@Violet S. hang in there. Maybe you are throwing up frequently because you are consuming foods your new pouch is just not ready for. chicken for one, can be very heavy on the new stomach. This is why we are encouraged to eat tender thigh meat and not the white breast meat we may have learned to love so much. I find I am also frequently hungry and am not sure why since I eat according to plan on scheduled times with Snacks in between (applesauce, yogurt). Im also not sure if the hunger means that the new pouch is stretching out, so caution when serving portions. Oh and yes, there are weight stalls, I believe this is perfectly normal for those who are eating regularly around the clock and not relying solely on liquids and Protein shakes as their only meals. Hang in there it gets easier as time passes, I too was miserable for a few weeks -- but since surgery Aug 3, I seem to be healing slowly and feeling better. Good luck with your weight loss and with this process in general.

@KnowUrWorth I understand where you are coming from. Other than my mom and my BF no one knows and I intend on keeping it that way. There is no real reason to have to tell others. Of course there are times when we may feel that telling others will only help them, but at the moment we are here in this situation to care for ourselves and to get our lives on the right course. It seems telling others would be a relative and very selective process.

@, your feelings of apprehension are normal. I felt this way right before my surgery and actually right until I was in the operating room waiting for my turn to come up. Its now been 9 days out of surgery and although I have a long way to heal, I feel confident this was the best choice for me and I cant wait until all the weight is lost and my life changes for the best.

@, not sure if you have had your surgery already. But just a heads up, you can opt to have a single incision sleeve gastrectomy as I did and this minimizes the pain and healing time. the incision is performed along the belly button and once healed is bearely noticeable.

@lillie1117 be sure you are not having anything you are not supposed to too soon. This will definately cause dumping syndrome. It gets better, really and you will be just fine.

@@wagyu, Aldi's has some low fat cream of mushroom and cream of chicken that are really low in sodium and tasty. If you find that the smalll chunks bother you, its always best to blend them first before eating.

I am hoping to have the single incision sleeve surgery on Monday, Aug., 3. Anyone have this type of surgery?

@@flipper72 & @@Tazwella, I was told to bring chapstick as mentioned above by Tazwella -- and Gas-X (the strips or chewable kind) to remove any gas discomfort. The nurses at the hospital called me and told me to bring toiletries as they supposedly have everything else such as gowns and slippers. Therefore I have packed deoderant, soap, toothpaste, lotion, Gas-X, chapstick, several clean underwear, magazines (and mp3 player for entertainment) and my daliy prescribed medications. Best of luck to all on the day of your surgery and best wishes for a quick recovery.

@geronimo I too am having doubts and my surgery is tomorrow! I am scheduled to have the sleeve. But the fact that this is permanent and taking supplements for the rest of my life seems a bit disturbing. In the end, only you can decide wether to go through with it. The catalyst for me is being told repeatedly that this surgery will "save my life,". That is a very good reason to go through with the procedure. I too have yo-yo dieted most of my life and to no avail, always gained the weight right back. I am at my heighest weight today and have several comorbidities that lead to my decision for sleeve surgery. Regarding the arthritis, you would be taking Citracal (Calcium Citrate) daily (along with other vitamins) and that should take care of your bone health. Hope this helps a bit! And good luck withyour insurance approval and diet program.

@@bornthisway622, I feel you when you say you want to tuck in your shirts, I would like to wear belts and be able to paint my toes without getting all bent out of shape (this among other things I struggle with b/c of weight). I am also scared and excited, I have just two days to go before my procedure (Monday morning).

To answer your question, I started this process in October 2014, but I didnt have any requirements as others do for insurance purposes; once I decided I was really going to go through with the procedure, I completed my paperwork and exams in a very short amount of time, all together I was prepared in about 3months. Because of my insurance (Medicare) I did not have to wait a year or 6 months, not even 3 months, this was just the time it took me to decide and do research. With Medicare one can complete all exams and requirements in one month.
