I met with my surgeon on Tuesday; it was a great appointment and my surgery is scheduled for November 9th! I really like him, he answered all of my questions before I could even ask them. He's a Center of Excellence surgeon and the clinic is a Center of Excellence clinic (which I don't think I new). He has a terrific bedside manner too. He has had no deaths and one leak in 2007. Most of my tests were completed on Tuesday after my appointment. I meet with internist and NUT toward the end of the month, then a pre-surgery appointment, and surgery in early November. It'll be here before I know it. Any other November surgery dates scheduled??

I have been excited about having WLS since I made the decision about a month ago. My consultation was original scheduled for mid-September and it was moved up to next week. I am still on schedule for surgery in November. I have been reading almost everything I can get my hands on about WLS including these boards. I have been looking at a lot of before and after photos on Instagram which help give me a lot of hope and inspiration. This morning, I woke up even more excited about how I know my life will change, including being able to tie my shoes to buying normal-sized clothes. It hit me today that I'm even excited about dating and having sex again. There, I wrote it. YES, I'm excited about dating and having sex again!!! November can't come soon enough!

Aetna Managed Choice Open Access
SunflowerGal replied to GettingSleeved's topic in Insurance & Financing
I have great insurance through work, yet my WLS is not covered by my plan; I am a cash-pay patient. My insurance is covering a lot of the pre-op tests but will not cover the surgery itself. There are many financing programs available through doctor's offices; if you choose a surgeon, you may want to ask him/her about financing options. Another potential consideration is a low-interest credit card. And, you may want to look into surgery in Mexico, it may also be an option for you. Good luck! -
Me too! It was scheduled before I even thought of WLS. I breathed into a tube, was out within seconds, and then awake again before I knew it. No complications. I arrived at 9:00 am and left not more than 2 hours later. Good luck, I'm sure you'll be fine!

Another thing I like to do is look at the before and after photos on Instagram (#wls #wlscommunity #wlsfamily). BIG source of inspiration!

Concerned about excess skin
SunflowerGal replied to tssiemer's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think about excess skin, however, I'm going to focus on losing the weight first. Then I'll focus on excess skin. First things first (for me)! -

The New Program in OC
SunflowerGal replied to Joymarie333's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@Joymarie333 I have my consult with them in a couple of weeks! One of my doctors referred me to them. I do not know anybody who has personally gone there, but I did see on a thread that an individual has heard a lot of good things about the doctors (her doctors also referred her here). How did you hear about them and have you heard anything about the program? -
@@SunflowerGal I'm the same way! I lost about 90 lbs and yep... I got a lift and implants them gained that back PLUS! They still look awesome. I'm only 2 weeks post op from a revision but I'm worried! THAT was NOT a fun surgery. It's been about ten years for me as well soooo I know some type of plastics will be in my future. So glad I'm not the only who did this! @ NO! You're not the only one who has done that... while mine don't look as good as they looked 10 years ago, they still look decent! My surgery was very easy -- my sister was with me for a week and I didn't have to lift an arm. Virtually no pain either. I am still early in this game so I don't know about plastics... but, as mentioned, I'd definitely consider a re-lift!!

I lost about 90 pounds 10 years ago and practically ran to the plastic surgeon to have a breast reduction and lift. It was the BEST thing I ever did for myself (besides lose the weight). They looked absolutely BEAUTIFUL until I gained all of my weight back and more (they still look okay!). When I lose the weight again, I'd definitely consider having them re-lifted!

Curse you, Diet Coke!
SunflowerGal replied to kmd0235's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hope my doctor does not eliminate coffee from my diet... uggggghhhh!!! I like a Diet Coke on a rare occasion too. I'll find out during my upcoming consult! -
Do you weigh yourself everyday? Bad/good?
SunflowerGal replied to wagyu's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I do not weigh every day; I give way too much power to the number that appears on the scale which has an effect on my self worth. After surgery, I know I'll be excited, but I will continue to try and NOT weigh myself very often. -
I use HMR shakes and LOVE them. I lost almost 90 pounds about 10 years ago on the HMR program and still use the shakes today. They're FULL of protein! Hopefully I'll get to use them after my surgery.

I agree! For the life of me, I could not figure out why I was nearly falling asleep at work every afternoon. It finally dawned on my doctor that I most likely had sleep apnea. I couldn't do the test fast enough to get my CPAP. It CHANGED MY LIFE -- for the better. I cannot go to sleep with out my CPAP and bite guard. Yes, a living doll at night. I even too my CPAP to Europe for 3 weeks last year. Once you get though the tests and get your machine, your life will be changed!

Consultation this Monday
SunflowerGal replied to dmc7399's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@dmc7399 I am also just starting out. I have been heavy since junior high and have missed out on a lot during my life due to my weight. I was in the right place at the right time to hear a colleague talk about her WLS. I received a referral from my doctor and my consult is in early September. I'm cash pay and hoping to have surgery in November. I look forward to hearing about your journey and success! -
