How much have you lost July Butterfllies??

My surgery date was 7/16/08. I have lost a total of 22 lbs. including preop. I am feeling rather discouraged because since surgery(4 weeks yesterday) I have only lost 8lbs., all in the first week. I haven't lost anything in the last 3 weeks!! I am eating nearly all protein and adhering strictly to the diet. I am eating only 800-1100 calories, usually on the low end. According to the charts, I should even lose two lbs. a week on 2,180 calories. So why isn't the weight coming off? I have spent so much money and this is my last ditch effort. What if it doesn't work? Yes, 22 lbs. is great but its not near enough. I have another 100lbs to lose. Please encourage me!! Thanks.:crying:
  4. I was just banded two days ago and I am afraid of dehydration because I cant seem to get enough liquids in. I am supposed to drink about 46 oz. the first few days and I am only able to get in about half so far. I have been trying to sip all day plus a few popcicles but it doesnt add up to much and I feel so full. I was also supposed to start my protein drinks today but I have only drank about 4oz. of that. I am worried. Please help. Thanks, Tottie
  5. I take an extended release capsule for my heart. I have tried the non extended release before and it didnt work well for me. My surgeon says it should be fine but from everything I read it has me worried.
  6. Yea! I got my surgery date today too but I seem to feel only nervous. I am pretty freaked out! I want this but all the questions keep running through my head...Am I crazy? Will it really work for me? Will it be worth the money(I am self pay). How can I calm myself down? I know it would totally be worth it if I can actually succeed but I have 120 lbs. to lose and it seems like such a large amount. You seem so confident, can you pass some on to me? Thanks
  7. Why doesnt water just flow right through causing no problems? And how can you possibly get enough fluids just taking sips all day? It just doesnt seem like enough. I have been wondering this. Thanks
  8. Hi, I am not even banded yet so I cant help you with advice in that area but it seems to me that two bites arent going to kill you as long as it doesnt trigger the urge to eat more when you shouldnt. Its almost like an addict taking only one hit--sometimes it leads to much more! Anyway, from what I understand is that you may be feeling pretty hungry till you get your first fill so hang in there!! I am sure once you are feeling better physically you will be able to handle everything just fine.

Anyone Else Fight This Feeling ?

It is so funny, I was just discussing this today with my mom. I wont be banded for another three weeks but this is one of my fears. My mom even said she worries that I wont be able to enjoy life. We then said how sad it was that so much of our lives revolve around food. I think it would be wonderful to lose 45lbs.(congrats!) and yet its scary to think of losing that enjoyment you get from eating what you want! I wish all success to you. Tottie

    Self pay wise?

Thanks you guys! You are so awesome. I hesitated to post because I am pretty shy and have never posted anything before. I usually just read everyone else's. You have really encouraged me. Thanks again.

    Self pay wise?

Hi everyone, I am thinking of backing out. I am self pay and I am scared of going into debt with the economy looking so bad and gas prices continually rising. I want to have the surgery but I am not fully convinced that it is a wise decision financially. I can aford it now but if things continue to worsen who knows? I would like to hear from other self payers. Is it worth the debt to you?

Self Pay & No insurance? - Interesting tidbit

Why would a person be deemed uninsurable after the lapband? It seems you would be a better risk after losing some weight than before.
