I miss food :(
Michael Hamilton replied to Justgotsleeved's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 13 months post op, and sometimes I miss some food sometimes too. You are not alone. I can mostly eat whatever I want, just in small quanities. One meal I miss so much is eating a big o deli sandwhich, I miss sitting down and eating that whole deli sando with a bag of chips and washing it all down with a bottle of rootbeer. Mmmmm soda. Some people can stilll eat them but my tummy does not like bread. I can eat toast, or pizza crust in small doses but thats about it. I dont watch calories or fat intake. I know I probably should but I suck at diets, always have. Eventually You will be able to eat most of the stuff you used to eat. Somethings will not be as good as they used to be. I used to love icecream, but now its an ocasional treat. My daughter made chocolat chip cookies today, I used to eat a half dozen in one sitting, now I will probably only eat 1 or 2 out of the whole batch. Pizza was a once a week staple for me and I would eat half rhe pizza myself, I just cant stomach it anymore. Cheese enchiladads are my new favorite food. One enchilada and I am full. Yumm! And yes those Arbys/Hardees commercial really make me want one of their sandwhichs, but i would never be able to make that work with my stomach.. It gets better , I remember being newly sleeved and wondering if I made a mistake, but thats all gone now. I like shopping in a normal store for clothes. Throwing away my size 58 jeans , and wearing size 38 which are now getting too baggy on me. Going from 5xlt t shirt to an Xl. Having my a1C go down to a prediabetic stage and almost off my blood pressure pills. I promise it will ge better, and us guys lose weight fast! So hang in there buddy! -

I'm at a major stall!
Michael Hamilton replied to DFernandez718's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If I am reading your post correctly you are just over a month post op. A stalled around that time is normal. At 3 weeks, I stalled for over 10 days while my body adjusted to the recent weight loss. It will start again. I wouldnt worry about calories at this point. Your body needs calories to function. If you starve your body too much by dieting, it will go into survival mode and stall you out. Us guys lose weight pretty fast. I lost over 160lbs in less than a year. I dont diet or count my calories. I eat whatever I want when I want. I had a small piece of birthday cake and icecream at my daughters party last weekend woke up the next morning and had lost another pound. Just use common sense and never over eat! Dieting sucks, thats why I got the sleeve. You re gonna do great. -

Swimmmming
Michael Hamilton replied to madisunshine1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Since were talking about swimming ...... Went to the waterpark yesterday and I have lost enough weight that I am able to go on the warterslides with my kids. Great feeling!! However, I have lost a lot of weight and I have found out that I am no longer as buoyant as I used to be. I used to be able to float like a champ, but now I find myself struggling to stay afloat in the lazy river and the wavepool. Going again this weekend temp is suposed to hit 109 degrees this Saturday. -

1 Week Post Op & Hunger Pangs
Michael Hamilton replied to DA2837's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I swear I woke up from surgery and was hungry. I feel hungry all the time. I hate the phrase " head hunger " . I wanted to be that person that never fells hunger again after surgery, but thats not my story. I eat small meals and small snacks in between. I dont over eat, and I dont count calories. Your so new out of surgery so keep an eye on your water intake. Drink your broth, eat your jello and when you are allowed to eat food, eat your food. I dont diet, I eat whatever i want. If I was good at dieting I wouldn't of had this surgery. Now it could be stomach acid like the others have mentioned. I take a prescription strength dose of Ompromezole (spelling) 40 mg every morning or I get mean heartburn from acid reflux. You're going to do great and lose a lot of weight, enjoy the ride. -
Walgreens brand multi and Calcium pill. Not sure what brand Iron and b12 subliminal. I order my whey Protein from http://www.rawdynamix.com/whey-protein/ they have lots of flavor and options on sweeteners. I like unflavored and unsweetened myself. Shipping is super fast and I find them cheaper than unjury.

Hit my first Plateau...now what
Michael Hamilton replied to BigDog Bryan's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Its just your weight loss slowing down. I doubt your done. My weight loss has slowed way down the last month or two. I stayed at 255 for over two weeks then dropped pounds really fast. I have now been at 240 for a couple of weeks and wondering if the scale is going to drop more. Im like you went from 58 jeans to 38 and 5xlt t shirt down to a 2xlt. Im not tall but I like the longer shirt to cover my belly. I am happy to shop at a regular store now. Hang in the scale will move again. -

Coffee and protein?
Michael Hamilton replied to crazyplantlady's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I drink a cup of coffee and some half and half with a scoop of unflavored, unsweetened Protein powder every morning. Dosen't clump. I used to use unjury, but switched to rawdynamix because i felt it was the same quality and cheaper and they ship fast. https://www.rawdynamix.com/whey-protein/ They offer coffee flavored powder too. -
I had a big ol steak dinner with baked potato and soda. Im glad I did because steak or beef dosent agree with my tummy anymore. I wish I would have eaten one more deli sandwich. Bread dosent feel good either in my belly. Enjoy what you really like because you may not enjoy it later. I missed eating after surgery, it depressed me a little too, but thats all in the past. I still miss the deli sandwich when I see my co workers eating them. Good luck on your surgery.

YIKES! Weight Loss Surgery bill came today!
Michael Hamilton replied to WL WARRIOR's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
$4200.00 paid cash in Mexico. Insurance probably would have covered it if I would have jumped through all their hoops. Best $4200 I had spent in a long time. -
travel after sleeve surgery?
Michael Hamilton replied to AnnainMS's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Some people travel to Mexico for Gastric sleeve. They fly home 3 days later. So I would wait a couple of days. -

Go to Tijuana $4200. -
Try switching to Omeprazole Its generic purple pill. 20mg a day for 7 days. Rantanidine wasnt strong enough for me. I told my Dr about my awful reflux after surgery and he put me on 40mg prescription omeprazole (prilosec) daily, been taking it daily for several months now. Good luck

Sick to stomach (take out?)
Michael Hamilton replied to ZombieQueen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had trouble at first too. Eggs, yogurt, cottage cheese were easy foods to start with. Also Campbell chunky soups. I noticed wet foods (soups) went down easier. Take it slow and if you cant tolerate something , try it again in a few weeks. -
Regretting it already..(day 1)
Michael Hamilton replied to ZombieQueen's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hold on, the first week is the hardest. Keeps sipping that water. Water most important thing right now. Everyday you should feel a little better. -
I went back to drinking coffee 2 weeks after surgery with no problems. I use half and half, and add a scoop of unflavored protein powder. I drink one cup a day sometimes a second cup at work. I'm not saying for you to go for it and have one, but it didn't kill me.
