Congratulations Fenton! I am a nurse and was an ED nurse for years so I may find your book very interesting!!! I'm at a standstill :tongue_smilie: and don't really feel much of a difference with my first fill last week of 2.5 cc's in my 10 cc band. I have another appt in 4 weeks... Feel like I could eat much more than I do. Started exercising at the gym which feels pretty good. My goal is to go 5 times per week for treadmill and weights. Its a challenge. I too put away my size 20 away...yeah!!! and Have gtten into shirts and pants I couldn't get into last year so that's exciting The weather has improved as does how we feel. Here's to spring!!!!

I am doing ok. I was filled one week ago and really don't feel too much of a difference. I did for the first day or two. I'm hungry at times with my stomach growling. I started exercising at the gym so I hope it helps. The scale is slow slow slowwwwwwwwww to move.....disappointing. I'm going to try to stay off of it for a week:sneaky:... so lets see if I can do it.... If it doesn't get a little better I will push my next appt (5/24) a little sooner. :tongue_smilie:

If all of your friends are vomiting there is a reason for that because its not the norm. You vomit if you eat too much or if your band is too tight. It is a tool to help yout hrough your jouney to healthy. You remain in control of your food intake and changing your relationship with food. It helps you make the right decisions about food because your not hungry. If your not hungry you can make the right choices. The decision is ultimately yours but complications are limited and you can can always get it removed if you don't like it. I haven't seen anyone on these blogs talk about not like it. Just take a deep breath and have a good discussion with your physician. This is all about YOU...

Am I Too Old For Banding Opp
sharona replied to damienne's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm not sure where you got that idea from!!.. Yes people over 60 should be able to get the band if they don't have lots of other co morbidities. Remember this is to improve your health. sharon -
I'm sorry you had that experience. I had my fill today also 2.5 cc in my 10 cc band. It went smoothly. I don't think what you went through is the "norm". I too am looking for better restriction. Although I did lose 4 lbs since last visit 3 weeks ago so I'm happy. My next fill is May 22nd.

Look there are some doctors who don't even require a preop diet. You'll be fine. Liquids tend to do that with everyone, well because their liquids. Talk to the doctor, your almost there. Everyone's weight loss is individual. I only lost 8 lbs preop. It all depends on how much weight you have to lose and your body type. Don't beat yourself up over this. Your journey has just begun. There are difficulties at all stages. Banding isn't a miracle its a process that we all need to embrace and move forward. Hang in there..... sharon:)

How did YOU do staying on plan today?
sharona replied to kathystrick's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
we ALLLL did that...you are so close....you are still in your "last meal" momentum. I gained 20 lbs from the time I started the process in October to getting banded on 3/12. You'll do just fine....tomorrow is another day. Don't cry about what you can't change!!!! you just make it worst sharon;) -
where do you get a one ounce pork chop? sharon
-
Yes I find wearing a bra aggravates it during the day as the band is just above the incision sites. If I twist to my left I feel a lot of pulling on the right side. I see the doctor tomorrow for my first fill. Hooray!!! sharon:)
-
where do you journal your foods? I'd love to do that. I think I'm taking in too many calories. sharon:)
-
thanks I will try it this week. I get my first fill on Friday.... sharon:)

remember hunger is our enemy.....I too am having difficulty getting enough Protein each day. I'm starting to get growling and am hungry at times. Bought Protein Bars which are helping. Made a "paste" out of chicken, fatfree miracle whip, cranberry sauce (one tablespoon) salt pepper and onions. Very good to dip saltines into and fills you up quickly. I started a journal but haven't kept it up...been so tired lately. sharon

I never thought about the acidity of the coffee and a smaller pouch. Good point. I limit it to one a day and sometimes none. SODA!!! there is no point to soda at all...I used to drink it all the time and have complete4ly given it up and feel better. Less joint pain. Isn't that funny? Good luck veryone....we're still plugging along sharon
-
I wasn't told to give up coffe either. I have one cup a day in the morning. It is a appetite stimulator though that may be his reasoning. You should ask him...I don't think it has anything to do with streching out your stomach sharon:)
-
I hear you I gained 20 lbs from summer to March...with my last meal syndrome.... we all do it sharon;)
-
I would definitely call the doctor and get it checked shouldn't have anything coming from it  sharon
-
No you are human like the rest of us. We all have slumps whether its pre op or post op. Just pick yourself up and move on....I lost 8 lbs post op and was told by the surgeon that my live looked great and thanked me for shrinking it down as it made surgery much easier on them. That's really what its all about working together. Hang in there its only just begun. sharon;)
-
amen to FEnton.....and the burrito I had 10 days post op!!! I know I know!!!! and I'm fine.....I was scared but went past that and just started complying...my first fill is 4/16...hey we're human....
-

Would It Kill Me....
sharona replied to wickman2617's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
the fact that I am a nurse only validates the fact that I have a clearer understanding of the pathophysiology of the body as well the fact that physicians heed to their own opinions and experiences as to what is right or wrong. I feel patients should understand that what their physician says is what they should go by. It is "ok" that they also realize that other physicians do things different. That doesn't make their doctor right or wrong. The question here was what our physicians' were having us do. We answered. So we shouldn't be penalized for providing that information. This really should be the end of this as we have beat it to death. sharon:)
