Hi Gai and welcome to the Connecticut bandsters!!! I had my 4th fill today. It took til the third fill before I felt restriction and needed just a little more (.5cc) to get to that real restriction point. WEight loss is slow but steady. It is a tool I am just getting used to. Eating slowly is my biggest challenge. If you have a group of physicians who feel that you are the evaluator of fill needs you are golden. My physician feels after the first 5 weeks of healing that if you do not feel restriction you are to come back in two weeks. That is exactly what I did. This time I went 3 weeks and lost 5 lbs. Good luck to you and keep us poste. Remember that eating those 60 grams of Protein a day does help your hunger. Eating the protein first and making sure you slow down your pace is also important. We all know this but our habits are so embeded or we wouldn't be here!!! Enjoy the great weekend we're getting sharon:)

ms cathy don't beat yourselfup over it....good thatyou got the fill now need to concentrate on utiizing the band for your success. I'm 3 months out and I'm just starting to understand the band. I have my 4th fill tomorrow...I have 5cc in my 10 cc band....feel restriction but need a little more. Almost at my perfect spot. Am able to make good choices at the times I'm hungry and that's a big step for me.... you'll be just fine....tomorrow is always a new day sharon;)

I have had 3 fills since surgery and have a 4th scheduled for tomorrow. I think I'm almost there. I struggled with not feeling anything much after surgery. Lucky to have a group who feels after the first 5 weeks of healing you can come back every 2 weeks until you hit your "spot". I have also read that some physicians put in a fill at surgery time. Everyone has a different size band. I have a 10 cc band and hav e 5 cc's in the band right now. weight loss is very slow and i can eat more than I think I should, like a half a grinder???? sharon:)

You know if we could just "eat the right things" we wouldn't be having the band!! Its not that we make the wrong choices always its that we eat more of the right choices. That could be a problem too!! Do what you think you need to do. You're in control this time, for once we're in control!!! Here's to the bandsters!!! sharon:)

I've been lucky to have a surgeon who believes you control what you need. I've been going back every two weeks for a fill since the first fill. I have gone 3 weeks this time and am scheduled for my 4th this Thursday. They believe that you need to get to your ideal spot to be comfortable with using it as a tool. I've lost two pounds in 3 weeks though so I'm happy about that. I was able to eat an entire half grinder (tuna) the other day and was surprised....so I need a little more restriction. Where is everyone with their restriction? How many cc's in your bands? I have 5 in my 10 cc band so far sharon

Well I was laid off on Wednesday. Hard to believe that anyone in the healthcare field would be laid off. I was the last manager hired and so now the first to go with the lay offs. It's very unsettling....I will have no problem getting another job but I liked the one I was in . So I'm working for the staffing agency I've been involved with since I had gone to graduate school and glad I stayed with them even though I only occassionally worked for them after finishing school. I'm planning to take the summer to regroup working perdiem for $40/hr through the agency in homecare. 32 hours. That will give me some time to enjoy the summer. I'm still toying with getting my own private case management company up and going as there is such a great need for geratric case management. You all probably dont really have time to listen to this but I needed to put it somewhere. I've been doing well with not eating. Only had ice cream (my favorite comfort food) once. I'm calling for a 4th fill this week as I'm still not restricted enough. Everybody is doing great we should be so proud of ourselves. In spite of all the "forks" in the road that everyone has to bear. Have a great day as it is beautiful in Connecticut. sharon:)

what kind of a stupid comment is that for him to make!!! If you were restricted enough you wouldn't be gaining the weight!! Com on I've never heard anything so ridiculous in my life. You need another doctor. My doctor gauges how many fills you get by your weightloss. If I don't lose I get a fill, simple. sharon:thumbdown::sad:

alright Harley lets hear it for big girls!!!! there are some people who love us just the way we are!! My daughter used to say when she was little "your not fat mommy your just fluffy" always remembered that. Now she's expecting her first child!! Anyway...still struggling to not eat more. I have 5cc in my 10 cc band and have some restriction but not enough. I'll wait it out the month this time before going back so I can work on just eating better. I agree with Fenton that doctor is a total jerk. I would post him name all over the placde in the insurance place, the state place and anywhere else you can put it....There are wonderful compassionate doctors out there who really believe in bariatrics and work collaboratively with you which is what it should be all about. I'm so lucky to have a great practice to work with. Happy holiday everyone!! I must say I showed much constraint this weekend having ice cream twice but really limiting my intake at the meals. First memorial day ever that i've done that. sharon;)

hey he's a jerk and just lost some business so he's ot very smart. as a nurse I can tell you plastic guys have a uge ego and are arrogant for the most part. your doing very well there are thousands of people who have lost over a 100 lbs with lapband he's ignorant...don't let him spoil your day and find another fill doctor. I think 200$ for a fill is ridiculous..... sharon:) -

1.I had to go to one group seminar 3 hrs long 2.two support meetings 3.upper GI series 4.bloodwork with 2 hour sugar test 5.cardiology for stress test and echocardiogram 6.sleep study 7.psychiatrist 8.two appts with nutritionist I started the process in October andc had surgery in March. You want your doctor to be thorough because you never know what your risk is, rememberf it is surgery -
good luck I'll be thinking of you!!!. Your on your way to better health. Keep us posted. remember its only the beginning.... :w00t::tongue::tt1:

:w00t::tt1::boom:I have 5cc in my 10 cc band and feel some restriction but still can eat two scrambled eggs for breakfast without a problem. I felt a lot of restriction for the first 3 days then less. I am scheduled for another fill in 3 weeks so Ill see where I am at that point. I don't want to be over restricted. I haven't lost anything this is so discouraging. I hate be obsessive with the scale. It ruins my day. I've lost 23 lbs since pre op...not outstanding...

Peter, I am so sorry. These are the things that are very helpful to us all, thank you so much for sharing with us. I am sure this is an unusual event but nonetheless painful.

Is this normal? Need advice please!

find yourself another doctor!!! If he isn't a fan then he won't be supported or even sympathetic. This is not a good practice. -
:woot: well I now have 5 cc in my 10 cc band and have finally found restriction. I went every two weeks x 2 after getting my first fill of 2 cc's. It is really up to you and how you feel. That is way too much to eat at one sitting so you may need another fill. I don't think there is any "routine" fill and that it is all individual. Do you know how much you have in there already? and how big your band is??? This is a personal choice when working in collaboration with your physician. My weight loss has been only 1.5 lbs in one month so he was pretty aggressive. sharon;)

my goodness cathy that is a fabulous weight loss!!! I've been at a standstill with no weight loss in the last two weeks. Got another fill today now I'm up to 5 cc in my 10 cc band. I'm glad I have an aggressive doctor who feels you need to come back every two weeks until you've attained your "spot". Congratulations!!! Your doing great. I'm glad to hear your BIL is out of ICU. He is on his way to recovery. I used to be an old ED nurse and worked on the trauma unit. They can do fabulous rehab these days. Hang in there...you are in my thoughts. We always want more success than we have...forgetting to appreciate what we've done....You are wonderful...every ounce makes a difference think of where you were this time last year!! sharon:)

:confused_smile:I agree, my doctor also says it is an individual thing. I had a fill two weeks ago now at 3.5 cc in 10 cc band and have another scheduled for this friday. I had a regular dinner tonight and don't feel that full. Roast pork, mashed potatoes, string beans two rolls and two small petit fours...shouldn't be able to eat that much. She's right why suffer, this is supposed to help us control our intake. I still am struggling with eating slower but still I can eat far too much and have my stomach growling all day long.

Had a Fill Today and I have a Question
sharona replied to happytobebanded's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had the same feeling after my last fill. I thought for sure I would have to be unfilled. But two days later I was able to eat a cow and it has continued since then. I am scheduled for another, which is now two weeks, on this Friday. I do feel some restriction but don't believe I should be able to eat 3 scrambled eggs, a peanutbutter sandwich and a banana at one sitting!!!!!:confused2: -
My doctor is also pretty aggressive. After the first 5 weeks of healing I am going back every two weeks for fills if I need it. My third is this Friday. I still don't feel that restricted. sharon:)

Restriction and then none? This happen to anyone?

Had a Fill Today and I have a Question
sharona replied to happytobebanded's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I try to start the day with eggs and then a Protein (meat, tuna etc) at lunch with a salad. I am hungry within a few hours then have a Protein Drink or bar....I am seeing the doctor again next week because he said that if it wasn't enough come back in a few weeks which I am. Hopefully the next one will be enough. I had 2 cc first time and he took it out last time but said there was only 1.5 in there, which isn't unusual with the first (with bubbles, air etc.) he then put in 3.5 cc. Very very restricted for two days then boom could eat a horse. I've had a protein drink today, 6 graham crackers, an egg salad sandwich and still hungry. I do drink lots during the day usually more than 64 ounces that I have with me at all times, spenda in iced green tea with cherry bing tea mixed with it. frustrating. I've gained 1.5 lbs back from what I had lost at last weigh in last week  sharon:cursing: -
Chica do you feel restricton? Glad to see someone else with a 10cc band and more fills. I have had two fills with a total now of 3.5 but don't feel much...I have another scheduled this coming Friday which will be two weeks since the last!!! I can eat far too much sharon:)
