    Tightness in the morning????

Hello...my doctor told me that your cortisol levels are higher in the morning. It's better to wait about 4 hours before you eat unless you have hot tea or coffee. A hot liquid can help loosen your band a bit. I hope this helps!
  2. Hey girl...I hope all is well! Write soon!

    Unhappy

Let me just tell you that you are not alone, but it does get better. More than anything, this is a mental adjustment. I still get those feelings about not being able to eat what everyone else can. You have to take it one step at a time. Do you have a support group you can go to? Get on the chat here. This website has been my saving grace. You can do this!
  4. Hey Girl, I put that picture you made me as my profile picture. Thanks so much for that. I enjoy chatting with you!

need some support/help/kick in the butt

You are preaching to the chior. I think we all feel like that once in a while. You are only human. You can't change what you have done and thinking about what you could do to get to your goal is hard too. You have to take each day as it comes. Baby steps! You can't beat yourself up. We all got here because we were addicted to food. Rome wasn't built in a day. We are here for you!
  6. Hey girl, thanks for the friend invite. I need all of the help I can get. You look great! It was fun talking to you today.

A difficult port to access? Grrrr.

Hey...every fill for me, my port has been harder to get to due to scar tissue. If they are going to do ultrasound be happy...that will take less pokes. At one point, I got poked about 8 times. It is not that bad. I don't think it is that painful. I'm down 70lbs so each poke is worth it. Good luck!
  8. I'm so glad you talked to someone. I hope you feel better. Let us know how you are doing. Take care!

I am begging everyone and anyone to help!

Right after you are banded, you don't get much restriction and it is easy to go back to your old ways. My dr. said not to eat 30 minutes before or after you eat. Is there any way you can suck on a piece of candy. Since it's hot...maybe ice chips. It helped me train myself to not drink before and after meals. Good Luck...I hope this might help.
  10. I'm so sorry you are experiencing this. Unfortunately, I have experienced this myself-not once but twice. First, have you called your doctor? If not, you need to do this; however, with it being a holiday weekend, you might need to go to the ER. It sounds like you need a slight unfill. Many times, when you throw up, it causes your stoma to become irritated and swollen. It's a never ending cycle. You throw up, you become swollen, causing more restriction, causing you to throw up. This experience should not be a painful one. Good luck and call the doctor.
  11. Hi, Two weeks ago, I was in for a fill. I asked the dr. if I could take Alli w/ the lapband. He told me that we shouldn't do both. He said he was worried that too many things would pass through that your body needs. I hope this helps.

Wow...to those of us new to the band, you are an inspiration. Great for you staying at your goal. Thanks for sharing your story.

    Diet Pills & the Band

That is so funny you asked. I had a fill a week ago and I asked if I could take Alli. He said no. With the band, he said the pouch is a bit more sensitive. He also said that since you are eating less, you don't need to flush everything out. I hope this helps!

    how long for BCBS approval?

Hi, I have BCBS in Texas. It took 4 days for my approval. My friend has the same insurance and I think it took a week for approval. It's well worth the wait. Good Luck!
  15. Gail,

Please forgive me...I just saw your visitor message. I would love to be a support. There is a Walk from Obesity in September that I'd like to do if you are interested, but I think it's in Fort Worth. I have 2 kids (my first was stillborn at full term). Please feel free to e-mail me at brittnbeth@verizon.net. Again, sorry for this late response.

  16. Well, there are so many out there. I really love the Isopure chocolate and vanilla powder. I mix them with fruit, etc. I've tried the Unflavored Unjury and wasn't really impressed. Carnation instant breakfast is great. The best thing you can buy to help you with your purees and shakes is a hand held blender. Good Luck!

    Failed!!!!

I'm so sorry about your experience with the gastric band. For me, getting the LapBand was the best decision I have ever made. I'm no longer on diabetes medicine and I feel great. Good luck to you in the future.

AT LAST!! I no longer have 100lb to lose!

That is a great accomplishment. Congrats! That is one milestone I forgot to add into my list of milestones. Thanks for opening my eyes to that. That is so wonderful. Keep up the good work!

    Most Remarkable Changes?

Hello Luv2teech7, I assume you are a teacher. I am too. I got banded on 12/27/2007. I've lost about 55 since my highest weight which was close to my surgery date. I have started noticing my weightloss, but it is still hard for me to take a compliment. I'm having a problem getting motivated to work out. I have two small children who hate going to the child care area at the gym. I have a treadmill at home; however, I can't seem to get a moment alone from my girls. I know...excuses, excuses, excuses. I really thought the scale would move faster. It seems like I lose 2 pounds the gain 1 1/2 back and then loose 1 and gain 2. It is very inconsistant. I have problems eating. I prefer drinking my dinner, but I'm worried I put to many calories into it. I also noticed you had your surgery done in Boston. I'm in Dallas, but I used to live in Boston. I still have family there. I worked for the National Park Service and gave tours on the Freedom Trail. Let me know if you have any words wisdom.

    Measuring Your Food

Hello friends, I finally got a fill on 1/28 - YAHOO! I need help figuring out my feeling of full. I haven't been measuring my food, but my nutritionist said that I need to keep it to 1/2 a cup no matter what. Does everyone measure their food? Tonight for dinner, I had 1/2 of a small Wendy's chili. Is that too much? I could have eaten the whole thing...do I need to go back and get adjusted? I'm scared to death I'm going to stretch my pouch. Please share with me your feeling of full and if you measure your food. Please help!

    Unrealistic Ideals

Hey...I'm glad I'm not the only one beating myself up. I've only been banded for two weeks and I'm ready for something to happen. I saw my Dr. last Friday and he said that most people lose most of their weight from 3-18 months. I can't imagine waiting 2 1/2 more months. I go back on the 25th. I'm praying for a fill, but I think I'm going to be disappointed. I'm starting to feel very hungry and a protien shake isn't doing the trick. I can't wait for my support group. I feel like I'm going crazy. I'm on purees and I'm kinda sick of them. I've tried a few things like overcooked carrots, etc. I know I need to be patient, but I've been big for so long that I'm just mentally ready for success. Thanks for listening.

    newbie with questions

I have questions too. I got banded on the 27th. I feel great physically. Mentally is where my problem is. I've had broth, broth, and more broth. I've had yougurt, SF yogurt and pudding. I don't feel too hungry; however, I don't have a problem eating 6 oz yogurt, 8 oz broth, etc. What's wrong with me? :help:I see people that just eat 2-3 oz. I feel a tad bit of frustration because I'm not full at 3 bites.

    Post op questions

I feel the chest pain as well. It kinda feels like I have to burp and I can't. I still feel hungry though. I'm eager to get a fill. Do you feel full after broth and liquids? I can't say I've got the full feeling...I'm just not hungry.

    Hi from TX!

I'm a teacher too. I got the surgery on the 27th. How are you doing? I'm kinda sick of the liquid. Let me know.
  25. Hi all! This is the first time I have gotten on this forum. I was scared to do it before the surgery. I got banded on the 27th and feel great. I've gotten a hunger pain 2 times, but nothing a little broth won't fix. I'm very eager to move on in the fill process, but I realize I need time for my stomach to heal. Does anyone know of any resources for recipes for broth or other things that can be eaten during the first 2 weeks of post-op?
