Hi everyone! I haven't been on here for awhile! I hope everyone finds this website as usfl as I did and still do! its been almost 15 months since my Surgery. My starting weight was 465 lbs and as of this morning I am down to 222lbs exactly that's a 243 weight loss total. I hit a stall for Weeks!! so I started walking more and added more food to my diet (healthy food of course) once I started that the weight started coming off again (PHHHEW) I am 42 lbs away from my original goal weight and let me tell you.. THIS FEELS AMAZING!!!! my life has completely changed for the better.. im more active and im living the life I always wanted for me and my daughter if anyone is deciding to get this surgery I will always tell you GO FOR IT!!! I had fears but the happiness of feeling free and "normal" outweighs that fear I had before deciding to have this surgery. it literally saved my life! good luck to those who are starting their journey and keep it up! I will always say this; This was the best decision I ever made and I do not regret anything!!!!!!

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE! just a little message to throw out there because im excited!!! as of this morning I am down 216 pounds from 465 to 249 in almost a year AMAZES ME! I hit a stall for a month and stayed at 277... I really thought my weight loss ended lol but I changed things around and I started to lose again! the stall sucked!! it made me feel awful for some reason..then my co workers reminded me how far I've come already. this surgery wasn't an easy way out, it still takes a lot of work mentally and physically to get to where we want to be! so for those of u who are at a stall just remember its temporary and don't beat yourself up. I've got 50 more pounds to lose to reach my goal of being under 200lbs. (I never ever thought I could say that) and 69 pounds to get to my drs goal of 180. im almost there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This-is-my-journey replied to This-is-my-journey's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Thanks Everyone!! I was eating the same thing over and over again. I just added more veggies.. and protein.. protein protein protein! I was lacking it for a little bit. I found myself drinking a lot of sugared drinks, YUCK! that's one road I don't want to go down again!!! and finally I added more walking. I don't do gyms.. I just walk and do as much as I can with my toddler I hope you find a way to break the stall but that stall does suck!!! I hit it 2 times and both lasted almost a month good luck to u and good luck to everyone! people who haven't had this surgery always assume this is the easy way but it surely isn't, still takes a lot of work. mentally and physically! its a challenge I accepted and Im here for the long run -

Thanks Everyone What helped me along the way is therapy believe it or not! I knew I had a problem with food and I started seeing a therapist few months before surgery. she's helped me a lot ..her and my dietician. I have had a great team and support. I still have my bad days but my good days always outweigh the bad also this site, its a big help! -
Do you find that vomiting has become part of your post VSG life?
This-is-my-journey replied to FamilyGuyNJ's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have vomited a few times since my surgery.. it was all due to drinking or eating too fast or if I drank water too soon after eating.. its still a learning phase for me. but ive got it pretty much under control now good luck to u -
Hair loss
This-is-my-journey replied to Aaaaaa1234's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My hair loss started at about 3-4 months post op. I am almost at 8 months post op and it finally started slowing down. didn't mtter what I did.. I bought the expensive shampoos. I took my vitamins and biotin... I cut it..i avoided washing it for a couple days. its very frustrating but it is part of my journey. I see lil baby hairs growing back so its a good sign lol just try to keep positive..its temporary and soon you'll have ur beautiful hair back -
Good morning everyone! I just wanted to share my excitement this morning... I hit a stall that lasted 2 weeks... I finally broke out of it and starting dropping weight again.. as of this morning I am down 154lbs!! My first goal was to lose 50lbs then 100 then 150 next is 200.. I'll admit the stall was a drag but man am I ever grateful for this surgery.. I wouldn't have been able to lose this much on my own ever.. I still have ways to go but it's the best feeling ever. Yes I hate the drooping skin but I love not being 465lbs!!! If your feeling bad or hit a stall don't worry so much..it's temporary

Does anyone regret having surgery?
This-is-my-journey replied to katragina's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I never regretted it..it's the best decision I ever made im down 139 lbs in 5 months things will get better before you know it -
I started losing more hair a few weeks ago and its making me real self conscious I notice the thinning. my friend who had gastric bypass said she was losing hair for up to 10 months. if that's the case I wont have much hair in 6 months lol I just bought a new shampoo and conditioner called viviscal. I was also thinking about taking prenatal Vitamins as well because my hair was great when I was taking those during my pregnancy... I upped my Protein intake and im just praying something helps to slow it down... that's my only complaint about my journey
