  1. I'm five days out and I'm allowed to drink coffee. I'm just wondering if I could have a little 1/2 and 1/2. In the hospital they gave me fat free 1/2 and 1/2. I guess I'll go out and get some today.
  2. Audrician. Thank you for sharing with me your experience with spicy food. Can anyone else tolerate spicy foods?

    Diets Questions/Concerns

Heavyjay, I feel the same way. I was banded on the 28th. I called my dr's office today to see if I can begin a little soft foods and they said "no". I have to be on full liquids (shakes) for 2 weeks. I am so sick of shakes. I want anything that's not sweet like mashed potatoes, refried beans, soup, etc. I see that there's a lot of people who go to soft foods after one week but I'll try to follow the dr's orders. He said Mother's day, I could start having really soft foods. I don't know if I could wait that long.

    Banded on 4/28/08

Hi everyone. I was banded on the 28th also and I too am having guilt about not being able to do this on my own. Right now my kids are making popcorn and it smells sooo good. I'm feeling pretty good though- not a lot of pain but I hungry and so sick of sweet shakes. I want anything that's not sweet
  5. I was just banded on April 28 and will see the nutritionist in about a week but I was wondering... are bandsters allowed to eat corn on the cob? Even if it's just a little, I'd be happy.

I had my surgery by Dr. Oliak just 5 days ago. I feel great. His staff has been really supportive also.

    Lump in throat

Cellphoneman, I'm still having these pains in my chest to my throat. They last for about 10 seconds and then disappear, especially when I sit up. Let us know how what your doctor said.
  9. How are you April 28th bandsters doing? This is our 4th day. I'm feeling pretty good but I get this pain in my chest especially when I sit up. When can you start eating mushies?
  10. This website is moving really slow. Does anyone know who to contact? I think his name is Alex. Thanks!
  11. You guys are lucky that you start mushies after 1 week. I have to be on full liquids for 2 weeks but I'm ready for some cottage cheese or anything that doesn't taste sweet.

    Lump in throat

Cellphoneman, I'm having the same problem. I was banded 4/28. Does it disapear after about 10 seconds?
  13. I posted this somewhere else too but does anyone out there know who we could contact to tell about this web site being so slow today? Someone e mailed me a while ago with a guy named Alex who is supposed to fix these problems but I can't find that email.

    Thinking of Cancelling Surgery!!!

Congratulations Ceinman. I was banded on April 28 and feeling pretty good except for a pain that comes and goes in my chest area. Dr. says it's probably gas.
  15. Newjem, I was banded by Dr. Oliak on 4/28-just 2 days ago. Dr. Oliak and his staff have been great. I have no complaints. They've always answered my questions quickly when I call. I would highly recommend Dr. Oliak. Oh. My insurance had sent me to a different dr. but I had heard great things about Dr. Oliak and I asked to change to him. The insurance (Blue Cross) said that it was alright since Dr. Oliak works at a Bariatric Center of Excellence. Good luck and let me know what you decide.
  16. I was banded on April 28th and feeling pretty good. I am having pains in my chest area though. They're from my chest area to my throat. The doctor says it's probably gas. It's especially bad when I sit up. Does anyone else have this?
  17. My doctor does not have me on any kind of a pre-op diet. Nothing. Nada. I'll be on liquids the day before surgery after 3:00 pm. I keep reading about people who are on a week and 2 weeks of liquids only before surgery. Could it be because my BMI is not extremely high? It's 39. Am I going to be OK for surgery???

    day 4 post-op

i am having the same problem. The pain is from my chest area up to my throat. It mostly happens when I sit up after laying down. It lasts for about 10 seconds and then disappears. Thanks for all your advice.
  19. Is something wrong with Lapbandtalk tonight? Mine is moving really slooooow.
  20. I know this is a weird question but my doctor's office gave me these spongey things and told me to clean myself in the shower the night before surgery. I jut can't remember how to use them. She said to use one to clean all over but it's the second one that I can't remember. Is it only for my stomach area? Did anyone else have to do this and if so, please help me out here.

    Helllllp Please!!!

lookin, I'm being banded tomorrow and really feel for you. From what i'm hearing from a lot of people, once you can start eating real food, things start to look a lot better. If you still feel this way tomorrow, call your dr. I wish I was almost a week out like you. Hang in there and please keep us posted.
  22. I'm being banded on Monday and am very nervous, not about the surgery but about the new lifestyle. I keep reading posts from people who are so excited and are counting down the days until surgery. Why don't I feel that way? I've been battling my weight all of my adult years. I've been on every diet, lost weight and then regained all of it back plus some. But my life is pretty good now except for my weight. I,m jsut so scared about PBing, sliming, food getting stuck, gas, etc. Do I really want to live like that? Does anyone have any words of encouragement?
  23. Wow. I just posted about this same thing earlier today. I'll be banded on April 28th and am so nervous about the new lifestyle. I'm afraid of PBing, getting food stuck, sliming, etc. Let's keep in touch afterwards and encourage each other. Good luck.
  24. Let's come back to this thread when we're up to it after we are banded. I'd love to encourage each other. Good luck to all of you and keep each other in your prayers.
