I'm an introvert. I have never in my life joined a forum before...but your stories gave me the courage.
I have had a love affair with food my whole life. I was "lucky" for the longest time in that although I ate enormous amounts of food I did not gain weight. It never occured to me that my eating habits were not "normal". In my early thirties I started to gain weight. I had the four kiddos and gained 50 to 70 pounds with each pregnancy. Then I was diagnosed with endometriosis and lost an ovary. I have been on hormone treatment ever since and my weight sky rocketed! I have been on every diet and diet pill out there. I am GREAT at losing 20 pounds. Then, I am even GREATER at gaining it ALL back plus TEN!
I have thought about weight loss surgery for about three years. This year at my physical some of my labs came back not so great: pre-diabetic, pre-hypertensive, and cholesterol in the 400's. My weight is at an all time high of 240 lbs.
When I started reading the forum, I read so many times that the "only regret was not having WLS sooner". I have been reading the forum for months now. I feel like with your help I was able to make an informed decision.
I am fully committed to the eating part of WLS, but still struggling with excercise. I worry that I will be one of the 20% that gains weight back because I am the worst excerciser on the planet!
I love reading everyone's stories. I am thankful for all the support I know I am now opening myself up too.
