway. Will keep you all posted!

October 12th surgery
Astrosgirl replied to Astrosgirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Today is the last day before surgery for me. I will tell you that I almost drove myself crazy on nothing but liquids for two weeks. Failed two separate times and ate a small salad. I ratted myself out to the doctor because I was SO guilty. He was very sympathetic and told me not to beat myself up about it. If this was easy then we would not need the surgery! Very sound advice. I have gotten stronger at resisting as the day approaches but I still get cravings and even found myself licking the spoon that I was stirring spaghetti sauce with for the kids just yesterday.. Lol. I find it disturbing when I read on other posts that if you can't resist then you must not be ready for this step. Like an idiot I even started thinking that way and on that day that I confessed my salad chewing to the surgeon and told him the things I had read, he just laughed. Yes it is important to follow the diet and it is beneficial to shrink your liver but food addiction is a very hard thing to overcome and not beating yourself up about a small setback is the key. Hey, at least I didn't lick the donuts at work the other day.. ???? We need to remember that we are human.. Addicted.. And we just need to keep on truckin! Don't give in to defeat! -

October 12th surgery
Astrosgirl replied to Astrosgirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would love to have something to chew! Doc has me on a liquid only diet. No sugar over 5 grams and 15+ grams of protein each serving. I can have clear broth and sugar free jello/Popsicles. That is all. The bariatric advantage multivitamins are also making me nauseous... I am not sure why my doc has such a strict pre-op diet but I lost 8 lbs the first week and lost 3 more so far this week. Guess that's a good thing! I just keep telling myself it is all worth it!! I know I can do this!!! -
October 12th surgery
Astrosgirl replied to Astrosgirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Liquid diet for two weeks has been awful! I am okay during the day at work but by the time I get home and start dinner for the kids and husband I could eat a whole cow! Nothing is curbing the hunger and I can sip on broth until the cows come home but I still feel starving. Light headed and dizzy spells started this week as well. Seriously feel like if I can't make it this last week then what will be the point of having surgery on Monday. I would hate to go through all of this and not be any better on the other side of it. Agh! Just venting guys.. ???? -

October 12th surgery

One week guys!!! Oh my gosh I really hope this week flies by!! I have my mother flying in on Friday to stay with me during my surgery and recovery and it cannot get here fast enough! -
I believe it's your choice who you tell! I chose to tell my co workers and friends and of course I got the usual rhetoric.. Your not big enough..try this new diet.. This is surgery and it's extreme to go to that length just to lose weight.. Whatever. They all know I will do what I want and this decision is one that I made with the very best education and research. Who cares what people think. Go us for changing our lives!! I wish I would have done it sooner, and I am not at all ashamed of the path I have chosen to take me there!

Tonight is the last supper I will have in a while... Tomorrow I start my two week liquid diet prior to surgery and my hubby has asked me what I want for dinner. He will take me wherever I want to go.. Problem is, I don't know what I want! Lol! Steak sounds good but so does Italian.. What did you guys eat on that last day? How did you feel? I know I feel a little sad, food funeral for sure. I am questioning whether this is really what I need to do in order to finally be healthy, and I know it is, but I still can't help thinking about it. Little emotional today for sure!!

Astrosgirl replied to jlouise23's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
October 12th for me. I work for the hospital that will be performing the surgery and on Friday I saw my name attached to our OR schedule. That's when it REALLY sank in that this is going to happen. I must admit that I am having some anxiety and even some second thoughts but it all sums up to just jitters. Agghh it's almost here guys!! -
On Friday I begin my two week liquid phase before my surgery on the 12th of October. Anyone on my fitness pal and want to be friends? I could use all the support I can get! My MFP name is Astrosfan82

We ended up at chili's - garlic ribeye with skillet mashed potatoes. Yum!

It is good to see that I am not alone in this. Currently I am still sitting at home waiting on hubby to get here. I beat him home from work. I have yet to decide what I want. I think I am just tired from being at work all day and I just really want to stay in and order something... But I know we may not have a chance to do this for a while, so I guess we will be the idiots driving around town asking each other where we want to eat! Lol

Hey there! My user name is astrosfan82. You can add me.. I start my liquid diet on Friday and my surgery is on the 12th:)

Astrosgirl replied to Grace2115's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I know exactly how you are feeling! I start my liquid phase on Friday and I feel like I need to eat all of my favorites before then.. Like I am saying goodbye forever. I know that this is something I can do and I have researched and thought about this for so long.. Two weeks will fly by! (I hope) It's just the final step to getting our lives back! -

Pre-surgery - Emotionally STUCK!
Astrosgirl replied to bhopeful's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Going through the same thing. Surgery date is set for the 12th and while I am excited, I am so afraid that it will not happen.. Or I won't get the results I wanted. Time has stood still for me also and I feel like I am going through the motions of the day but not really feeling or enjoying anything at the moment. It's like I am just waiting for the surgery for me to start living again. It's crazy! It's just a moment and it will pass. This time next year we will barely remember this and hopefully be more settled into the NEW Me. I just hope I don't loose too much of the old me inside:) -
Coordinator just called with a date of October 12th! Also mentioned that there was a hiatal hernia that will be repaired as well... As excited as I am to finally have a date, I am equally as nervous. It's finally happening! Anyone else with a date on the 12th? Or October!

Just left the store and picked up my vitamins and a few protein drinks to try before I order. I also picked up some broth cubes and some soup mix. Definitely did not look like much in my cart but it was almost 50 bucks! My grocery bill will definitely feel the increase over the next few weeks... Also I was like "this will never fill me up".. Lol I'm already feeling sorry for myself.????
