    Surgery in two days

@@Pinkgirl1234 well that sucks!! Come on revision!!! @@Dream4tc I was lucky in that I never had heartburn. Go figure. Vomiting was every single day! I just figured I was being a pig and eating wrong (which I was a bit). ????

    Surgery in two days

@@Dream4tc Did you have any idea? Did it feel strange? When my surgeon got in there he said that my band was too tight and it had slipped as well. I had no clue!

    Surgery in two days

@@Pinkgirl1234 I had an upper GI done before my revision from band to bypass and I actually got to see what my esophagus looked like. The tech said it was twice the size of a normal one. Don't miss that band at all. Fingers crossed for you! Stay positive and visualize it being approved. (I'm a freak I know!)
  4. Hi everybody! Sooo I'm 2 weeks post op from band to RNY. My doc usually just does 2 week leaves. I had that horrendous band out, plus the RNY. I don't think I can go back to work yet. I kind of feel like I'm being selfish but there are 2 other co-workers who had it done & they took of 4-6 weeks! I'm a 911 dispatch supervisor and we work 12 hr shifts. We do police, fire and medical. Granted it's sedentary but I have to be alert & on point so that I can make good, smart decisions and I'm like... half a sandwich short of a picnic right now! I'm feeling good. Still pain where the stupid band was and just overall fatigue. I'm having them extend my fmla another week. Mostly what I want I suppose is validation. ???? Am I being smart or just taking advantage of the situation? I'm 46, no spring chicken. Thanks everyone! Love these forums????

WORK: Too Soon or not. . .

@@Dream4tc @gailmorrisonsullivan Thanks! I took that extra week. I think it really helped. I could have used another week working half days (6 hrs) but... I jumped back in. I'm working 8 days in a row due to our shift change. I'm on day 5 and start nightshift tonight. I have missed caffeine for sure and have been tired but so far so good. 4 more days. . Thanks again for your input!! @ ????
  6. That's exciting!! You're gonna be fine! Stay positive and imagine it all going well. I think that makes a difference. Keep us posted! ????
  7. Hi there! Congrats! That's exciting! I had band to bypass on 08/11 so I'm almost a month post op. Doing great! I think having the band has helped me know how to chew well and eat slower with small bites. Happy to say I haven't puked once! Amazing! The surgery wasn't too bad at all. Mostly sore where that stupid band came out but no regrets. Best of luck to you. It will be awesome!!
  8. What a great fiancé! I'm about 3 weeks post op and mostly tired still but I feel better if that makes any sense. Good luck!

    I'm new.

@@pal1 That's awesome to hear! The band is definitely more painful than the bypass. I'm 18 days post op and the area where my band was, is still quite sore while I can't feel anything from the bypass area! No complications so far. Best of luck to you.

    Not Full

My RNY was 08/11. I had the same problem! I'm on soft foods and just now starting to be able to distinguish when I'm full. Maybe the nerve endings are healing? I didn't push it either and just stuck with the recommended amount my NUT advised. I think it just takes a while since it's quite a shock to our bodies.

    Celebrating my 100th post with...

Woohoo! I always enjoy your posts. Thanks for sharing your journey. Awesome pix!
  12. Oops... I was trying to reply to a post. I'm new. Being that I initially had the band, I think it's helped me to recognize what the full sensation is and when to stop. I've only just noticed it as I'm on soft foods. I think when your on full liquids it's difficult. Just feels like your stomach is full. The head hunger is a whole other ball game. The first week out I was starving. Pizza Hut commercials would push me over the edge I tell ya! The head hunger and real hunger is slowly becoming more distinguishable. Baby steps I suppose! Liquids no problem. Just have to sip all. day. long.
  13. Hope you're doing well now on this side of it!

    Surgery Drain Removal Ouch!?

    Yay!! That's great news!
  15. Hi August People! Had my band to bypass revision on 08/11. Doing good! I remember coming home and I was so tired but kept myself awake to stay hydrated. I was mad that I couldn't rest or I'd be back in the hospital being treated for dehydration. Noooo thanks! I was nervous for a bit because it seemed that I wasn't feeling full but... I am now! The hard thing is that my stomach is full and I know exactly when to stop but.....my head says "Ohh I just want to finish this". Just one more bite. Luckily, I stop due to all the horror stories. Anyway, just my two cents and good luck to everyone! I hope you are all doing well and just flowing with the changes of this new life style. My word to myself is RELAX (it's all working out). ????

    All about BOOBS!

@@SunflowerGal Mine was the first surgery I had ever had and I think I had a crappy anesthesiologist. Waking up was horrid. I was sore after but it was the waking up that was awful! So when I had the lapband surgery I was terrified to wake up. It was cake! (Cake... Hehee). It was sooo easy. With this surgery I again was nervous because it was the band coming out, plus the bypass. It too was cake!! Lol! Sooo I'll be going to a different place for the phase 2 projects! I just turned 46 but they still look good so I'm hangin on! I think the tummy would be my next work of art. My surgery was self pay. Ugh. Sooo... It will be a few years before I put on the finishing touches so to speak. Fun to connect with you! I'm 2 weeks post op but feel free to ask questions. I'm a fountain of information! Lol! Best of luck on your next stage!!

I had one month a few years back where I was really struggling & wasn't sure if I was going to be able to make the mortgage payment. I called in and asked what help there was available. I was shocked by how kind the person was on the phone! You definitely make a difference. ???? Good luck with the sleep study! The waiting game is certainly a test of patience!

    Surgery Drain Removal Ouch!?

I'm 2 weeks post op from a revision. Band to bypass but I had a drain (just while in the hospital) and also staples. I was really nervous too. The staples were no problem. I pictured some horrendous huge staples but they're not. It was easy. The drain was just weird. It didn't hurt but just a weird sensation. You'll be fine. It's good to be on this side now isn't it? Best of luck and hope it all goes smoothly!

    All about BOOBS!

@@SunflowerGal I'm the same way! I lost about 90 lbs and yep... I got a lift and implants them gained that back PLUS! They still look awesome. I'm only 2 weeks post op from a revision but I'm worried! THAT was NOT a fun surgery. It's been about ten years for me as well soooo I know some type of plastics will be in my future. So glad I'm not the only who did this! ????
  21. I'm 11 days post op from a band to RNY revision and I feel the same way. I'm kind of nervous! I can drink water all day and eat 3-4 Tbl of food and I don't feel full but I'm also not hungry. I have the head hunger BAD! Sooo I'm just taking it easy and only eating what the dr. told me. I don't want to push it. Hopefully we'll figure it out as we heal. You're not alone.????

This has got to be be a very interesting job. It takes a very strong person. @@justme29 -- it is indeed interesting! Thanks! Hardest, most stressful job I've ever had. I'm 10 days post op & already worried about being on my game when I go back. No room for mistakes! Congrats on getting through the process. Keep going! I am still working through the kinks. But I am a debt collector. Probate Collections. Some days I feel like I'm a licensed therapist though. I love helping people through the tough time. But in the end, collections is the job role. Just be patient with yourself. From all the posts, it does seem we take jobs to care for others. . I'm sure you hear a lot from people! That's not an easy job. I hope your process goes nice and smooth for you. I had to self pay and wow... talk about easy when the money is all right there for them. Jumping through all the hoops would be worth it though!! My insurance has a very clear policy about WLS. No. LOL! Keep on keepin on!

  25. Hi there! I had my stupid band removed on 08/11 and revised to RNY so today is post op day 10! I was also nervous about the RNY and had considered the sleeve but I wanted one surgery and that was it. The sleeve has been great for some people but for me...I was only doing this one more time. I should have done the RNY in the first place! Anyway....I don't regret it! Good luck to you! No matter what, you're going to feel better with that thing out!????
