    Nightshift without caffeine!

Thanks James! Good reminders. Sucking it up! ????
  2. That chair looks magical! I had to self pay as well and once insurance companies aren't involved....look out! It happens fast. Best of luck, you seem prepared! p.s. I do love the "log roll". LOL!

    I'm so tired.....

I'm 5 weeks post op and very tired too and... to make it worse I work 12 hr shifts at night! I can't tell if I'm nightshift tired or just plain tired. It's miserable... and no caffeine. Gah!
  4. I went from band to bypass and had a two week diet of protein shakes, plus we could eat a lean cuisine or weight watchers. It made it doable although I did still cheat just prior to my surgery. I'm 5 weeks post op!
  5. That's so great to hear! It's nice to be on this side isn't it? Take good care of yourself and be gentle. This will be a wonderful process (not easy but that's ok!). Congrats!
  6. @@Dream4tc You can get them at JC Penney, Bed Bath & Beyond, WalMart places like that. I would get a mattress pad but the cats like to sleep on the blanket and who am I to be comfy?
  7. I'm cold as well at 5 weeks post op but I like it! I used to sweat over every movement and I just broke out the electric blanket last night as its getting chilly!

    B12 shots?

I give myself the injections. My doctor was very cool about because I didn't want to have to drive down to the office when I could do it at my convenience. She prescribed me the vitamin & the syringes. I love them! Makes me feel better.
  9. Congratulations pretty lady!

    Commiserating needed

You're doing great! It IS frustrating when you're expecting a nice drop in the scale but every single pound adds up (in a good way)! I stalled for 2 weeks post op and that was disappointing. I've decided to focus more on how my clothes are fitting. I figure we're doing everything right, I mean something HAS to give eventually. It's just science right? It HAS to. Enjoy the process and continue on! You're fabulous & doing such a great thing for yourself. ????

Middle of the Night Worries/2nd Thoughts

I'm so sorry you're having to go through all this! Being in the hospital and feeling helpless is a test for anyone, let alone someone with a life changing plan coming up! I've always been a believer that right before you make an amazing, positive change in your life. . . .it gets harder. Darkest before dawn type thing. Maybe when you have surgery it will be cake and you'll be pleasantly surprised. Maybe this is actually a blessing in disguise. I worried too about any additional surgeries, complications, etc especially since I'm self pay and it was NOT cheap! I thought about how I would handle it but. . .then. . I also considered my alternative of staying at 307 lbs and what my future would look like with those problems. I took a leap of faith and thought I would rather deal with "possible" problems post op than a lifetime of definite problems. Anyway. . .sorry for rambling. I'm working nights and was philosophical. LOL! BTW, I'm 5 weeks post op and no complications, doing well. Big hugs to you in that hospital bed!

    What Are Your Hobbies?

Good question! I've actually been thinking about this a lot. food was my companion, my comfort, etc.. .I'm 5 weeks post op and have been thinking it's time to add something. I have a guitar which I have tried to learn for the past 5 years. LOL! It hurts! Apparently, it becomes fun after a while. Something small & silly. .I was going to buy a puzzle and work on that. I guess those are my hobbies. One day I'll say "mountain biking with my son"!!

    Achiness all over

Yes! I'm almost 5 weeks post op and am wondering what's going on. I thought losing weight would help. Maybe our joints are adjusting? I don't know but I'm right there with you. I figure it will pass but hoping soon! (Mostly notice when I wake up. Maybe I'm just old!)

    Revision

I had the band to bypass 1 month ago. Feeling pretty good! Haven't puked once that's the weird thing. I can lay down and not have my food come back up. So considering my newness.... it's pretty darn good!
  15. Hi everyone! Question for you. Let me preface this by saying I have contacted my dr. office and will follow up accordingly. I'm 1 month post op from band to GP revision. Two mornings ago I stretched in a weird way, and felt a popping or tearing under my left ribcage. It hurt and it's still sore. I called my doctors office in a panic and she said "how do you feel"? Hahaa! I actually feel fine. No fever or nausea. I'm eating just fine, still getting in my fluids in but it's just sore like I've been working out. She said it was probably scar tissue but watch for hemorrhaging in my bm's. (Yah that will be in 3 days! Sorry.. Lol) Just wondering if anyone has had something similar. Thanks!

    Pain Under Ribcage

@@Cervidae That's good to know, thanks! So scary!
  17. Being nervous is so normal. I tried to not to think about what I was "really" doing because I knew it was the right decision & I was going to do it no matter what! Haha! Anyway, I took 3 weeks off work. It seemed to be enough. I work 12 hr shifts so it would have been nice to return and just work half, 6-hour days but no matter what you'll be tired. I was glad to get back into a routine and try to feel normal again. My drain was only in for a day but I've seen a lot of people on here who have the drain a lot longer. Mostly it's just a hassle it doesn't hurt but is uncomfortable. I also had staples but they took those out the next day too. Didn't hurt at all. I've lost 27 lbs. I didn't lose any before prior to surgery. I've even stalled for a week... Water retention. ????

    Going back to work?

I had the band to bypass revision at the same time and took 3 weeks off. My job is fairly sedentary and the pain I had wasn't from the bypass, it was from where the band has been removed. I ended up having to work 8 days in a row and I did fine. I did notice I really had to concentrate on making sure I got my fluids in! Everyone is different but hopefully you'll be able to hit it at two weeks. I should mention my shifts are 12 hrs so if you work 8, maybe it will be cake! Tee heeee???? Take good care of yourself! p.s. I should add I'm just over a month post op.

I think I will become New Age in my Old Age

I use essential oils all the time and a diffuser. When I get home from a crappy day at work answering 911 calls, talking to people who can't get along etc... my diffuser is kind of nice to help me relax. (I do use them at work too.) I figure it can't hurt. Hope you enjoy them!
  20. For me, it was only overnight! Had my drain removed in the hospital and I was on my way. I feel sooo much better having the band out. I'm only a little over a month post op but it's amazing. Best of luck, you'll feel a lot better!!
  21. Good question! Like @@Cervidae said it might be a lot of sugar. I used to drink grass clipping smoothies, aka kale. Blahhh! Spinach was always good though. ????
  22. You're gonna do great! I had the band to bypass on 08/11 so I'm just a month post op. I've pretty much been on my own (even self pay!) but...I can do hard things and so can you. That's awesome you've posted on here! I'm always worried that I'm posting something dumb but.. for the most part everybody is so kind and you can get some great information and support. Let us know if you have questions! I'm a newbie but I can share my experience. So far so good. Best of luck!

    Pain after Lap Band Removal

The area where I had the band removed is just NOW starting to feel better. I went back to work 3 weeks post op and it's a desk job but I still had some pain just sitting there. I'm guessing scar tissue and just trauma around that area. My surgeon saved my band (cleaned it up of course). I can't believe that thing was in me! Hope you're doing well and it's nothing serious. I think we probably don't realize how deep in there and attached the band was. Ugh.
  24. It's nice to have a post like this and see the thought processes that we work out along the way. We're working it out and I like that we can admit that our false ego can roar it's head but that's natural. It's bringing it back home is where it counts. Great thread and thoughts! I love when I find a thread that has some good substance! Thanks for sharing it I think we're better people for having read and participated! How often can you say that from a social media forum!! ???? keepin on keepin on everyone!! Blessings! ❤️
  25. I'm glad you posted this. I've seen some mean posts and I've thought to myself, "I hope I never lose my sympathy and compassion" for those who struggle because I'm still one of them (1 month post op!). Of course the initial reaction is recoil (you're human!) but to have enough self awareness to then be empathetic says a lot.❤️ They're struggling and I'm sure they see people and their reaction and feel badly. Breaks my heart.
