Ok, this kind of eases my mind!!! So nervous. Didn't come this far just to drop 40. Thanks for the response!!! -
Hey friends, just wanted to connect with you guys because you are the only people that truly understand what I'm going through. Just a little update, I'm 19days post-op rny and down 36lbs...so the weight loss is amazing. But on another note I had some really bad cravings today and it was so hard to not give in and just deal with the dumping. I'm glad to say I didn't give in ....but it was hard. I guess I Literally just have to take this thing one day at a time. Hopefully tomorrow will be better????

Hey my friends!!! So I had my second post op visit on yesterday and all went well. The surgeon assured me I'm headed in the right direction and that those cravings I informed you guys of last week are quite normal. Guys I have really just learned to take this journey one day at a time. I'm not focusing on next week or whether I will get through next month. If I can get through today then I'll worry about tomorrow when it gets here. I know it may not seem like a big accomplishment but I weighed in at 388 lbs at my visit. I haven't seen 388 since college. So not quite 4 weeks post op and I'm down 40 lbs since surgery. I know I have a longgggg ways to go but I've come a long way from 519 lbs. I never want to see 519 lbs ever again!!!!!!! I hope this encourages somebody????????????

First hard day (Mentally)

I think you have nailed down the plan that I will follow, too: One day at a time and things will fall into place. We'll find our strides with this and get through the temptations and difficult aspects. 19 days post op and 36 lbs lost. That is truly awesome. On thing that seems to be a reoccurring difficulty stated around here is that when the weight loss slows...stalls for while......it can be frustrating. For me, frustration was one of the triggers that led me to eating sugary junk. I know that I'll need a plan in place to deal with these times. They are sure to come so I'd better have a battle plan ready to get through it. I had a buddy who recently quit smoking. He had an interesting incentive plan for himself. He has a savings and checking account that he manages with a cellphone app. When he quit smoking, he opened a third account with the same bank. This was his smoking account. He opened it with the money that he'd otherwise spend on smoking for the first month. Every day or every couple of days when the urge to smoke would hit him, he'd simply use his cellphone app to transfer his daily "smoking money" into that new account. He said that seeing that money accumulate is really cool and waiting until the urge is strong to transfer & update it give him a way to address the urge. He's a hunter and into shotgun shooting sports. He said he lets the money accumulate and bought a really, really nice shotgun and other related gear.......guilt free. I'm not sure I"ll do the same thing he did......but I thought it was a cool approach and it's kept him from smoking. We are working through addiction with this stuff. It's tough because there is no need for someone to drink or smoke.....but we still have to eat.....thus we need even stronger plans in place. Love your response. Amazing plan your friend came up with. I too need a plan in place for the difficult times that are sure to come. Very inspiring!!! Thanks!!! -

That took a lot of will power to spit it out!!!! Be proud of that. This is going to be a long, hard journey but I know it will be well worth it!!! ???????????? -
Hey, my name is Jasmine and I'm so excited to have found such a great group of people willing to share their stories. Well my journey began 1 1/2 years ago when I was approved for the rny. I was devastated when I was told I had to drop 85 lbs before my surgeon would even consider operating. I threw up my hands and gave up. Within a month I had packed on another 27 lbs, tipping the scale at 519. I was embarrassed, depressed and only had one option, LOSE THE WEIGHT!!! In February I dedicated myself to eating healthy and exercising faithfully. And by June I was down 90lbs pounds. So, here I go I'm ready for surgery. But here comes another road block. There's a glitch with my insurance that delays me another month. So my big surgery day is here June 22nd 2015. The day I've been anticipating!!!! I'm wheeled to the OR, put to sleep only to be awaken moments later to find I did not have my surgery do to my cardiac rhythm changing. My surgeon canceled my surgery until a cardiologist cleared me. I was devastated. I wanted to give up completely but I had to stand firm in my faith. Needless to say, my cardiologist cleared me. I was back on the operating table on July 20 2015. Glory be to God. I'm currently 7 days post op and in a lot of pain but I know it will getter better. I hope this encourages anyone that has been waiting months, years to have this surgery. Just keep the faith and keep persevering!!!!

Thank you. And Congrats!!! The eating is ok. I've advanced to the purée foods and kind of trail and error. Some foods I'm able to handle. I tried chicken for the first time yesterday and got extremely sick. I definitely keep my Zofran nearby!!! Thank you!!! -

I'm doing ok. Just bothered with a lot of abdominal pain. Went to the ER today, CAT Scan was normal so that eased my mind. How long did your abdominal pain last?!?
