Once a nurse always a nurse (hahahahaha).....glad your doing better. With the summer here I'm always worried about dehydration, it can come faster than we think......

BNL you know we would all like to see them as it will give us motivation also. Don't worry about Fenton lord knows he's probably seen more than the rest of us would like to even imagine (and I worked in a trauma center for years!!) I haven't had the nerve to take a picture but I am now thinking about it.... good for you.... Rugman Be careful, it is very easy to get dehydrated especially in the summer. It is wonderful to be tight but you do need nourishment. Try to make sure you get at least your 60 grams of Protein in a day. Good luck to you... sharon;)

Hi Jill My BMI was 43 and I had osteoarthritis and sleep apnea. BC is very good about their standards. They criteris is 40 BMI with some issues (like HTN/diabetes/sleepapnea/arthritis) or 35 BMI with more serious issues. If your over 50 you probably have osteoarthritis as most people do and my guess is you also have sleep apnea which your surgeon should be sending you for a sleep study. good luck sharon;)

Annie, I'm a short hair kind girl and I love it love it love it...looks very natural I wouldn't change a thing!!! sharon;)

Kerri so sorry to hear about your Nana...what great memories though you have of her and how wonderful you were able to be with her. Give yourself some space for some bad food choices you may make...this is all a journey for us. I didn't think I was an emotional eater yet when I was laid off I realized I was eating more and wanting things I hadn't eaten in a long tim. We are all learning new ways.

congratulations!!! Great accomplishments I think I've finally found my "sweet spot" with this last fill. Cannot eat more than 1/4 cup and am full for hours. It is truly a great feeling. Hope to have better success with greater weight loss. My goal is to be in onederland by the end of August, I think I can do it!!! Fenton looking for that century mark....come on we're counting on you....I'm so proud of everyone!!!

Christine, I feel your pain, chew chew chew is so hard to do. That is my biggest challenge. When it happens it is just a reminder to us all we can't do that anymore (thank goodness) Fenton and Harley...yes logging in every day is a great idea. Even days that I wasn't really "good" I felt better documenting because the damage wasn't as bad as I made it out to be. I really try to document every day. It also breaks down those carbs/fats/proteins (as you probably know) as I am always concerned with getting enough Proteins. I went for my 5th fill yesterday and can honestly say I am where I want to be. I am full...really full with small amounts of food. No cravings and feel much more in control. I now have lost 30 lbs..still slow but steady. Fenton...as soon as I finish the book I'm reading I can't wait to get into your's....and soon you will be hitting your 100 mark...that is so exciting...how you do it without a fill is amazing. Are you fearful of the fills or just don't want them. I think's its unusual that people don'e get fills.... Stay in air conditioning today sharon:)

I also eat far too fast, a bad habit developed as an ER nurse....just inhale when you can. I still struggle with slowing down and it is a hard habit to lose.....
-
I wish we did have a Jamba juice in Connecticut but we don't. At least I don't think so. I love going to California to visit my sister as they are on just about every other corner. Their drinks are amazing.

I don't know whether to congratulate you or just say "I feel your pain"!!! It is the worst...God's way of say..whoah...slow down there. Its when it happens and you're not near a bathroom...OMG. I went to the mall and had rice and chicken and it got stuck...had to literally run to the bathroom to PB...thank goodness it doesn't happen often...You're there!!! and yes dried fruit....did you really think that was ok??? (hahahahaha) I've been wanting to use this smiley for a long time....

Cathy you're not alone!!! I do the same thing. I feel compelled to start up a conversation with someone and eventually get to the lapband discussion when their overweight....I am finding that a surprising number of overweight people don't think it should be a choice. A lot of them want to know what you can't eat!!! When I mention the soda thing many are turned off. As for chocolate....well...do I dare say I am NOT a chocolate fan...sorry. I do love ice cream though..and have resorted to the skinny cow sandwiches and they have relieved my craving. I also don't like chips or the like so that's a good thing. As for the weight loss....only a few have mentioned. I saw someone the other day I hadn't seen in a while and they said "whats different with you?" I too get "oh my goodness you don't need to lose a 100 lbs...."... oh yes I do!! Anyway...I have my 5th fill on Wednesday and am still looking for the perfect spot. I have better control and make better choices because I am less hungry but its still slowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww I am unmotivated to exercise though....need to get my "butt" going...
-
This is great to hear, I feel like there is something wrong with me with having 5.5 cc in a 10 cc band and have another appt on wednesday for my 5th fill. I have some restriction but not enough. I can eat a whole hamburger and don't think I should be able to...thank you for the comfort that i'm not crazy
-
i don't get why some doctors are so controlling about how much they put in your band...its not their body.... 0.5 cc is nothing..if you don't feel restriction get yourself back there and ask for more...this is'nt about them its all about you now...geeze....

:waytogo:I agree with everyone on this. I am a nurse and have seen some pretty nasty doctors and nurses and they get away with it. I would file a complaint, he is unprofessional at best and certainly his records should be accurately documenting xactly how many time you've been there andhow many fills you have had. And....you are absolutely right what the hell business of his how many fills you have had??? My physician is wonderful, he completely trusts your own judgement on how you feel and how you are eating to decide on a fill. I had 4 fills since surgery and will be going for another on Wednesday. Don't let this eat you up. I would find another doctor, sign the paperwork to transfer your records and file a complaint. He's just a plain asshole... the world is full of them!!!
-
I use www.mydailyplate.com which also helps with calorie count and exercise tallying. I find that I am better in control while tracking.....good luck
-
I have lost 28 lbs so far some days 30 lbs....I have my 5th fill on Wednesday. I'm still struggling but getting better restriction with each fill. everyone is doing fabulous....

find another surgeon, I never wait more than 5-10 minutes for my appointments and it is inapproriate for the staff to make that comment to you. Just because he's a surgeon doesn't mean his office time cannot be scheduled appropriately. Sometimes there could be an emergency but not often. Good luck, don't despair there are lots of good docs out there
-
No he is not pulling your chain....this is elective surgery and no one will touch you as long as your smoking. They will go as far as taking nicotine levels to check up on you...so do yourself and quit. When I smoked many many years ago I looked at it like this....I will have to quit some day, either by choice or not by choice. It will catch you....
-
and don't forgret those who have more to lose will lost faster at the beginning.....that is a fact jack....
-
whoever suggested the daily plate for tracking your calories...thank you..it is so easy and it is amazing how the calories add up. Now that I'm doing this I am much mor cognizant to what my choices are..... Pat I'm also slow on the weight loss and have been very "good" for lack of a better word....hang in there as long as it goes down I've decided I don't really care how slow it is.... Fenton, I Love the family guy and also am a fan of the office....which for anyone who has worked in an office can get much more enjoyment out of it....I love the baby in famiy guy.....and 30 rock is bizarre but very very funny....
-
Welcome back Harley thank goodness your back to bring some control to this unruly group!!!:biggrin: congratulations on a grat vacation, remember we are never "bad" we just make poor choices some times...
-
I tried it but the tomato part of it bothered my stomach...it gave me indigestion. So seehow it goes. Its full of Protein and good for you. sharon;)

HI Dalene You shouldn't have a problem with BC Anthem, I also have them. Although it may be different from state to state I haven't sen anyone on this blog who was refused with blue cross.....unless you have an exclusion. If you called them prior to going to physician's office they would have told you that you had the exclusion....good luck and welcome to our world.
-
congratulations!!! you've worked hard now enjoy....before you know it you'll be down another 50 lbs!!! I can't wait..... sharon
