~2 Week Liquid Diet~
Susan66 replied to CurvyCooper's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You'll get through it just as the rest of us did. You'll do it a fews days and probably get used to it & it will all be good. This is what you'll have to do for a period of time post op anyway so you might as well get used to it. I'm about 8 weeks post op, and don't mind the days where I choose to do liquids for more than one meal. Honestly sometimes it's just easier that way. Good luck to you. -
Good luck Chris. Here's to a healthy new you.

I don't consider WLS surgery to be cheating to attain significant weight loss. With all we had to go through to get approved, the commitment to follow the rules of WLS, and the life after, this is in NO way cheating. This tool we now have allows us to do what's needed but we still have to be accountable.

Anyone drink Shakeology?
Susan66 replied to thinningdiva's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't think your Bariatric Program would approve of the nutrient/carb/sugar values in Shakeology. How are you doing with it during pre-surgery diet, are you losing weight with it? -
2 days postop... How did you feel?
Susan66 replied to BrightEyes42's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can't imagine eating anything puréed. My Dr allows his patients to take small bites and chew to the point of a puréed consistency. Hang in there, once you can move on past the liquids only phase it does get better. -
Having the same issue & benefiber wasn't helping. What has helped very much is Smooth Move tea and it taste good to. I drink a cup every other night.

I have NOT Regretted my WLS for a Single Moment
Susan66 replied to JupiterinVirgo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am right there with you all. Not one day have I thought "Why did I do this"? I feel so much better, look better & know that I have extended my life by doing this. I just returned from a 10 day vacation. Went on a cruise & was surrounded by food 24/7. I managed to stay on track with little effort. Life is good and I'm happy to be on this ride with you all. ???? -
Hopefully not so stupid question from someone just beginning research
Susan66 replied to You can do this Sue!'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I totally agree with you. -
I totally understand and when the negativity comes from those we least expect it from, it somehow hurts worse. I now realize that most of these people want the surgery for themselves, but just don't have the nerve, motivation & commitment to pursue the surgery like we do/did. I didn't tell to many others after hearing those rude comments. However, after I had the surgery I decided I wasn't hiding it & I would be ready to respond to any comments that were rude or inconsiderate. Best of luck to you in your new weight loss journey.

Maybe a silly question....
Susan66 replied to hollybower's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My Dr did not require me to remove my acrylic from my nails. I also asked if my polish needed to be removed from toes, thinking if he couldn't see my finger nail beds, he would want to see my toes. The answer was also no. -
Congrats

I need a bari buddy!
Susan66 replied to rosebud_char's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

Low BMI slow losing encouragement welcome!
Susan66 replied to itstimealready's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a kind of low BMI (40) to begin with. Lost fast for two weeks then stalled for 3 weeks. Then one day I woke up and started to lose again. Stay focused & continue with a positive attitude & the scale will again move. I'm 7 weeks post op and at the moment on a cruise on Mexico. Im finding it easier than I thought to sit at meals with all the different food choices. Stay positive. -
I'm very happy to see this question shared today. Leaving for a cruise tomorrow & I was debating whether to have a glass or two of wine or not. The fact that some say it could hurt & the possible dumping makes me say "I'll pass". Thank you everyone.

ugh, these protein shakes make me gag
Susan66 replied to Mrs_O's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Those are two of the flavors I haven't tried yet. I will get right on it. Carribbean cooler and crystal sky weren't so great. Can't remember the 3rd one I tried as it was a while back. Off to try those and also some crystal light in a shake. Maybe that will help!!! If I had tried the Grape Syntrax first I probably would not have tried another flavor. ???? -
Anybody else have a huge dog that loves them so much its painful?
Susan66 replied to MIMISAN's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I honestly think they sense that we are delicate when we come home from surgery. I have Bernese Mountain Dogs & they knew to be careful around me. -
Hair loss...does it ever come back?
Susan66 replied to Jengarcia055's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with JamieLogical on the anesthesia point. I lost hair after a very long surgery in 2010 (5 hours) I lost quite a bit but it came back fine with no issues. If it's like that again I'm not too worried about losing some again. -
Is it really worth it?
Susan66 replied to BrightEyes42's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
6 weeks post op and have not once doubted my decision. ???? -
ugh, these protein shakes make me gag
Susan66 replied to Mrs_O's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mrs_O, Have you tried Syntrax Fuzzy Navel or Strawberry Kiwi? I'm 7 weeks post op and those are the only 2 I can tolerate. The Fuzzy Navel is like a light version of OJ and the Strawberry Kiwi is like fruit punch. Neither is thick when mixed with water. -
Is laparoscopic surgery possible if someone had other abdominal surgery procedures in the past?
Susan66 replied to marioclark's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
In 2010 I had a laparoscopic abdominal surgery and also in 2015. No problems here. -
I was sleeved 12/10 and have been in a stall for 3 weeks. I understand your frustration. However, I did see my surgeon last Friday & he is not at all concerned. He says this is normal, so has many other members of this group. He says to just ride it out & continue doing what I am doing. I trust in him, this is his profession, he sees patients like us everyday. Hang in there and we will get through this.

I'm sorry you experienced this terrible treatment. Im not sure I would be going back to him if it were me. I probably would have waited for him to finish & then told him to kiss my a$$ & left.

SO ANGRY I COULD SPIT FIRE!

Does acid reflux feel different?
Susan66 replied to kinkymoo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was having something very similar and just this past Monday my primary Dr switched my PPI to Protonix. This new med has pretty much wiped out any acid issues I was having. -
