    Update on my dilemma

I was self pay. It's a lot of $! I would wait. Just my two cents. Best of luck! ????

Concern about WLS and my fat cat!

I have 2 cats and no problem. Maybe they just "knew" I wasn't up for any games! Pillows are a great idea even without animals. ????

    Nightshift without caffeine!

@@msgal2181 I took Provigil many years ago and prior to surgery, took Vyvanse. I'm happy to say I don't take it anymore! Of course I was very tired when I started back at work but I white knuckled it and as I get healthier & the weight is coming off I'm doing just fine! I also work twelves. I'll confess some days when I wake up around 1400.. I have a squirt of caffeinated Water Enhancer and a Protein snack which helps me get to the gym. I only do this 3 days a week which is how I rationalize it and it works for ME. I thought I might not make it for a while but ever since I started walking consistently, it's made a big difference. I'm 10 weeks post op today! I know there are lots of night shifters here and might have better advice or good tips and tricks. Best of luck to you! It's very exciting!
  6. Hello everyone! I'm almost 6 weeks post op from band to bypass and I work 12 hour shifts from 19:00-07:00. I used to take Vyvanse pre-surgery to help me focus and stay awake. I don't want to start on it again. My dilemma is that I'm not supposed to have caffeine and I'm dying. Yes dying. Any suggestions? Wondering if I'm ok to have a little bit on the 3 full nights that I work. I don't drink coffee. I would just use the Water enhancers. Anyone done this or should I just suck it up? I sleep pretty well in the day and I can take a couple of breaks at night where I go for a walk. I'm a 911 or a 000 dispatch supervisor (depending on where you live) and I can't afford to be groggy and foggy. Thanks!!

    Joint pain

@@Dar200 Haha! Thanks for asking! Yes, his name is Simon. Creative isn't? Sadly, he passed away last year but this picture is so cute and makes me laugh. Glad you like it! ????

    Joint pain

Yep! I've had that too especially when I wake up. Didn't have the problem before surgery. I'm 2 months post op. It's starting to get better now. I read somewhere that people do experience this due to rapid weight loss, something to do with connective tissue and yadda yadda ... sorry I don't have an official place to quote. I'm not too worried about it. My body is like "what are we doing"! I figure it's all changing and moving, redistributing but def see your doc if you need to!
  9. I'm band to bypass and I don't regret it one bit! I'm 2 months post op and feel sooooo much better. All the best to you!

    Band to Bypass Fears

p.s. I'm just NOW starting to walk at two months post op and it's not at a crazy pace. Just easy and gentle but I'm moving. ????

    Band to Bypass Fears

I feel/felt the exact same way! I had my band removed and bypass the same day 08/22/15. I never felt satiated with the band. It was like the food just sat in my chest and my "real" stomach was hungry so I turned to slider foods. Ice cream was a fav! At least I felt full! I'm 8 weeks post op now and I FINALLY feel full. Also I haven't vomited once! Not once. It's odd. I keep thinking, "am I really losing weight? Is this even going to work"? I'm happy to say that yes it IS working! I didn't lose any weight pre op. I started at 307 and I'm now at 268, two months post op. I still have a hard time believing that it's working. It is! I still have a long way to go but....... as long as it's going in the right direction I'm happy. It's a whole other ball game. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised! Best of luck! It WILL work! ????

    Does Removing Staples Hurt?

My staples didn't hurt either. I was pleasantly surprised as I was expecting the worst.

I bought the Jolley Rancher packets as well and they do indeed taste like the candy (from what I remember!). They're kind of fun.????

Self pay ..what did you do?

I took out a loan and used some from my retirement, cashed in some vacation hours from work and used my HSA. Guess I'll be driving the same car for 3 more years but I'm look and feel good doing it!

I cheated on my preop diet

I will tell you that nope... you're not the only one who cheated, more than once.

    Nightshift without caffeine!

@@Dub Walking helps me a lot!! Unfortunately I'm at the mercy of how busy it is. Sometimes I can't even take a bathroom break for a looong time when it hits the fan. It hasn't been as bad as I thought but it's no picnic. Ahhahaha!???? Glad I'm not the only one.

    Nightshift without caffeine!

@@beachgal2935 @@SybrgreenTX Thanks! I did add beef jerky and it helps. I think I'll give sunflower seeds a try! I actually used the mio Water Enhancer with caffeine and like you sybegreen, it does affect me differently. Just a little bit amps me up for hours! I will only use it one night a week when I have to take a very busy police channel. Gotta keep my boys in blue safe and not be and idiot. ???? Luckily I can get all my fluids in no problem. I'll use common sense (I think I still have some left?) LOL! I so appreciate your feedback!!

@@rnwrny I've been having b-12 shots and it does help thanks! Def not caffeine. LOL!!
  20. You're hanging in there, getting this done. That's so great! Next step... sleep study. You got this!????
  21. I developed one as well about 2-3 weeks ago and I'm about 7 weeks post op now. Went to my primary care doc and she gave some Cipro (antibiotic). I'm not thrilled about taking those but it's rare for me so I did and cleared right up. I've only had a uti once before and they are not fun. I hope you are feeling better!
  22. I'm band to bypass and it was the best decision ever! I'm only about 7 weeks post op and I haven't vomited once. It's weird! No regrets. Best of luck!
  23. I've made the ricotta bake and love it! It's a great website!
  24. @tayesidebell I was really nervous so I took it very slow. My doc is somewhat progressive with the food stages so I went even slower than his recommendation. I'm 6 weeks out and doing well. No dumping or vomiting! I just had pork yesterday and did great. Sounds like you're doing great!
  25. Buh Bye

    I'm new.

Hi, I'm Sundie. Hopefully I'm doing this right. I'm scheduled for a revision from the Lapband to the bypass and I am, of course nervous. Especially since I'm self pay!! Gah! I'm just here reading and it's great! Thanks to everyone for sharing! I'm 5'4 and starting out at 307 big ones. I'll be 46 next month. Talk about a pivotal time in my life. Woot!
